Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago Downtown - Chicago

This is the sort of hotel you need to arrive at after a 22 hour transit (door to door). I guess pre-booking the suite helped but the desk staff had us checked-in and up to our room in no time at all (which we needed). Over the next few days we experienced the same level of assistance from the front desk, irrespective of the matter we needed help with. We also need to acknowledge the friendliness of all staff that we had any contact with. Chicago is a fantastic city and this hotel is perfectly located to make the most of the experience. Its location, on the corner of Illinois and Dearborn Streets, is perfectly positioned in walking distance to the Golden Mile in Michigan Street, to Navy Pier and to Loop (to the south). It is around the corner from Buddy Guy's Blues Club and also just a short taxi ride from the Apollo Theatre (home of the MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, a must see show). If, by the grace of God, we get the opportunity to get back to Chicago we will certainly stay at this hotel again.

Good location, near to the 'L' stations. Very spacious room, just what we needed for 'living' in a hotel for 6 nights. We had a very comfortable stay. All staff very friendly. By USA standards the breakfasts were good although, and this is not a comment about this hotel in particular, the ubiquitous use of disposal plates, cups and cutlery is unpleasant in the extreme. By UK standards the breakfast experience would be graded as just passable. We just wouldn't do this in the UK thank goodness. Gives any hotel stay a cheap feel. We would recommend any newcomer to Chicago to use the Architectural Foundation tours. We started off with their river boat tour, which was excellent and helped us get our bearings.
