We stayed in a family room, 3 adults and a baby. It was great as the cot was all set up and there was a lot of room for everyone. You couldn't get better location and the restaurant downstairs has beautiful food and the best sangria I have ever had. I would definently stay here again if I ever go back to Madrid. The only downside is that the breakfast is very ordinary, bread is stale and the bacon and eggs cold and the bacon is not that nice... However we persevered with it as it was an easy option before heading off. Also a kettle in the room so you can make your own cups of tea or coffee in the room would be excellent (instead of going to the lobby)- especially when you have bottles to make for a baby.

Positive points: - Knowledgeable and multilingual staff - Great breakfast with good hours - Central location Negative points: - Bedding was lacking - no duvet provided (just an old blanket) - Walls are thin and you can hear vacuuming, showers, and everything else going on in other rooms and in the hall. - Sewage smell in the bathroom - internet in room did not work

The hotel was in an excellent location and exceeded my expectations. The security is good and so is the service. A restaurant and sidewalk cafe right outside the door was an asset. I will stay there again if I return to Madrid.

New place to stay. central position in town. Small nice place in front of the hotel. No car noises. Wireless available in addition of a computer available in the room. Discounted rate for the breakfast proposed at check-in (7,5 €). Small breakfast room (no table available for a short time one morning).

I really liked this hotel, especially because the central location, close to everything, and the good price/quality ratio. Some of the 3 people bedrooms on the last floor are very nice, quite spacious and they even have a jacuzzi. If you're unlucky though you may find yourself in a room on the other side, smaller and with the window over the kitchen's restaurant and you are not going to open it... Make sure you get the right side. One last thing: if you don't travel alone and you're shy you may find the bathrooms wall a little embarassing

The hotel is really in the central zone, even if located in proximity of the red light zone. No private parking available, but 20% disount for public parking nearby (one day 30 Euro!!!).

1. On Venere.com it says that, Check-in: the rooms are available at any time after 9 a.m. and we booked specifically this hotel because apart from being central we were arriving to Madrid early and wanted to settle in before going to explore the city since we were only in Madrid for a day. We showed the receptionist the printout from Venere but they couldn't check us in since the rooms were full. The only thing they offered was to keep our luggages at the reception and told me to inform Venere.com that this detail is incorrect. That was acceptable but still we were disappointed because we chose this hotel specifically for the check in time. 2. We booked a quad and they only put towels for 2, but when we called the reception they were quick to send the 2 other towels. 3. Laptop in room with internet was excellent!

the hotel was nice an the rooms spacious but the air condition was not adequate and we were uncomfortable during the day. The staff were very helpful but this was a management problem and not within their scope. Location and quietness was very good though. The room seemed a bit musty and I was sneezing and coughing maybe because of dust?

Hotel Petit Palace Plaza del Carmen was better than I would have imagined. We reserved a family room, but decided to go with 2 double rooms instead. The hotel gave us the same price for the 2 smaller rooms as for the 1 larger one. This was a real find in a central Madrid location. We loved the laptops in the rooms, the modern bathrooms, flat screen TVs and free bicycles. The location was outstanding. Caveat, the club in the plaza should move anyone wishing for a quiet weekend to ask for an interior room. But if you're going to be out for the Madrid nightlife, get one of the plaza rooms and enjoy the outside view during the day. This is THE place to stay in central Madrid.

Tiny room, the beds were extremely firm. Streetparties just outside the hotel every night, keept it going until 7 in the morning. The hotel surroundings are not the best, but central to most tourist attractions. Plaza Carmen which could have been a nice plaza, is occupied with barracks.

excellent location in the center of the city at a nice and quiet 'plaza', very near to the 'Gran Via'and Metrostation (1 min.): it can't be better! There is so much to see in Madrid. We can surely recommend this 'design hotel'. You get a lot for your money. The relationship between price/quality is good! The staff is nice too. My husband, son (17y) and I are very satified.

We were two adults and two teenagers staying in a familyroom at 1. floor, and it was like staying in a dark box. No daylight. And not too much space. Still we would recommend the hotel to other travellers: The bathroom was modern and spacious. There was a PC with internetconnection in the room. And when we stepped outside the hotel, we were in the middle of everything!

