It was our fist stay in Sancerre. Hotel at 20 km from city center. Staying in an old castle is an experience. Bathroom is too small for two persons. No minibar, no airco.

We had a warm welcome; a friend of the owner set out tableware on a terrace overlooking the pasture and creek with fresh tomatoes and basil to go with our bread, wine and cheese. It was perhaps the most memorable experience of our 2-week trip through the Loire valley. Our room was lovely, beautifully decorated, also overlooking the pasture. The dining room,where we ate breakfast, displayed old tapestries.

A beautiful place, even if it is a "work in progress". Small problem was they were not expecting us. But once that was solved, it was extremely pleasant.

This was a short weekend break to buy wine from the region. We could not beleive how wonderful the Chateau was and how relaxing and quiet. We were looked after very well and plan to return next year for a much longer stay at the chateau. It made the weekend perfect for us.

From Paris, take the A6 motorway towards Lyon, exit at Dordive, then continue on the A77 motorway, and exit at Briare. Follow the direction of Chatillon sur Loire, then Mery-es-bois, Jars, le Noyer and Sens-Beaujeu.
