The room was extremely noisy (I could hear everything of what was going on in the hostel) and the staff surprisingly unwelcoming (they hardly said hello or goodbye...). 33 euros is Cheap for a room in Central Madrid but I would recommend anyone to try to find another hostel as there are so many around Puerta del Sol.

Hotel extremely well situated, next to Plaza del Sol, subway and restaurants. We had a room for 4 (only one such room) and it was really a room for 3 in which another bed was added. There was not enough room to open the suitcases at once, barely 30cm (1 foot) between beds. However if you just need the room to sleep and spend the rest of the day visiting, the place is perfect. For the size of the room, the place seemed pricy compare to other places we'd stayed. There was working A/C and the staff was very nice and willing to help.

Couple, 7 days. Excelent placed. Kind and nice staff. Some hostel indication/orientation signs to be displayed both to the building gate and to the elevator. Bilingual better. It was a pleasure to be hosted at Madris Hostel. If I shall be back, definetely I shall choose again that hoste.

We are a mature couple. We stayed in Madrid for 7 days. We were upgraded to an excellent studio apartment with kitchen facilities, washing machine and WIFI and air con.. It was on a very quiet corner .. no street noise, but occasional noise from inconsiderate guests in the corridor. Reception was welcoming, excellent English. Location was perfect on a small quiet side-street only 100 metres from Sol Plaza, and about 400 metres along a pedestrian street from Plaza Mayor.I can highly recommend this Hostal.

We were greeted with a lot of warmth and immediately offered an upgrade -which we took (we stayed in the upstairs 2 bedroom apartment for an extra 5 euro a night). This was wonderful... and even though it was a holiday weekend, when we requested an extra night- this was no problem. They immeduately found us a suitable room. Very central location but nicely tucked away. Would definitely stay here again if we were on a budget.

We explicitly requested an innercourt room for four days. This was not available and we initially placed in a room above the street (noisy). When we complained we obtained an innercourt appartment at an extra price of €10. Price quality was excellent.

I was upgraded to a double room free of charge because all the singles were taken. The bathroom was small, but adequate. I also had a balcony that looked out into the streets. The free wireless was greatly appreciated and the location was very good for the sights I was looking to see. The staff was friendly and spoke English quite well. There's an elevator that holds 2 people without luggage, or 1 person with, which was nice considering it was on the 2nd floor. I felt very safe when walking back late at night, even as a single female traveller. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby, as well as fast food joints. I decided to stay an extra night and they were very accommodating and switched around their plans so I could keep my room. They also let me leave my luggage at the front desk free of charge while I went out for brunch on the day I checked out. The negatives: I could hear everything from my room. (Things happening on the street and things happening in the hotel.) I sometimes found it hard to sleep, even with earplugs, unless I was completely exhausted. Overall, I would recommend this hostal to others with the warning that earplugs are a must.

Brilliant central location, had a quiet room at the back, good hospitality, friendly, bed comfy, ensuite great, cheaper option than a hotel and just as good in my opinion, if you're just after somewhere to lay your head for a night or 2. Free wifi which worked, unlike some of the hotels, which we needed to book accommodation for our onward travel. As if it mattered, the towels were NOT threadbare, as someone stated! Prices cheaper if you book online.

Spectacular location. We got a free upgrade to an inner apartment (which as actually better for noise interference but had no view, if that mattered). The towels etc were old and worn but clean, and the beds (this seems a common problem in Spain!) are not fixed to anything, so they move around. But for sheer proximity to evrythig this was a great deal.
