Hostal Ballesta - Madrid

Very nousy, next door was a club that had loud music till 4am most days!!! Also, corridors are noisy as the sound travels easily and there sounded like a washing machine in a cupboard next to our door! Good location, cheap, clean but noisy.

The hotel is really good value for money. Madrid's main street is within walking distance; there are 2 tube stations each one at about 3 mins walk from it and rooms are clean and spacious. Not the best surrounding ever, but not annoying at all. Worth noticing: the area is very safe, police is always around. Enjoy!

I stayed for one night en route to another part of Spain, and one night again on the way back, in May 2010 and was impressed. Great value; clean, comfortable and very central with three free computers in reception and free printing - so you can print your boarding pass. Within walking distance of most places a tourist would want to visit; plenty of hot water; under floor heating; free safe deposit box. Ok so it is in the red light district, but even as a single woman I felt completely safe. I recommend the Hostal Ballesta and will definitely book again for my next visit to Madrid.

The hotel is in the centre of madrid, on the back of gran via. the employees are friendly and the rooms clean. there is no air conditioning. there is a snak distributor and wi-fi connection. a defect is that the street of the hotel it's a secondary street, where there are night ladies..

This hotel is located in THE street of Madrid where work the public women... Also, the girl working during the night thinks that this is a good idea to talk the whole night in the corridor in the spanish way (=shouting)... Furthermore, it was written "closed to the Sol station" but the hotel is clearly closer to Callao.

Allthough the hotel was very clean an the price for the room was o.k., we were really disdurbed by the noise of the street in this red-light-district and the noise coming from the other rooms caused by prostitutes and their customers during the night.
