A long walk from the train station through narrow alleys that seemed like a bit seedy. But we didn't actually encounter any problems. However, they did insist on charging extra for being able to get the remote to turn on the air conditioner.

The only thing is that they rooms are quite noisy, with thin walls. Other than that, the rooms are cleaned every day, small but sufficiently comfortable, and the price is really low, so if you don't mind a bit of noise, it's a real good pick, especially if you have business near the university. Air conditioning doesn't work (but isn't announced either), but you can lend ventilators.

Not quite at the centrum, but not badly off it either. The surroundings are quite offputting, with dark and narrow alleys. The toilet was somewhat yellow and there were bugs in the bathroom. Still, it was okay for the price we payed.

The staff was unfriendly and the bathroom ugly. The beds were uncomfortable. In Palermo there are much better and cheaper albergos.

ON THE WHOLE THE STAY WAS OK . JUST ONE SMALL NOTE I AM CONVINCED £30WENT MISSING FROM MY BAG BUT I DID NOT NOTICE TILL THE LAST NIGHT BECAUSE I WAS NOT USING ANY ENGLISH MONEY. I DID EXPLAIN THIS TO THE RECEPTION BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT DUE TO THE LANGUAGE BARRIER I EVANTUALLY GOT THE RECEPTION TO UNDERSTAND BUT THEY SAID THERE WAS LITTLE THEY COULD DO WHICHIS QUITE UNDERSTANDABLE. THIS BRINGS TO POINTS TO CONSIDER 1.DURING MY FIRST STAY WHICH WAS , I ADMIT ON THE 4TH FLOOR I HAD A WINDOW WHICH WOULD NOT CLOSE AND WHETHER ANYBODY COULD HAVE GOT IN THERE 2. I DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE USE THE HOTEL BUT MOST OF THE STAFF SPOKE VERY LITTLE OR NO ENGLISH WHICH I WAS SURPRISED ABOUT

CASA MARCONI in Palermo, Sicily is a dormitory which rents out some rooms to travellers. It is located in the university area of the city and there is very good access to public transportation (both bus and subway). If you want to, you can even walk to the main station. The rooms are either single or double bed rooms and have very small bathrooms that offer no luxury. The linens were clean as was the room. In the summer it can get very hot as there is no A/C. A fan is offered upon request. The breakfast consists of pacakged toast, bread and some jelly and is served in the cafeteria. Nearby there is a supermarket and a nice Pizzeria which plays modern music and is open until late at night. Overall, we think CASA MARCONI is a good option for the young traveller.

This hostel was sooo noisy and sooo hot. There was no window, only a door to the patio that has access to the street. We could not close the door or we would roast, so we had to set up booby traps to make sure we would be alone in the room or we would know from the noise that someone was in there with us. We were glad we only had booked one night.

no hotel-standart - no comfort, but also to expensive for backpacker level. Don`t try to walk or drive by bus from "Palermo Centrale" if you haven't been to Palermo before!! Take the station "Stazione Orleans" it's just a few minutes away. Staff does speak italian - nothing more, nothing less!! But Palermo itself is a great town - join it - love it and if you have some extra time travel to Catania in the south west of sizily and take a deep breath of the traditional italian way of live!

I payed 60 euros for a double: poor room, poor bath and shower and quite noisy. After that, I found out than they charge 60 euros to the costumer who books through internet and 30 if the costumer books directly there. Incredible. You don't have to pay more than 30 for a double. This kind of experiences make the people think that is better not to use internet...

This is a clean, pleasant place to stay. It is nothing fancy, but it provided good beds and a good bathroom. The staff was friendly and helpful. We sometimes ate in the student cafeteria on the lower level. The food was surprisingly good and very inexpensive. The neighborhood is a little dicey at night. Someone tried to steal my purse on the street. The hotel is close to shops and a supermarket. It is about a 15 minute walk to the center. We were very pleased with the Casa Marconi.

We were favourably impressed considering the comparitively low cost. The breakfast wasn't up to much, but we didn't have great expectations. The staff were reserved, mainly due to language I think, but helpful and efficient.

We were disappointed with our stay at Casa Marconi. It was by far the worst B&B we had during our 2 weeks in Sicily. Especially the bathroom was in poor shape. Add to that the work in progress on the building and the breakfast area, and our stay was less than enjoyable.

I really liked Casa Marconi. With EUR 32 I did not expect much but it turned out to be a nice hostel (or hotel). I had a shower in the room, and although it obviously was no Ritz, it was a very nice place to stay at an affordable price. Even though I did not spend much time at the hotel, the terrace going around the building was great and I'm sure it is very nice in the summer. All in all, I could recommend Casa Marconi to anyone who does not require too many fancy amenities like tv or minibar. Cordialemente, Seppo Kuusinen

The place is mainly used by university students. It is in the SW ancient side of the city (which is very poor and fallen to ruins). On foot, it is 15' away from the central railway station, and 5' from the Orleans' one (they call it Metrò). Both them are connected to the airport. Shops are in Corso Tukory. On foot, Normanni's Palace is 10' away, 4 Canti's Square is 20' away. The building has been restored recently and equipped with a modern lift, fire extinguishers, a wide canteen (only breakfast on Sat & Sun). Receptionists were polite and discreet. The place was noisy on evening, noisless on night. My single room had a small bathroom with a shower, hot water night & day, cheap new small furniture, 220V sockets (both bath & room), a phone, no tv-set. Room cleanings were made daily, but the wardrobe was a bit dusty when I arrived. The included breakfasts were small and in the Italian style. In my opinion, the relationship between price/quality is good in Palermo city.

The hotel was very similar to a youth hostel, we didn't find the room ery clean and the hotel wasn't located in a very safe area of Palermo. The good points were: the price was qiute reasonable and it was qiute close to the old historical part of Palermo.
