Hotel Faedra Beach - Agios Nikolaos

Good accomodation.

Hotel 3km south of Agios Nikolaos at the coast. Excellent halfboard dinner. Perfect place to visit Lassithi plateau, walk through Kritsa gorge or simply relax at the beach.

Great hospitality, good breakfast and food in general. Somewhat noisy as road is right in front. Better to avoid sea view that comes with road view and sounds. Main drawbcak - very cold top layer of water due to river right above. Suggestion - go to next beach towards Nicolaos, 15 minutes walk.

What a wonderful and welcoming place to stay. We arrived very late on our first night and the staff whipped up a lovely dinner even though the kitchen was closed - very much appreciated. Good brekkie too. Situation is lovely - across from a fairly secluded beach (though I imagine busy in Summer)and about 15min from the more touristy Elounda by car (5min for locals!). Car is imperative on Crete. We ate very well at the more authentic eateries. Would have liked to stay longer. Will definitely be back. Thanks Guys!... Be advised Venere - your directions are wrong. You need to bypass Ag. Nik. on the main road. Ammoudara beach is a couple of beaches south.

Hotel Faedra Beach was a nice place for special, favorite guests. If not for the nearby bar and the big, trafficing road between the hotel and the beach - nothing will have happen! The tall manager do nothing to help you for service. He take care of special guests and do whatever for them. This is not normal. But the little, servicelady who crossing the road with the beer, did a exellent job. So at all: A nice place there nothing happen.

This hotel is about 2 star by UK standards, but for the price it was good value. It's in a beautiful location and just a short taxi drive from Agios Nikolaos, but too far to walk. Very clean room, on the small size, with a functional en-suite and very mini kitchenette. Sadly, there was a dividing door (padded) between our room and the next, so we clearly heard our neighbours moving around in the morning, and they must certainly have heard us arriving at 1 in the morning! As our room was to the rear of the hotel, it was otherwise quiet. The road that divides the hotel from the beach is actually not too busy and is fairly quiet at night. The beach, set in a beautiful sheltered bay, is sandy and the water shallow and crystal clear. The proprietor was very friendly, helpful and personable and his staff were efficient. A good option for a relaxed few days and convenient to explore Kritsa, Kritsa Gorge,Karmarthi plateau, Ag Nik and many other beautiful places in the area. A car is a must if you are to travel easily. The directions on the venere website are incorrect - do not go into Ag Nik, but continue along the national highway towards Sitia - Faedra Beach Hotel is on this road, about 3 km from Ag Nik.

Good location. 5 minutes in the car from Agios Nikolaos. Good room size, with small kitchenette and balcony.

Great views from the balcony (even from inside the room) Beautiful. The hotel has no elevator. The stairs are not too high but remembr they exist. I just returned and I am already trying to figure out how I can go back.

While the hotel was nice in appearance there were two major problems we encountered during our stay. First, the hotel is not located in the center of Agios Nikolaos (as it appears to be on the website)but about a 2km walk away. The second & more serious of the problems was how their staff handled private matters with their guests. We unfortunately discovered first hand that the staff of Faedra Beach do not respect the privacy of their guests. We left feeling embarrassed and violated. On a positive note...the beach, pool, food & view were all beautiful. We did leave with pleasant memories of Agio Nikolaus...and would love to return someday. Unfortunately, we would never stay at Faedra Beach again nor do we recommend it to future travelers of Crete.

Routing indications are totally wrong!!! the hotel is not in Agios nikolaos near the port, but out of the city, about 3km south, at amoudara beach, on the road to Sitia! but if you have rent a car, is good: in few minutes you are in Agios Nikolaos or everywhere you want!!!
