A great value Madrid hostal! For travellers looking for a 2-star hostal in Madrid centre, close to all the city’s best sights, and excellent value for money, Hostal Aguilar really ticks all the boxes. Offering budget accommodation in Madrid, guests staying here will feel the city at their fingertips, while at the same time staying in a pleasant and comfortable environment.

Excellent central location!

This 2 star hostal in Madrid is in the heart of the city, perfect for getting around on foot, but also a mere 3-minute walk from Sevilla and Sol Metro stations, from which exploring the city will be even easier. Barajas Madrid Airport (MAD) can easily be reached by underground too, so you won’t need to waste time and money getting into the city. 300 metres from the hostal and you’ll find yourself in Puerta del Sol, Madrid’s focal point, a great meeting place for locals and visitors alike; in the streets departing from this gorgeous square, you’ll find shopping heaven, with loads of top Spanish and International brands, quirky shops, superb bars and amazing restaurants. A few blocks down the road is Plaza Mayor, a majestic, elegant Habsburg-era square and another fantastic place for a stroll or a drink in one of its al fresco cafés and bars.

Eat, drink and party in style!

Fun-loving travellers will think they’ve hit the jackpot in Madrid. This is undoubtedly a city that knows how to have fun, and after dark areas such as La Latina and Malasana come alive with vibrant bars and clubs, while all over the city you won’t be short of excellent spots for dining on yummy tapas, gorgeous seafood, patatas bravas or excellent meat dishes; whatever your budget and scene, you certainly won’t be short of options during your stay in Madrid.

Brilliant for art lovers!

The Aguilar Hostal is ideal you’re planning to explore world class museums and art galleries during your Madrid city break or holiday. You’ll be a 10 minute stroll away from the Prado museum, one of the Europe’s finest, featuring the best known works of Spanish masters such as Goya and Velazquez, as well as superb paintings from many more Italian, Flemish and French artists. The excellent Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is also just around the corner, with a top collection of European art, while less than 15 minutes away you will find the Reina Sofia Museum, an absolute must-see, if only to gaze at Pablo Picasso’s masterpiece, Guernica. Housed in a former hospital, it is a wonderful place which blends old and new, tradition and modernity, and hosts great works by the likes of Dali, Mirò, Braque and many more.

A lovely place to relax!

After a busy day, filled with exciting activities, Aguilar Hostal offers simple, comfortable and affordable accommodation, superior to that of most hostals in Madrid. The hostal is located on the second floor of a lovely 19th century building; among Madrileños, it is known for being the place where the first cinema projection in Spain took place, and used to be a favourite haunt of Ernest Hemingway when he would visit the city. The hostal’s friendly and helpful service helps make it a great place to stay for groups of friends, couples and families looking to explore this lovely city without spending a fortune. Aguilar Hostal features a lounge area with satellite TV, free wireless internet access and 24 hour reception.

Simple and clean hotel in the very center of Madrid. Located on second floor, but there is a slow elevator. Excellent value for price

We have appreciated the situation of the hotel : it is in the centre and it is fabulous to walk around. The only problem is the lack of quietness.

Stayed in the Aguilar overnight with my wife before continuing a weekend break in Spain. It was the first time in Madrid so maybe we were no ready for the first impressions as we climbed up the well worn wooden stairs yo the 'hostal'.Once we were in our sanctuary we were fine the room was clean and the bathroom worked as did the coffee machine in the communal area. Very close to Sol and well placed for a brief tourist trip. An overnighter rather than a comfortable place to retire to between bouts of exploring.

This hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of all the big attractions. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean. It's pretty basic, but then when in Madrid you're not going to want to spend too much time in your hotel room. The one disadvantage is that when we stayed there was a group of young people staying and their pre-party partying did create a fair bit of noise late at night (11pm-ish). I suppose the best way to deal with this would be to stay out until the small hours, but alas, those days are over for me and my husband! That said, it was only on the Friday and Saturday nights that this happened; there was no noise on the Thursday and Sunday nights. All in all, it's a great hotel for a short stay in Madrid.

Inside the walls and very clost to most attractions. Friendly and helpful staff although rooms are not large or modernized.

Quality is ok for the price. Good accommodation for short stays (1 or 2 days). I wouldn't stay more than that.
