The room we stayed in at Hostal Girona was large and very clean. The shared bathroom was also large and all kept very clean. The Hostal was quiet, apart from the odd noisy pipe, and the decor very attractive. We found it easy to get to points of interest in Barcelona. Unfortunately the owners/reception were so unfriendly I would not recommend this hostal for any non Spanish speaking guests. While we tried to use our limited Spanish this was not appreciated and after being shown our rooms we were told reception was not available. We stayed elsewhere later in our trip.

We had a great time in Barcelona and your B&B accommodation helped greatly to make the stay the success it was. The rooms were clean (and cleaned daily), comfortable and within easy walking distance of Barcelona's main plaza (Catalunya). I will definately recommend your accommodation to my friends...

The Hostal is a little bit difficult to find, because of the really small sign in front of the door. The rooms are all in the second floor and were clean. The bath was a little bit small and there was no possiblity to place the soap or anything else. One of the great advantages seems to be the walking distance to placa catalunya which is only a ten minutes walk away.

It is noisy from sewage. Probably pipes in a wall. But it did not stir. We flied up to Barcelona 10 hours. When have arrived to hotel, we had to wait for 10 minutes while the mistress will have a good long talk by phone. It at once has created negative opinion. However the mistress has apologized. When us have got in our double room, we were in horror. It was a small closet. Next day we have asked to replace to us number. The owner was very affable and delicate and has made everything to move us in good number. Despite of these troubles, we again shall stop in it hostel. In it there are very good rooms with balconies.

Nice central location but down a quieter street. Fantastic value for central Barcelona. Fully functional room with lovely public areas. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and would recommend to friends.

I'm so glad I picked the Hostal Girona. Once you acclimate to the metro - the Urquinona station is close to the hotel. From the airport I took the bus to Placa Catalunya (the last stop)& enjoyed the walk. I kept asking people along the way for their help. Everyone is so friendly in this great city. I felt safe. There are grocery stores & places to eat within walking distance. The hostal was in a quiet location. When you 1st arrive look for the flags for the school - the hostal shares the building with a school. For an active walker or person in good physical condition - it is delightful to walk through the neighborhoods - Las Ramblas & the Cathedral. The information station is at Placa Cataluyna underground (look for the red "I") & can help with anything you need. This hotel was a true delight !!

The single room I booked did not have air conditioning. It was very hot. Fortunately they were able to upgrade me to a larger room that did...and I enjoyed my brief stay there.

The Hostal Girona would be best suited to the 'careful' guest. There is a very beautiful old antique lift, which needs careful and considerate handling. the hostal is a family home and has beautiful ornaments and furniture in its public areas, which wouldnt suit wrecklessness/drunkenness or disrespect. our first time to stay there and would definitely recommend it. there are some rooms with large balcony which are very quiet - excellent for the light sleeper. T.V. and air conditioning were in very good working order also.

We had a very very noisy room. Our window was facing the hallway, so no fresh air and very noisy. Hotel is in a large building with other businesses on ground floor. Very clean rooms and modern but noisy waste water system. If our room can be avoided then all will be better. Great location.

I was very impressed with this hotel, probably because I thought it would be more like a hostel, but was impressed to find better quality. My husband and I visited this past June, and stayed for a few days. We were in the room directly off the lobby area, so it was slightly noisy one night, but nothing I couldn't sleep through. While the room was small, it was perfectly comfortable for the two of us. The water was hot, the room was cleaned every day, and the staff were friendly. I think the only complaint I would have are the directions from the airport, as they are vague. We ended up wandering around for way too long in the heat trying to find this place. I would recommend looking them up on google maps before you go, as it wasn't as straight forward as they appeared.

Cristina was very nice, we arrived with a 3 hrs delay at about midnight and she waited for us. The room is nice and very clean. The bathroom is very small and quite noisy but clean as well. The area is really strategic: 3 min walk from Pl. Catalunya. Good price/quality, simple and essential

nice rooms and ambience. the only drawback were the pipes of the wastewater system - when someone in the neighbouring room washed himself, the wastewater was quite loud. but it was ok as we were not disturbed in our sleep.

