This was my second visit to Aix and the first in Hotel Du Globe, but the place was fantastic, the staff extremely helpful to the point that they parked the car into their garage themselves. The room was quiet and overlooking the roofs of Aix, which added to the lovely scenery. The location was across the thermal baths and a short walk into the old Aix. Breakfast is super convenient, value for money. There is parking outside the hotel but costly and only at certain hours, so it is better to park in the hotel. They would benefit with a lounge area as some days we had to wait at the dinning room for our room to be ready. Nearby is Auvignon, Les Baux, Salon de Provençe, plenty of places to visit. This is a MUST to visit town, precious, with a long of nightlife, restaurants, and great shopping.

The staff were excellent: they were very helpful indeed, and some of them spoke good English. The hotel is only five minutes's walk from the centre of the old town. The breakfast is very good value at 7.80 euro. Our room was very noisy, with lots of traffic and people shouting outside in the street, until 2 am. The air conditioning in the hotel was switched off for the winter - it was October and around 20 degrees outside. As the heating in the hotel was on, it was between 20 and 23 degrees in our bedroom, even with our hotel window wide open all night. So we slept badly. This was the least comfortable hotel I have stayed in for quite a while.

Nice and helpfull staff. We 100% agree not to change towels each day, but the hotel must install more bars to help the towels dry.

Two stars hotel with a good value for money, in strategic position for the city center and the bus lines. 20 minutes walking for the train station. Possibility of (very very narrow) garage (9.80 euro per day), with reservation. The breakfast is not included in the room cost (7.80 euro), it's average, from 7 to 10 near the reception with coffee, tea, bread and croissant, little jams, sirop fruits. In Aix you find a lot of interesting places offering 'petit dejuner' for prices from 5 to 9 euro. The room 39 is well furnished and clean enough, very bright; the bathroom spacious and with shower and possibility to have clean towels every day. There's also a terrace with lawn chairs and possibility to admire the roofs all around! Over all the staff is very helpful and friendly, a lady speaks a very good italian, they all speak english and can give information about the surrounding ares, the restaurant, the public transport... just ask!

A good place to stay close to the city centre and near the roman baths. Clean and decent hotel kept in good order. A modern feel to it. Free wi-fi, very good breakfast and nice staff. Splendid rooftop terrace with view of the city and the cathedral tower, but with 35° C it was too hot to spend any longer moments there. Some parasols would have been called for! A very pleasant stay and i would not hesitate to stay there again.

Everything indeed super (including the roof terrace with view on Aix and surroundings). Pity for the traffic noise, at least if you are staying in a room on the street-side, like we were.

Hotel well located near markets, shops and restaurants. The accommodations are excellent. The room has a balcony with chairs. The staff is excellent, very kind and willing to make your stay the best. They gave us all the information about the city, sightseeing, shopping and restaurants. The breakfast is served at optimum quality and schedule that allows the best utilization of the day. The distance to the Cours Mirabeau is much smaller than the view that the map provides. Also the train station can be reached on foot, but the displacement of a taxi is recommended, due to the small cost and the amount of luggage you are carrying. Returning to Aix-en-Provence'll stay in this hotel for sure.

Very convenient for exploring Aix. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable - quietest rooms are at the back. Good value buffet breakfast. We would have no hesitation staying there again.

Varied breakfast which we appreciated. The first morning some confusion as to find cups since a big party has used almost all. Good service otherwise, both at breakfast and by the reception. They also kept our luggage after checkout for our late flight. I suggest that ventilation noise is attenuated during the night; my wife was bothered by it.

The staff were friendly and there were no problems at all with the room. However, the breakfast was very expensive for the food provided, the sun terrace was not as nice as expected, and there was no central lounge area to sit down in during the day.

Parking was a problem, staying three days we were not able to get a parking place inside the hotel. No parking allowed in the nearby of the hotel. Had to park some 1km far from the hotel, (uncomfortable and expensive). The day stuff was very helpful and kind. Allowed us to extend the stay for one day at the same room.

The room was small but it was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Front desk was helpful. There's a great "patisserie" across the street for breakfast. Overall, location was excellent. It's difficult driving in Aix - narrow roads, one way streets. The hotel directions were pretty minimal so, if you plan to drive to the hotel, get a detailed map before you go!

We had two rooms. One (a double) was quiet, but the people in the triple were in the front of the hotel and did not sleep for two nights. The personnel at the hotel were the best we had during our two-week travels. It was of primary importance to have parking and they offered it and helped us park the car! The breakfast was good and definitely adequate. The roof terrace was wonderful!

The hotel is nearby the city centre, Aix is a delicious small city. The rooms are very small but clean, and ours was very quiet and airconditioned, so the nights were very pleasant. There is a very useful private garage very near to the hotel, so you can safely park the car in there. The employees are very kind and helpful.

The hotel is very well situated in a great part of town. Everything in town can be easily accessed on foot. The rooms are quite plain but they meet your basic needs and the prices are very competitive. The hotel is supposed to have wireless access in the guest rooms, however it wasn't working during our stay which was disappointing. We never had breakfast at the hotel; there's a fantastic patisserie just across street - great place to get your morning coffee and croissant.

Loved Aix-en-Provemce as a place to stay and would loved to have stayed longer but had only booked one night. The hotel was adequate although very noisy at night as it is near a busy part of the city and there was lots of traffic and late night revellers. For one night the hotel was fine and fairly centrally located althoug Aix is not a big city and can be accesed on foot to most places. The room was of reasonable quality and the price was reasonable given the time of year we stayed although if you don't like budget accomodation then stay elsewhere.

