If you only need a place to sleep and have a hot shower at a reasonable price, then Hostal Montorena is fine. The rooms are cramped and if your room is near the bathroom or front door, expect some noise. Overall OK for a short stay - we were there for three nights.

Hostal Pension Montorena was as I expected - an older type of pension with wonderful charm. Though my spanish is not the best we were able to communicate with the staff who did their best to make us feel comfortable in spite of the language barrier. We had a double room - 2 single beds pushed together, 2 bedside tables, a bureau large enough to put our bag on, a large leather chair in the corner with a medium sized TV mounted above it. The shared bath was next door - the security excellant. Not only was the hotel very clean, but also the pathways, which had a beautiful stone design, to get to it from the car which had to be parked in the square nearby. If someone is looking for luxury for a cheap price - it's not the place to stay, but for a couple of nights where one plans on being out and about in Sevilla - it's excellant for the price and in an amazing location to old Sevilla. My daughter and I found it perfect for us :) Enjoy!

Fantastic hotel -- i would highly recommend staying there to anyone on a backpackers´ budget. The building is beautiful, particularly the atrium. nothing beats coming out of your room and stepping into an open hall-way/common room that is bathed in natural light.

One drawback was the shared bathroom. This would have been fine if there was a separate toilet. We were sharing with 5 other people and getting to the toilet was sometimes difficult. Position was excellent and price/service ratio was great. Not too far from buses either.

One bathroom and hot water are shared by 3 rooms so if other guests take baths instead of showers (our experience) it is a significant annoyance. Quite noisy. Easy enough to find, but directions should be from the nearby main street where the hotel has its own signs. Has wifi. Central and good value all considered.

Very well located right in the center of Barrio Santa Cruz, staff very friendly, cute small bedroom, beautiful shared areas, I loved my 3 night stay there in that wonderful city and definitely recommend it!

A hostel worth of money. Rooms are a bit small but with regards to the room rate it is OK. Quiet except the rooms facing the alley. It could be a little noisy when many people walk past in the morning. There was no hot water supply in the four-people family room round the back corner. Note:ask the receptionist if there are any hidden charges in addition to the room. My group was told to pay three euros for the day use of heater in the family room and noobody told us at the time of check-in. Avoid room #101, the no-window room.

The room was so little that we had problems in placing or storing our stuff. the sourrounding was quite noisy (window by the street, even without cars!) but apparently it's quite typical for the centre of sevilla. it's no problem to store the luggage there after the check out what was really a relieve.

The staff wasn't very nice or welcoming, the room was really small, there's only one bathroom per floor and was often occupied...the terrace was very nice and the general look of the hostel was typical and beautiful...the location of the hostal was a little difficult to find in the begging (even the cab drivers didn't know where street 'san clemente' was...) but in the end our stay at hostal montorena was fine (but it could have been better!)... Ps: they charge you 3 euros/day for the air conditioning, and 1 euro/day for the wi-fi connection that at the moment of our stay didn't work....

Reading the comments before leaving had scared me a little, but I needed a cheap accomodation so I opted for it anyway! I'm completely happy and satisfied with my choice. A great accomodation if you are not too demanding: very nice employees, wonderful position, shared bathroom but always free... I would keep it into consideration for the future for sure!

Closed to the city center (5 min walked). The rooms and the share bathrooms are clean. Rooms are really small and very hot, it's impossible to stay there during the day without the air conditioning.

I thought that it was actually quite nice. The reviews we had read where not very good so we felt we were taking a risk by going but it turned out to be a really nice place in a perfect location. We did go when it wasn't so busy so it was quiet but I guess if you choose a hostel that is always a risk you take. A picture of the terrace is missing on the website. That was actually a really nice place to chill out. We spent every evening out there enjoying a bottle of wine and a giggle. The owner that met us was very nice and tried her best to communicate although one of the employees was rather moody. The price was just right too (35 euro for a twin room). Overall we had a great time and we would be happy to recommend it especially if you are there to enjoy Seville on foot.

It was a little noisy but otherwise very nice. Maybe the door buzzer could just sound in the staff room and not be so loud for people in their rooms and maybe the front door could open more quietly.

I think that ii is the worse Hostal I never had in my life ! I didn't have the possibility to quit, because it was the Holy week and all hostals and hotels were full There were no windows. It was very humid and there were no heat system in the room. I got an electric heater in the middle of the night but it was too late : i was already with a big cough. It was very noisy : all the doors have an old system of keys and every time someone was opening his door during the night, I was awakening me.

Well, only I have to say something about this pension: the apartments don't have photos, and when you arrive you don't know where are this apartments. I think that the pension can put some information about it: some photos, prizes, because there are three (perhaps) apartments and if you don't see in person, you can't choose what apartment is better for you. but the important for me and my family was that we were perfectly in the apartment and it was cleaner and prepared for us. thanks to Pension Montoreña for this three nights. How you are in the middle of the Jewish district, you are near to supermarket in the principal street, and you can eat in the streets near to the apartment, and you can go every morning to buy the hot bread and breakfast in your apartment quietly. You are in the middle of old centre city, and if you need return to the apartment, it is near to all.

Hostal Montorena was recently renovated and every thing is clean and new. The black point is the doors: they are very noisy and are slammed each time they are opened or closed. Fortunately we were the sole customers at this time.

An exceptionally clean hotel with adequate facilities for the price offered. Take some warm clothing if you go in the winter! (although heating is available if you pay extra. Lacks possibly a communal lounge with T.V. Very central, 10 mins walk to cathedral. Overall, value for money.

This was very cheap & you get what you pay for (tho' this doesn't have to be an expensive city). Definitely in one of the 'right' parts of town, which is a plus, and train station, bus station, city buses all nearby. I booked it 'cos they had a single room option, even tho' the room i got was a double-for-single price. No towels, which was a definite drag. Shared bathroom isn't usually an issue for me but this one was always in use with eg. Spanish girls doing their hair when there were mirrors & electric points & sinks in their rooms. Think it might have suffered from damp a little, and room was poky, tho' clean. Only cold water in room. Rooms on first floor more expensive (ensuite) and may have been better. Noisy but i expected that in this part of town. Some of the staff were nice, others indifferent.

The price is too high compare to the room. The convertible bed is very low quality and it's difficult to sleep well without having a backache

This hostal is well located in a typical sevillian area. Rooms are clean but really really small, just for sleeping! Staff is just here to clean and open you the door, never to talk with you or indicate you what to do in Sevilla.