Bellissimo. La doppia matrimoniale con bango condiviso ha dentro la camera una doccia e il lavandino, molto comodo. Posizione centralissima, economico e pulito. Caldamente consigliato!

The hotel was very near to the town center. You could walk or take the metro. The staff was very welcoming and kind. They let us leave our baggages in the hotel before the check in and after the check out. They also gave us some informations about the city transports.

Excellent location and perfect service for that price. Very nice and well-doing people. I'll recommend this hostal to every friend of mine that goes in Barcelona. There is everything that the real traveller on budget is looking for. Many thanks to the people who are taking care of visitors.

I have stayed this hotel in April 2008. On their website, it looked and sounded just the sort of budget hotel I was looking for. A hotel with old charactor. But the furnitures in the room were all made with plywood, and just pretending to look antique. The room size was ok. Outside of the window was a tiny square space and all I could see was 3 walls and some airconditioning boxes. You have to stick your head out and look right up to see a small square of sky. Felt like being in a prizon without bars. Shower cubicle was small. As I arrived I noticed the water in the toilet was dark brown. It went clear after I flashed, so I thought they didn't clean it properly. But next morning it was dark brown again. The dirty water must come from neighbouring room or flats. As I was just falling asleep after midnight, I was suddenly woken up by thundering noise of gushing water coming from above. It was so lond that I wondered if the water would come through the ceiling! I turned the light on to see what it was. I could see a pipe coming down the ceiling along the wall and towards my bathroom area. This happed several more times before finally gone quiet. But then it started all over again in the morning. Oh, and also a person lives upstaires wearing shoes with heels started using washing machine at 6AM. It appeared to be coming from toilet upstairs. Clearly, the sewage system in the building seems to be connected to each other. I could also see some cardboard boxes thrown on top of a space above bathroom area. The room was more like a storage room and should not be used as a guest room. Early next morning I picked a hotel from my guide book and phoned to book. I told the lady (appeared to be the owner) that the noise of drainage was unbearable so I wished to leave. She blamed the guest staying in the room next to me! She then said she was going to move me to the room in the main building which would be quieter. Why didn't she do so in the first place? She must have been aware

The Hotel was beautifull and a very nice and well looking old hotel. the only problem we had is we missing covers in the night. it was too cold without covers and so it was a little bit freezing in the night. In the second night we ask for covers and get some. So everything was all right ;-)

Very good location, near Plaza Catalunya, and great room. The employees were nice but not very helpful when asking about touristic information, laundry service, etc. The only problem is that the shower is very small.

Overall it was a very nice stay in this Hostel. The room is very clean. I’m really like the building and it located in the quite area of the town. The map on the website doesn't help much and it will take about 10 min to walk from Placa Catalunya.

Staff was not welcoming at all, room was tiny and had nothing to do with the picture in web. Price was high, considering the quality. Pipes were noisy and you could hear all the movements from the hallway. Bad service overall!

The room was very good, however the bathroom was quite small and difficult to manouver in, e.g. when getting out of the shower. The location is advertised as close to barrio gothic, however, it's quite a walk away, and you're better off taking the metro. Catalunya square isn't exactly very close, it's about 15 minutes walk, which if you've walked all day, may be quite tiresome. Not that many restaurants nearby and you'll be quite reliant on the metro to go out at night.

I was very pleased with my stay in this hostel. It was clean, well situated and charming. The hostel is located on the first floor in a big old house downtown Barcelona (only 7 minutes away on foot from Plaça Catalunya).

The venue is excellent. Staff were helpful when requested. My room (no 1) was right by the staff area and it was a bit noisy late at night. However, for the price this was an excellent stay. Rooms were cleaned each day. Everything was done as it should be. Recommended.

Wonderful stay in that hostal. You can easily reach every point of the city from there, by underground as well as on foot, since it's very close to placa de catalunya, la rambla, el palau de la musica, casa battlò and all the marvellous modernists' architectures. The building is a good example of early twentieth century architcture (art nouveau) as well as a few buildings of the eixample. Rooms are not so special, but clean. I recommend Hostal Girona.
