It was a nice location, not far from the city center, and the staff was very nice and helpful. We forgot all our documents in the room and have called in around 4 hours after check-out and they managed to find our stuff and gave it to my husband when he returned to the Anker Hostel (coming all the way from Göteborg :-(( ). We got an entire 8 beds room just for us (3 persons), it was clean and overall ok for a hostel, but the price is rather high for this type of accommodation. But I suppose it has to be like that in Oslo, everything is super-expensive there...

I made the booking on line and I booked a doble room but when we arrived they give us a room for 8 people. The room was just for us but we had separet beds. They left 6 bed place and they tell people that the hostel was full for the night (?) The toilet wasn't really clean.

Me and my family we are used to stay in hostels. In Oslo we were very disappointed about the standard of the hostel. First of all, the whole hostel is very dirty and I didn´t see anybody who was cleaning the rooms or the staircase. We had a very large room, but the furmiture was in a very bad state. There wasn´t anything in the kitchen, although there was one in the room. The Prices in Oslo are high and it´s really hard to find a cheap hotel, but nevertheless the anker hostel is not a good alternative.

We were looking for an economical place to stay in Oslo for a single night, and found the Anker Hostel to be clean, efficient and reasonably central, although the walk from the train station took us through a rather seedy area. We had booked a double room but were put in a dorm room with lots of bunk beds, which was much more space than we needed, but was not a problem. There was a lot of noise from outside through the night, which was unfortunate, and not really the hostels fault, Otherwise we were happy enough with the room and would stay there again if travelling on a tight budget.

In relation to other kinds of accomodation in Oslo, this hostel is a cheap and quite good possibility to stay. Especially if you stay just a couple of days in Oslo, because it´s quite close to the city-centre and the most important things you can reach by walking. Our double-room was fine, quiet and clean. The only real problem was the welcoming: The stuff sent us to the wrong buildung (the hostel is connected with accomodation-buildings for students, and our room was there). When we came back and asked again for the right way, he insisted to be right. So we tried again - without success. Finally - with the help of another employee, we found the right building, which of course was somewhere else. Altogether, we spent more than 1 hour to search for our room in the late evening because of incompetent stuff ... and nobody said sorry for this. So in general this hostel is a good and cheap possiblity for your stay in Oslo - but don´t trust the stuff if they send you to "House No. 5" in the middle of the night ...

Overall our stay was okay. But the rooms where not very clean, though acceptable. The stairs and elevators looked 100 years old and didn't have an friendly appearance. The doors are heavy and make a lot of noise when opened or closed. We read on the internet that the staff was rude and not friendly, but we have a different opinion. The staff was helpful and not rude at all. The neighbourhood is not the best one. There are a lot of people on the streets, often togehter in groups. It didn't make us feel very safe, although nothing bad happened. If you want to go to Oslo, it is acceptable to stay in the Anker Hostel, but there are a lot of better hostels in the world.

This is a clean and inexpensive (by Norwegian standards) hostel. Not in the best part of town but close to the railway station and the bus to the museums stopped practically right outside, so it was a very convenient location. The shower was strong and hot - just what we needed. It was nice to have our own bathroom. It is possible to walk to the palace and the central part of town from the Anker Hostel.
