Aptly named Samanapaq or 'Place to Rest', this welcoming Urubamba, Cusco, Peru budget hostel won't let you down if you are looking for a traditional Peruvian accommodation and home-like atmosphere at affordable room price. More precisely, the Hostal Samanapaq is located in the Ollantaytambo district in an area better known as the sacred Valley of Incas.

Our group of four 65+ Americans had a great 3-night experience at the hotel. It's much closer to the plaza than I had thought. Just a few blocks, but just far enough to be out of the hubbub of the tourist activity in the center of town. The gardens are relaxing (perfect for lying in the grass at night and star gazing) and there is a warming fire at night in the lounge. The rooms are simple. Nothing fancy but we like it that way. Breakfast room cheerful and food more than ample. The senora who owns the place is ever-present with a cheerful smile and always wanting to help. Her English is limited as is her staff's, but that's what makes travel fun!

James, his wife and staff were extremly friendly and welcoming always with a smile on their faces. It was a little expensive, but Well worthy. The grounds were well kept and beautiful. The location was great, peaceful and quite. The rooms well kept, clean, cozy, cute, and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet which was included was better than many other hostals. The staff was always helpful and diligent with recomendations, lugagge storage and shuttle service. I traveled with my mom who is 65 and we were very pleased. We would definitely stay at the Samanapaq again.

We loved this hotel. They arranged to pick us up from the airport at a reasonable price. When we arrived at the hotel we were graciously welcomed and taken to our room. The grounds are very peaceful with vibrant gardens. The staff was very helpful arranging transportation and attending to our needs. One thing I would recommend earplugs if you are a light sleeper because drivers in Peru are very horn-happy (we found this with all the hotels we stayed at). I loved this hotel! I'm glad we stayed in Ollantaytambo instead of any other town in the Sacred Valley because it was overall the nicest looking and we felt safest here. It was also a pretty central location to explore the Sacred Valley
