Very convenient location, easy to find, staff very accommodating. Rooms are a little small and bathroom is shared, but these didn't really detract from anything. A thing to point out is that you should bring your own towel; theirs are very stiff and of questionable cleanliness/age.

Everything here is very good. Location is near the metro station so it's easy to go to any attraction. The building is nice and stylist. Hotel owner is very friendly and useful. I will stay here again if I back to Madrid.

The hostel is located around the bar area, it's very noisy in the midnight and you can't sleep. The hostel is asking money for everything, I stayed there for 3 nights, and need to print 1 page of E-ticket then ask for the hostel's help. The lady asked me to pay Euro 1 for 1 page document printed, that's really too much !!!!! The hostel is very dark even in the daytime, and no elevator is killing me, I have to carry the heavy luggage to the 3rd floor by myslef.

Room was small and basic but very clean and neat. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel is on 3rd floor with no lift. Close to metro station. Not bad value for the price in Madrid.

the hostess was so helpful and very friendly and went above and beyond her duty. I would recommend anyone to stay there. But make sure you get a balcony room, they are bright and breezy, non balcony rooms are dark.

Staff extremely warm and welcoming, always very ready to help in any way, and very accvomodating. Location excellent, walking distance to all main sights, about 15 minutes to Gran Via etc, and 2 minutes to Metro station if needed for airport etc. I'd definitely stay here agin if I ever(hopefully) return to Madrid.

Hotel was nice, staff was really nice, location is quite good. There were 2 minuses: 1. They didn't meet us at desired time, but we were lucky to meet another traveller who opened door. 2. They didn't allow us to use their computer - we had to find internet cafe in the region. Everything else was very good!

Considering the price: Excelent value for money. Excelent location and close to metro. Charming neighbourhood. Felt really safe and was close to all sights, good restaurants and good shopping within a walking (or a couple of metro stops) distance away. Really espacious rooms. Clean. Dead quiet street/room, no problem to sleep. Free wifi worked fine. They accept credit card. We had early checkin provided at no cost. Also we had to leave really early in a hurry to our flight, but that was no problem too. The checkout was fast. Stayed there with a friend, we had the twin bed room with bathroom. It was winter but inside it was warm. I have been to Europe before, and that was great considering money. A typical European hotel/hostel (old building, no frills, no lift, simple rooms with furniture dated but funcional, no luxury), but this one was espacious + clean, which are not common for cheap hotels/hostels in Europe. Really enjoyed my stay. Would recommend to friends and would stay there again. Simple no frills kinda place, so would not recommend to people who wants luxury or romance.

Really nice location, fancy area, the room were in good shape and confortable beds, Clean, TV with lots of channels. The only tiny disapointment is the lift :) But for such nice old stylish buildings, you can't ask for more !! Highly recomended

it was cheap, clean accommodation in heart of Madrid. Is interesant old building - i liked it very much. Position between Puerta del Sol (20 minut walk distance) and Estadio San Bernabeu (20 minut walk distance, too). In the room there is noise from street, the pension is located on the street with lots of bars. For young people ideal accommodation. There is no lift, 4. floor.

A very well located place (walking distance from quite everywhere in the center, close to a metro station), clean and make you feel at home with the tiny kitchen (micro-wave oven, fridge ...) to have a warm tea or coffee for instance ;-) The hostess is very sweet and helpfull.

I was traveling solo, looking for a quiet place to sleep. Hostal Castilla worked well for that for the most part. Be sure to book online- I saved approximately 18 Euros per night that way. The rooms were clean enough, as were the bathrooms. That said, there was a general status of well-worn- the mattress was sagging from age/use, the shower no longer had a place to hang the sprayer, etc. The owner/staff kept an extremely low profile- I saw her only when I checked in and checked out. It was unusual to run into any other guests. In that regard, it's a very quiet hostel. Be forewarned, however- the hostel itself is quiet, but the club across the street is not! They played loud (bad) music til early in the morning and you don't have air conditioning in your room, so you got to choose between the noise or the heat. Also, a word of warning to those of us who do count all the floors, it's technically on the 4th floor and those stairs are exhausting after a long day and they're plain old treacherous when you can't find a light switch in the dark. All in all, it's a good value for the money so long as you're not looking for luxury lodgings or an overly social experience. It's conveniently located within walking distance of multiple metro stations and many tourist destinations.
