Hostal Avenida - Madrid

Good small hotel. The Staff is very nice. Fair rates.

Front desk not always staffed, and when it is, sometimes there can be language difficulties. but really nice people, clean but small rooms, great location. I liked it. A great bargain.

The location is perfect, the room was clean, although after 23:00 there's not a receptionist so you must ask a security gurd to open the gate and then he'll take you your room.

Marisol made us feel comfortable. It's a clean & safe hostal in a great location. They will store items that need refridgeration in their kitchen. Wish it had a common kitchen/eating area. Not noisy as some people claimed. The floors will squeak in some areas, but not a bid deal. We would stay here again.

The staff were very friendly and very helpful especially one of the night staff when we arrived; however, they spoke no English and we only got by because we had an electronic translator. The room was average but the stay at this hotel let us down very badly as there seemed no soundproofing. We were woken up by people coming in late and also what seemed to be furniture being moved in the hostel above us. although the staff were lovely , I would not retyrn here as it was just too noisy- not from The Grand Via outside but from the noise within especially above us.

Hostal Avenida was very convenient so near to the main areas of Madrid, excellent infact. The Avenida was lovely and clean. We would recommend it to anyone. Took a little to get there from the airport (3 metros) but this was easy and it was worth it being so central we could then walk everywhere else.

Hotel is in a great location. Rooms are compact but very clean and do the job. Great security. Downside is that they are noisy.

The manageress was exceptionally helpful and kind. She would search any questions we had on the internet and come up with the answers, such as english spoken films (VO=version originale), locations of shops, opening times of musea and general directions. There are bars with breakfast nearby (one really nice hotel and notably a MacDonalds where the sofas offered a relaxing start of the day with coffee and muffins)and we could easily walk to all our musea and the park. The district with all the tapas bars was also very close, so very convenient for the evenings. No need for any public transport. Rooms small but clean and tidy.

Some problems with wi-fi... bt they solve it out

Neat, clean and safe.Recently renovated. Clean bathroom with brand new tiles and equipment. As it is in one of the busiest streets of Madrid, it is quite noisy and the walls are not too thick. After walking the whole day in the city this should not be a problem, though. Earplugs are also a good solution. Nevertheless, it is quite cheap and in the very center of Madrid. If you are there to see the town at a reasonable price, it is a great choice. The staff are very nice and helpful, but do not speak very much English. It is time to brush up your Spanish. Minimal tourist language skills will do.

It would be difficult to beat the location of Hostal Avenida, but there is no shortage of hostals in the area around Gran Via. Hostal staff was friendly and the room was clean. My particular room was dark and quiet, which was OK by me after sampling the Madrid nightlife.

Fantastic hostal! It would have been good if there was a coffee machine, or access to coffee in the hostal. Though soundproof to traffic outside, the noise from cleaning was quite loud at times in the morning, however, this is so in many places. Overall, it was a lovely place and we would go there again.
