Hostal Persal - Madrid

The staff is very kind and speak several languages. I was traveling alone. The breakfast was super!! but I had to pay it and it was not included in the price of the room. The breakfast price of Euro 7,50 was reasonable. My stay in Persal was very nice

Very good hotel

The room was satisfactory but there was alot of noise in the hallways. The staff were very welcoming and breakfast was good. The location is very good on Plaza Angel near Puerto del Sol and Santa Ana. A great budget choice.

We chose a room at the front so we could see the bustle of the street, but we could have chosen a quieter room at the back. The hotel is right in the centre of the city with lots of restaurants and things happening around it. Good value for money. Spacious clean room.

The quality of breakfeast is poor.

We liked the location, just beside the Plaza de Santa Ana, an area that is good for bars and restaurants. It's also central for visiting most of Madrid's attractions. Our room was at the rear, and very quiet. It was fairly basic, but at the price, it would be unreasonable to expect more. The included buffet breakfast was also basic, but was also acceptable at the price level (it was more than just coffee and a roll, which is what I had supposed we would get). We did not have a great deal of interaction with the staff, but they all appeared polite and helpful. Not all of them spoke fluent English, but we managed to conduct our business effectively. There is a restaurant downstairs in the building: "Ginger". I'm not sure it is actually part of the hotel or an independent operation, but we had a very enjoyable dinner there, also at a very attractive price. I'd rate Hostal Persal as a "find".

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Hostal Persal. We have traveled to 15 countries in Europe and this hotel rates high for quality, price, service, and location. The rooms were quite spacious by European standards. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast buffet was very good. The location of this hotel in Madrid couldn't be any better. Most major sights are within walking distance, and the metro station is only a four or five minute walk. There are many shops restaurants in the area.

Fantastic location just in the centre of the city. All interesting places are within 15 - 20 minutes walking. A junction metro station only 500 meters from the hotel - so you can save a lot of money if you will travel from the airport with a metro instead of taxi. Atocha railway station is nearby, so you can easily go to such tourist areas as Toledo or El Escorial. All main museums of the city are also very close to the hotel. A lot of restaurants and bars with reasonable prices around. Rooms are small, but clean. Equipment in the bathroom is not new, but everything is working. Staff is friendly and speaks English. Factually there are only three negative moments: breakfast is very basic, hot water pressure is unsufficient and (as it was stated in lot of reviews) the level of noise is too high especially in the morning when guests are slaming the room doors. Resuming - a good place for its price, especially for self-guided tourists that need only a place to sleep at night.

For a budget hotel this was a good as it gets. Rooms could do with a coat of paint but quite clean. Beds were quite hard but clean. B/fast was good. Staff were helpful, but if you are going to Madrid beware of pickpockets at all times.

The only complain is for a noise from an air-conditioner outside the room. Excellent breakfast!

Hola!The hotel is right in the crowd city-center,if you want to go bed early it is not the place for you ,but if you want to live the "movida" you are in the right place.All mayors sights are walkable distances .Rooms are small but clean and cosy.Bathroom is really small but there is everything in it.Excellent relationship between price/quality.

When I first ordered the room at a very reasonable rate, I did not have high expectations to the quality of the hotel. However, I was very positively surprised from the first moment. The staff was very nice, and spoke excellent English. The room and the cleaning was very decent. The breakfast, included in the price (!) was basic but all high quality and fit for purpose - nicely supervised by the manager himself. And lastly, as a first time visitor to Madrid, the location was really in the bull's eye for a tourist. I also noted some refurbishment going on, and the fire safety and equipment seemed to be fully compliant with regulations (a previous customer has some doubts on that). I can really recommend Hostal Persal.

I think the Hostel is very good positioned in Madrid and quite nice compared to higher quality hotel. Maybe the price is a little bit superior compared to his general quality (rooms are not so big and unfortunately not sound covered; the breakfast buffet could be more continental and various). But in general it is a good location to spend a few days in Madrid.

1/ The pic on the website is far better than the one we've had. Dishonest ! 2/ No fire exit at the end of the lobbies. In case of fire at the beginning of the lobbies, between the staircase and the room, all guests would be trapped. No exit by the window either, as the room looks over a closed space. 3/ The view is limited to the room in front of the window, 3 meters far.
