I chose this Hostal as it was in an excellent location for visiting many of the sights my partner and I wanted to visit. We had read good things about the hostal and would agree with what we had read. The hostal did not seem terribly busy when we stayed and we enjoyed our time there. We saw little of other guests but all staff we met were very helpful. For this reason we found the hostal fairly quiet. The air-conditioning was not as efficient as we would have liked in our room though we did manage to sleep quite well.

Room really small, but very well organized. Ideal for relatively short stays. Staff of variable level, but always friendly.

Very nice hotel in a good location, with very helpful staff. It's definitely worth going to but I do recommend trying to book a room at the back as the front rooms can be quite noisy.

We stayed in Hostal Santo Domingo for 3 nights. The hostel is general is nice but some rooms are not for claustrophobic people. Our room was nicely designed: bright colors, spotless linen, convenient double sinks and a really nice shower. The whole hostel has been carefully designed to take advantage of every inch but it can be suffocating. Although the room had enough lamps to reach a cozy impression, it only had a tiny window to a dark courtyard so you never have real daylight. I had the feeling to be in a nice lounge bar, really nice but not to relax. The location can't be more central but it turns quite strange later in the night, something I will consider for my next visit to Madrid. The internet service worked wonderfully and the staff was always helpful and kind.

Everything is OK, modern and clean, personel is welcomming but single rooms are very small, public area has no window. Some double rooms are just in front of reception and this seems noisy. One can find better for the price (60 euro single room)

Me encantó, vale la pena el hostal, los empleados muy atentos, las habitaciones pulcras y diseñadas como un mini hotel de lujo. Aparte silencioso y bien ubicado.

This was a charming, welcoming place to stay. The staff were quite nice and spoke Engish as well as Spanish. It was a bit hard to locate the first time - its on Calle de Luna. There was a fair/festival going on in the plaza in front of the hostel the week we were there. There was live music which was nice - but things were shutdown and quiet by midnight. This was about a block from one of the busier streets - so things were pretty quiet, the windows were also insulated so we could close up the room if we needed to. We had a fantastic dinner at Comomelocomo at Calle de Andres Borrego 16 - a quick 5 min walk from the Santo Domingo.

The hostal made great use of its small space. It does not look like much from the outside but they have done a great job on the inside. Very modern decor although the the blanket (black and furry) is a bit tacky and look like a dead animal. The bathroom and shower are new and modern. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Very good place. Only disadvantage: the employees and the owner treat the customer in a too familiar, friendly way. They ask continuously how you feel and the send you a facebook request....

The staff was very helpful and all of them are really nice and friendly - you'll feel like you are at home at this place; additionally the staff is there 24h a day. No option for breakfast, but you really don't need it in madrid with that many cafes. We will surely visit this place again when we return to Madrid.

The only regret I have about this place is that I did not know just how great it would be and did not book it for long enough. I'm sure the rest of the rooms are good but I highly recommend room 201. The only drawback is that the rest of the building is in pretty bad shape, but I understand that it is in the process of being remodeled. In any case I cannot think of enough good things to say about my stay there.