Good location, only 5 minutes walk to the Rotonde fountain, and just across the street from the edge of the Old Town with its many markets. The reception staff were prompt and attentive, and spoke good English. Main room and bathroom were both good sized and could walk around easily without bumping into furniture. Beds were comfy and there was air conditioning!! TV only has French channels, but quite amusing to watch dubbed shows from the US. I would stay here again. Good value and location. Would recommend for all those looking for a good budget hotel.

I had the impression the hotel was under new management and it was evident that the staff were trying very hard to make guests as comfortable as possible. We stayed at Hotel Du Globe 3 days from 24.05.09. and was very satisfied, The rooms are small but if you need a very nice place to stay in, a good price, a hotel with very good atmosphere, good breakfast, you can not find a overall better place as base in this nice city. The hotel is situated in walking distance from everything, the bus stop station Gare Rutier / (connection to nice airport. in ca. 2 hours) can be reached in 15 min, the centrum in AIX just 10 min. We stay definitely in this hotel next time, and can recomand this place to all travelers.

The Globe's location on a busy street had both pluses and minuses. It was a bit difficult to park (the garage is limited, but was doable), and the street noises were a bit loud. (Request a room in the rear). On the other hand, the location was very practical - 15 minutes or less to any site in teh center of town. The view from the room was lovely, looking out over the rooftops toward the center of town. Overll: don't expect great luxury, but for the price it's a very good choice. We would return to this hotel without hesitation.

Hotel is in good location relative to the old town. Felt safe at night walking around. 15 minutes walk to Gare routiere.Good bus access to all parts of Provence and day trips to Avignon, Marseille,Cassis etc easy to do. Excellent Navette service from Marseille Airport to Aix - every 30 minutes. The old town of Aix is a joy. Almost impossible to walk the same route twice - due to the maze of medieval streets. A pleasing mix of food markets, traditional and expensive shops and historical sites.

The hotel is within a short 5 minute walk of the historic centre of Aix. It is fine for a one night stay. It is very clean(almost clinical), non smoking hotel and this point is made very clear. Also, each time we left reception our room key was literally demanded from us and we always felt we were being scrutinised..

It is an old hotel in the old part of Aix en Provence and within walking distance from historic sites. Although the hotel is small, and rooms are also fairly small, hotel staff went out of their way to provide a good service and were utterly helpful and friendly. Most of them could speak a fairly good English. As there are no kettles in the rooms to make coffee or tea, we often asked for a thermos flasked to be filled with boiling water to make our own coffee. Hotel staff assisted us every time without complaining and even joking about it. Hotel rooms were a bit noisy due to the wooden floors and people walking late at night. The only negative is that the cleaning staff are not well trained and did not know how to make up beds properly. Sometimes the beds were made up including covered with a bed spread and sometimes it was left unmade or was partly made up with the bedspread left on a chair. Our towels were also not replaced regularly even although we left the wet towels in the shower as requested. Having said this however, the friendliness and helpfulness of the hotel staff made up for any shortcomings in this regard.

The hotel is a 15-20 min walk from the bus station in Aix. It is situated in a fairly quiet area. There is a lift. The room was clean and quiet (it was at the back so did not overlook the street). Breakfast is available but there are also several bakeries nearby. The old town of Aix is only a few minutes walk away, so a good place to stay if you have limited time to spend sightseeing. There is a small roof terrace with chairs and tables - useful as the room I had was fairly small.

I enjoyed my stay at The Du Globe. The staff were all very helpful in any needs that we had. Th whole hotel was smoke free. The roof top patio was simply beautiful. The location was right near stores and restaurants and the heart of the city. The blinds in the rooms were fantastic! It blocked out the sun completely allowing a tired traveler to get good rest at any time of the day. We enjoyed our stay and would go back.

A lovely little hotel, within Aix. Very helpful staff. The hotel is situated on a well traveled "ring" road of Aix. Therefore, if a quiet room is what you would like, ask for a room "a l'arriere." That solves the issue. We look forward to returning to this hotel.

I booked a room for a single person and it was perfect for my trip. It had a double bed and en-suite with enough room to maneouvre around in. It didn't face onto the street and the window was onto to an enclosed space so it was quiet enough. The hotel is next door to the Thermus Sextus which I highly recommend a trip to. It was also a great location in which to explore the old town as it is literally right next to the old town. It was also convenient to get a bus almost outside the door to the local bus station. There is a roof top terrace which has nice views and a good place to chill out. The staff were lovely.

Excellent stay with friendly service from the various receptionists and good tips about where to go. The Cours Sextius isn't the most beautiful street in Aix (it serves as the inner ring road) but the location is good, an easy walk to the town hall square and the Provençal market with plenty of good restaurants. The single room I took (no. 13) was perfectly fine for the price, clean and comfortable in a quiet courtyard, the only drawback being the tiny bathroom but that won't prevent me from returning. As mentioned in the pages, the bonus is the beautiful view from the terrace over the old town, an ideal place to relax after a day's sightseeing.

Perfect location to discover the town, very close to the old town. Friendly welcome and good advise at the reception. The room had some marks from previous water leakages but was otherwise very properly cleaned. The breakfast buffet was quite poor in a big room what gives a not so good rate for the services and public areas part.

The first room I was given (with a bath which I had requested) was depressing, with a small window opening onto a tiny courtyard. I asked to change and was moved to an upper floor (room with shower only) with no fuss. The rooftop terrace has amazing views.
