after registering and paying for the 4-night stay with my bank card, i was shown to a room the size of large broom closet just in front of the desk and adjacent to the entrance. When i asked for a quieter room further away, I was given a room the size of a normal broom closet. Having been told the hotel was non-smoking, I had to put up with the cigarette smoke coming from the room next door and the "lounge" down the hall, being told "there was nothing they could do" about guests who chose to ignore the no-smoking policy. I then had to endure the yapping of the family dog, kitchen noises and fish fry-up smells coming from the owners flat adjacent to my room and sharing the same dismal air well. When we tried to check out the next day we were told there was a 48 hour cancellation policy, so checked out two days later instead. At this point the none-too-pleasant owner tried to deny me a refund for the fourth night, saying he would have to pay Venere for the four nights in any case. A very unpleasant experience. Avoid this miserable "hostal" at all costs.

Rooms and bathrooms were very clean. My bathroom was more spacious than I had expected. The room, however, required a bit of physical agility to move around, as it was small for the size of the bed. Staff was friendly. Location was very good--I love being among the beautiful and elegant buildings on Gran Via. Overall a good place to stay, but I have gotten a much better deal, slightly more convenient location, and much more spacious and attractive rooms at the Hotel Ateneo.

We enjoyed our stay here. The man who runs the place was very helpful. The rooms are nice, very clean, but tiny. We weren't spending a lot of time in the room so the size didn't matter a lot.

Hotel correcto, con una buena atención y ubicación. La habitación un poco pequeña. Hay un error de ubicación en el mapa del web, no está cerca de la Plaza de España, sino de la estación de metro de Gran Via.

The rooms are tiny - smallest hotel room I was ever in. Good points are it's very central but having to get escorted up to your room if you out past 11 was a bit of a pain!

Good location, too little the rooms, zero services (hall, bar, public areas). Ok for students and people who use the hotels only to sleep, not for families and people who look for relax time in the hotel too.

Good place to stay for its location and cleaniless. It was spitting distance from the GranVia metro station. It was easy to transfer to and from the aeroport. I like that it was close to all the major attractions (except for prostitutes near Macdonalds - but not to worry they are harmless) and shopping. The place was clean. Although I had a wee size room, I chose this place b/c I didn;t want to share a room with any other strangers. It didn't feel like a hostal it was more like a low end hotel, but for its price, location and cleaniless I would stay again. No frills feel.

The information provided to me said that it was a hotel not an hostal. The room was too small and all. If I had the chance I would have left the hostal. Photografies of rooms does not correspond to actual rooms. You should give me at least half of my money back.

Staff very friendly and helpful. English spoken well. Rooms are basic and clean. Location of this property is superlative-- right downtown in the heart of shopping/dining, near to public transportation, and within walking distance of many of Lisbon's attractions. It is located on a busy pedestrian mall, but as I was on a higher floor, noise was no problem. Overall, a great value for the money. I would definitely stay again.

The place was great for the price! AC in room came in handy for the hot days we experienced during our stay. The room was clean! Location was excellent-a few feet from the metro and a block from the hustle and bustle of streets filled with shops and restaurants!

The room was very clean and the employees are friendly. This hostal places center of the city, so it is good for sightseeing. In the entrance of the building of the hostal there is a man who check the name of hostal. So the security is good. I realy enjoy the days in Madrid.

This small hotel was more than adequate for our needs in Madrid. It is in the heart of the downtown district close to shopping, a variety of restaurants, and history. Although the rooms were not large, they had a warm home-like feel to them. They were very clean with small, modern, private baths. There is no view of the city of Madrid from any of the rooms (we stayed here 2x)we saw, but we were out walking around in Madrid anyway and not spending much time in the room during the day. This inn is small but the rooms were quiet. In fact, we were able to sleep during our first day there after a long flight from the US with us suffering (naturally) with some jetlag. The staff was not chatty but we don't speak a great deal of Spanish so that was understandable. They were very helpful with dinner reservations. After staying the 1st night, we made reservations for 10 days later when we knew we were returning to Madrid for another day We will stay here again if in Madrid.

The rooms were clean and the staff pleasant, but the airconditioning in the rooms was very and noisy and not very effective . On the morning when I checked the air conditioning would not go on at all. I think this was diliberate to get you out of the room faster.

I stay only 1 night, but my opinion is not very good in comparison with another Hostal in Madrid Centre: this Hostal is on "GRAND VIA", very noise and traffic road, The room is very small, The price is quite high for an Hostal (almost double of other hostal I found in Madrid). You are also quite far from Night entrtainment in MADRID (small Pub or local where You can find "Madrid MOVIDA". In general speakin I don't think I will come back in this Hostal

Whilst this hotel is a little difficult to find, being situated on just one floor of a building and the sign outside is a little on the small side. However once inside, the hotel is very clean, the rooms are a little bit small but adequate. Breakfast should you require it, is taken in what during the summer, will be a rooftop terrace.
