Location was GREAT just minutes on foot from Opera Metro stop, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. The staff was very helpful. My room was small but it was clean and provided the basics for me traveling solo. My only negative was the very loud noise on the street that kept me awake one night. Ask for a room in the back and you have the makings of a great budget hotel experience in Madrid.

Madrid is an expensive place to be, so this hotel is great value for money. It's just off the Puerta de Sol and Plaza Mayor, and a perfectly reasonable walking distance from the Prado and other galleries. The area itself is very busy, especially at the weekend, but was not unduly noisy once inside the hotel, and I felt very safe walking around at night. This is definitely a budget choice, but the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I don't know if all the rooms are small, like mine was, but the hotel ("hostal" is the correct description) is ideal if you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay. It has real character!

The stay was nice .the hostal was in the centre of every thing close to 2 train station 1 min away from Opera & the other 5min walk away from Sol. walk distance from Gran viva main street. it was the best choice , i could walk any where i needed to get too. 1 small issue the male cleaner talk too loud , so it can be disturbing when resting, i donot think he aware he is loud. but helpful person. so i wasn't able to tell him since i only speak english

The doble room was brilliant to stay there. All service with a little fridge with some drinks. Everything very cleam, even the badroom. I guess we were the noisest people there so i highly recommend to use this place.

The room was fine for the price. It was quiet, we requested it like that thanks to the tips in Venere site. The bed was very small for two people and the TV didn't work properly, seems there is no signal in the building. I found the toilet/bathroom very good; we could see it was new compared to the rest of the room. The location of the hotel is excellent.

Excellent location (right in the center of Madrid, next to Plaza Opera). Very Clean. You don't need to get breakefast in the hotel 'cause it's sorrounded by lots of bars and restaurants. Exactely what you expect from the description and photos provided in the website. The only bad thing: the housekeepers are very noisy, the speak loudly early in the morning and they wake you up.

Pros - It was all about location for me and that's exactly what i got. Great location, AC worked, everything was clean and comfortable. Cons - There was some confusion over the booking and they wanted to charge an extra night. This was mostly down to a language barrier, but was resolved in the end. Conclusion - For value for money, location and comfort i would probably try and stay there again if i go back to Madrid.

The only advantage for me was location as the hotel is in a very center of the city and just 2 minutes from subway station. Minuses – bad noise isolation, rooms are very small.

As a retired couple we have deviated from our previous practice of arriving at a location and looking for suitable budget accommodation. We found this place easily on the web. We are travelling on a limited budget and found this place comparable with YHA Hostels that we tended to use fifteen years ago Though our Spanish is limited we had no trouble in being understood by staff and the converse.

Really good Hostal for the price paid, would highly recomend if your looking for budget accomdation, basic but very clean and tidy. The only issue was the shower which didn't stay on the wall when in use and the noise banging doors etc...but that's it really...

My wife and I spent three nights here. First, the positive. All in all a very clean establishment with a very convenient location and very good value. Some minor aggravations. We booked and confirmed a twin room, but none was available the first night of our stay. We stayed in a double which was very small but very clean. Service was inattentive and not always friendly - our request for an extra pillow was met with a frown; the reception desk was not occupied many times during the day and early evening so we waited to talk to someone; the receptionist became surly and defensive when I asked about an adjustment to the billing for our first night stay to the price of a double room (she insisted that a twin room meant a room for two people). Also depending on the room there can be some street noise at night from truck traffic.

Absolutely value for money. I will sure come back there if in Madrid. Newly furnished, not spacious room but enough for a few days if you're not a demanding traveller, it would have been perfect if we had the shower unit in the bathroom. Quiet even if at a few steps from Plaza del Sol, just 50mts away from Opera metro station. Kind staff, free internet access at each floor. A great discovery for a cheap and cosy weekend break in Madrid.