Actually hard to write a review on the particular named hotel as were moved from there to Petit Palace Londres, so have entered review for that hotel. We had complmentary breakfasts as compensation and the room was fine-except that I had particularly booked Plaza del Carmen and mentioned also that as 3 women travelling, we required 3 beds. The room we were given only had 2 beds. As it happened 1 member of our party was unable to travel so that wasn't fortunately a problem-though obviously could have been. Hence lower marks as regards 'correspondence between web pages and actual property'!!

First time at this hotel. Probably not the last. Three perfect things about the hotel: location, location and location. Welcomming employees. Very cool two floor room. Old wooden beams in the cieling, combined with relatively modern architecture. Some greasy smell from the kitchen, and noice from the vents. But hey, we enjoyed our stay very much. When you are in Madrid, you don´t sit around in your hotel room anyway. You pour yourself a nice sangria at on of the local tapas bars, and watch the people pass by. :o)

We stayed in a room for 3 persons (mother with two youths). The room was nicely decorated with a spacious bathroom. The only thing I did not like was the sloping ceiling, into which I banged my head. The girls enjoyed very much to have access to the free internet( desktop in the room!), after three weeks away from their friends! The location in the city was perfect, both for shopping, sight-seeing and for enjoying the nigt life around Puerta de Sol, and still it was very quiet and no problem to have a good sleep. We recommend this hotel!

We stayed in a family room that was not quite as advertised. There were four single beds in a pretty small room. The problem was the ceiling, which sloped down at such a steep angle that it was difficult to stand upright. The bathroom, though, was large and modern, with a great shower.... the hotel was in a wonderful, central location, which made it possible to walk almost everywhere...the laptop computer in hte room (with free internet) was a nice touch... the staff was very helpful and welcoming... we would defintitely stay here again...

Great hotel, and a great location. The room was basically the same as seen on venere. Very new and modern hotel. The room was a little small but the size and the look of the bathroom made up for it. Very modern and nice in-room bathroom. The service was nice and freindly. The room was always clean. Great in-room ac never a moment where we felt uncomfortable. It wasn't very quiet you could hear activity in the hallway and doors slamming shut. Breakfast was not included and was at an extra charge. But if your out all night like the natives you wont wake up early enough for breakfast anyways. 24 hour computer access in the lobby. We would recommend this hotel highly!

The room was almost perfect! The furniture was good and modern, the bathroom was amazing and everything was very stylish. It had a plasma tv and free internet in the lobby. The only drawback was that there was a light turned on at night just on top of the window, which made it hard to sleep. But, I think that my room was one of the few with this problem. The location is very good, close to the metro and to Gran Via. If you dont want to spend a lot of money, near the area north of the Retiro Parque, this is the best place and location to stay in Madrid.

The bathtroom is really over the hotel range! Great high tech shower, very comfortable bed. Free ADSL in each room and two Pc in the lounge. Nice breakfast with large opening time. The location is where you have to be visiting Madrid. We stay very well even if during the night there was a little bit of noise (people talking in the street, city cleaning trucks...but you stay in downtown!). The last suggestion: be aware of pickpockets!

I booked the hotel based on the picture. The picture was of a brick wall with an ornately carved Spanish door. Imagine my surprise when I walked into a "high tech" hotel. The young lady at reception was more interested in talking to her friends on the phone so we did not get a proper orientation to the room and it took us 5 minutes to figure out how to turn on the lights (too high tech for us I guess). The breakfast was good and we enjoyed that every morning in a room with a bit more spanish atmosphere. There was construction going on in the building and the sound of the jackhammers going all day was less than relaxing. The next street over was the area where the "ladies of the evening" plied their trade. As adults it was interesting to us but I wouldn't walk that street with children. I asked a police officer if prostitution is legal and he told me it is not legal nor is it illegal, it is in a gray area. The location of the hotel is good. You can get to most of the sights just by walking. It was not the best experience I have ever had in a hotel but how much time is actually spent in a hotel when you are on vacation? Would I stay here again? Probably not. There are many other hotels in the same area I have much to choose from the next time visit.
