Even though there were quite a few problems, it's not easy to find a reasonable hotel that is reasonably priced in such a good location in New York City. In the end, even taking all the problems into account, the value for money is pretty good. So for the good part, the hotel is located just a few steps from a subway station that includes 7 different trains and one block away from 34th street that is a very active area with lots of shopping and eateries. The prices were reasonable related to other hotels in the area, and the service was kind, though it wasn't the most efficient... Room was bigger than I expected and had a bath tub. I'd rate the comfort of the bad 3-4 out of five. It was OK. The room was clean when I got there, but staying there 3 nights, the cleaning service was not that good during my stay. So for the bad part, I'd start with the fact that it seemed the cleaning staff tried to come when I was in the room on purpose, I spent the whole morning out, coming back around 2, and they always wanted to clean the room just minutes after I came back to the room. Then when I told them to come back a bit later, they said they were leaving soon, so one time I even told them not to clean the room. In the other times, they didn't clean very well, with my garbage bin overflowing (I actually had to throw things next to it) they hadn't emptied it even once in the 3 nights I spent there. The shower & bath were not bad, with average water pressure, but one time when I wanted to take a shower there were no hot water, but this was a single occasion and later that night I could take a hot shower. Still, it was a bit uncomfortable that I couldn't take one whenever I pleased. There were a few more small problems, but the last one that is noteworthy is the fact that waiting for the elevators going down can get ridiculously long.
