Hostal El Pilar - Madrid

A very nice place.It was my first time I stayed at Hostal El Pilar and I hope I will return there many times.As I traveled alone my a room was single.A small one but very comfortable.El Pilar has a beautiful location at the center of the city and is near of La Puerta del Sol.I am very glad and recommend it to everyone who plans a journey to Madrid.

The doors close very noisily, and the walls are thin, so it is very noisy especially at night.

Basic but clean hotel, in a really central position

This is the second time for us at this hostal. Next time, again! Yes, no breakfast, but lots of cheap places around for different kinds of breakfast, lunch and dinner. The receptionist was helpful, the map they provided was good enough for our 6-night stay. The hostal is clean and in a perfect location for a tourist, right at Puert del Sol, the liveliest place in the city. The metro station is right there, so is the Madrid tour bus. This time I was here with my parents, 82 and 84 and had no problems what so ever. Very good value for the location and the service they provide. For newcomers, the hostal is on the second floor of the building and the bell for the hostal is put separately and labelled 'El Pilar'

It's a very good hotel for the location, really in the center of the city, but you don't have to have many expectations for the accomodations.

Considering it is in a capital city it is reasonable value for money. Hotel is in an excellent location in terms of facilities and transport. Staff were very helpful. The only negative point was the noise in the next room (This was only 1 night). No noise could be heard from the street. Would we stay here again. Yes! We will be in a few weeks when we return to Madrid. For those travellers who dont like noice. Afterall this is Europe. Buy some ear/plugs. I use them everynight. Regards Shauna & Claude, Australia.

My original reservation was for one night, but after my flight was canceled, I returned for a second night. I had two different rooms for this stay then. In the first room, I was able to get WiFi in the room, but in the second, there was no signal. There was WiFi in the hallways, but even though they had a bench there, the lights were motion activated so they wouldn't stay on. Meanwhile, the lobby is quite small with only two chairs. Finally, when I used the buzzer to open the door when I was on the street, they took a while to respond and actually open the door. Still, it's a cheap room and next to Sol, so it's not a bad deal if you're just looking for a place to sleep.

A perfect place when you want everything near. No luxuary but we got exactly what we needed: a clean and big family room, friendly nice staff and the Internet! Good breakfast at the café on the top corner.

La camera dava su un cortile interno ed era silenziosa, come avevamo chiesto. Non é un albergo di lusso ma si stava bene. Portarsi il phon e il bagno schiuma perchè non lo forniscono. Il rapporto qualità/prezzo ottimo. Pulito, a buon mercato e a 50 metri da Porta del Sol, il cuore pulsante di Madrid.. Cosa chiedere di più?
