Two main problems: 1) the ensuite toilets are actually just outside the room. This means the toilet is private but you have to exit your room to use it. 2) the ostel does not have the elevator. Our room was on the 5th floor and having big suitcases and my girlfriend being pregnant it was really hard to do it! Surroundings are not really wonderful but the Ostel is situated near the public transport and very close to the east side Gallery.

Day one: Can't check in until 4.00pm. arrive with luggage and walk up to top floor (5th?) with luggage. Bath towel supplied is the size of a kitchen towel. Day 2: Shower hose broken in shared bathroom, and the bath plug wouldn't seat properly. The only way to wash was to squat in the bath with my heel pushing stopper into drain. Day 3: I return to my room with upset stomach with urgent need to get to bathroom. I wait over 20 minutes while a couple in the bathroom wash etc. I finally get to use the toilet, but alas, no toilet paper. Shower hose is now replaced, so I can wash myself using soap and water. This is a cheap hostel, and it exceeds its promise for a DDR austerity experience. Only for the hardy.
