Small room, especially bathroom...not sure if the scaffolding was set up for future renos to occur or if it was to hold the building up...watch all your belongings or they might go missing from the room

hostal is old, building is under construction so there are scafholding everywhere, beds are super uncomfortable and very noisy, very old and worn out furniture, bathroom door couldnt close, very noisy rooms partly due to the fact that the windows are old and loose. no kitchen to use, keys needed to be left at the "reception", if you want to use safe in the room, which by the way was super small, you have to put 1 euro each time...and above all no wireless in the room, you can use it only in common room.. we wouldnt recomment this hostel to anybody, really ugly place.

Greeted with long term scaffolding holding up all floors, Couldn't come and go without asking for the doors to be opened.wi fi would not work in rooms .furniture in lobby dirty and smelly, owner slept on at night. generally hotel not in good condition.brown paper stuck on walls, paint coming off. Smelt of musk on all floors. Plastic flowers every where..this is a low grade hotel in good location. Stayed 3 days but wouldn't go back. Plenty of other hotels and hostels close by.

Very cheap hotel but very well located. If you want to stay few nights in the Madrid center and save money is the right choice. Rooms are small, and bathrooms too.

Good hotel, ideal for short stay. Very close to the main sights. Friendly prices. Don't forget to bring earplugs, because the streets are noisy..

the walls were so thin that I was awakened by snoring nearby. a restaurant in the courtyard below kept me awake with the noise of dishes being handled. the welcome was very good, the people very nice and helpful despite not speaking english or french. i liked the room and didn't mind it being small except for the noise. the blankets could have been cleaner, but the rest was fine. I was satisfied overall and the neighborhood was very convenient.

I would recommend Almanzor to anyone. I am a fifty-something professional, who needed last minute accommodations in Madrid and this place is perfect. While the comon space is small, it is welcoming, there is free wifi, and the staff could not be more accommodating. Walls are a little thin, but noise level inside is minimal. The street is noisy from time to time, but that´s the price of the wonderful, central location. One of the cleanest, best cared for places I have ever seen. Has an elevator for luggage, etc. Stay here.

Quiet, central, cheap. Maybe the only caveat is that walls between rooms are not very well acousticly insulated, but I had a really quiet night.

the room is nice and quiet, but if u go to Madrid in summer, this hotel is not the best choice, because there is no air conditioner in the room, only have a fan, a noisy fan!

This Hostal is really close to main attractions if you like to walk, it's also close to Metro station. I don't like the system of ring the bell in order to enter (you have to say your name or room number);neither to left the key when you go out or pick it when you get in, but it's not a big issue if you think that the price and the location are excellent.

I enjoyed our time here, and the location was great, but our room was incredibly noisy, and did not have wifi access as advertised (we were in the far back of the hotel.) Additionally, our ceiling fan was so noisy we could not use it, despite the fact that we couldn't open the windows because it was so noisy outside.

A nice 19th. century building, with original tiles & wooden stairs. Centric. Needs noise isolation between rooms, but this is quite imposible in this ancient buildings so, ..get a glimpse of the noisy & funny Madrid, always an experience!

This hostel is good, I recommend it. Very near to the heart of the city, with lots of places to eat and hang out at night just in front of it! Rooms are good for the price paid, although not so quiet maybe because of night parties taking place in the streets of the center just under the hotel's windows.

this is our experience: two nights weekend stay beginning december 2008, two double rooms, two couples. You get what you pay for the fair price: a cheap Hostal, perfecly located in the centre, some "movida" noise at night, clean but small and (one out of two) oldish rooms (ask clearly for non-smokers rooms, smokers ones are pretty smelly), almost no public areas. Hosts are simple but welcoming. Would advise this place to friends/couples just looking for a convenient, centrally located, very basic Hostal. This place will definately not impress your new fiancé... One last advice: unless in peak season, you can easily find many hostals in the area without booking, similar price/quality.
