Hotel Golden Tulip Galilei - Pisa

Nice hotel with nice staff and nice rooms. Nothing to complain, except the location. This is a conference hotel, not for turists. It is possiple to walk to the centre, but big roads makes it really dangerous and the distance is 4-5 km. But if you have money to use taxies every day, then it's not a problem. Taxi to the hotel from the railway station costs about 10 euros. Good place for a traveller whos flight leaves from Pisa. They have free airport shuttle service.

This is a great place to stay if you are just doing n overnight trip in Pisa as it is close to the airport. The Hotel is secluded from the main city but for a one night stay we ate at the restaurant. The only disappointment is that we had to pay for the taxi when the main reason we booked this place for their shuttle bus to the airport. Apart from that it is a great place to stay.

Room was small but good, staff good, breakfast OK and shuttle to airport was great. Only real but significant problem was the air conditioning didn't work and staff refused to address the issue. My experience is that Italians keep costs down by setting the AC where they want it, not where you want it. The desk had control of the AC and all the begging in the world didn't help. Probably won't stay there again.

Used hotel as stop over during return drive from Naples to UK - easy to find, plenty of parking but also secure underground car park with lift access at 10 euro - worth it. Reception staff good english. Plenty of facilities such as web access and gym but did not use. Breakfast (buffet) was the best in terms of room, variety of food available and constant replenishment of food that we experienced on 14 day trip, staying at 7 hotels in total and was included in price. would use this as a base for short stay in Pisa - proximity to beachand attractions if car available. Not too far from Pisa attractions by car.

Recommend you arrange with hotel for airport shuttle pick up prior to arrival. check in time only after 2PM, but ok to leave luggage at hotel in the meantime. excellent breakfast buffet. In an ok area, not much to walk to. But free shuttles to city sites thru out day. Gabriel was extremely helpful with train info, etc.

Not easy to find, GPS not aware of the right location. Rooms were very cold (too much air conditioning) and carpets over aged... Good restaurant (BBQ) in the terasse, even if view on the main street not very exciting.

Stayed only one night, arrived late from the airport. Can not judge the hotel as I haven`t seen much of it.

Great location for an overnight stay in Pisa. The hotel provides free shuttle service to and fro the airport and Pisa tower.

Good quality hotel. We were staying just one night and had an early departure at about 5am. The hotel had a list of other early departees but the promised pastries breakfast at 4:30 was insufficient for the number of guests leaving at that time. Taxis were booked but none seemed to know who they were intended for so there was a bit of a scramble.

Althought close to the airport it is not an easy place to get too unless you have a GPS or use the Hotels shuttle service. We walked from the Hotel into Pisa. It was an easy enough walk however I didn't always feel safe walking on some parts of the road, however this is perhaps no different to any other part of Italy as the roads are narrow and there are not always footpaths. My impression of the hotel from the web site was that it was new however on arrival I felt it was looking a little tired and worn in places. It was an OK place to stay and I considered it reasonable value for money. The staff I interacted with were helpful and the breakfast was good.

We only stayed for one night, as it was a stop over for us. It is very clean and very good value. Only complaint is that the shuttle bus did not pick us up from the airport, had to take taxis as we were a group of 19. Otherwise, breakfast and all was great.

Really good hotel but if you do not speak italian it's quite difficult to be understand as only the front desk staff is speaking en english

This has to be the best hotel I've stayed at in Italy (and I've stayed at plenty!) for quality and value. The free shuttle to and from the Leaning Tower was an unexpected bonus. Can't recommend this one highly enough.

Absolutly ok

We stayed 2 nights End of September 09 at this hotel and had a warm welcome at 1 am (due to a flight delay), a big comfortable room and a very big breakfast buffet included in the very fair hotel price! The only "bad" thing is the connection to downtown because you depend on the hotel shuttle bus (running at diff. times, at 2 Euro per person/drive) or an own car. A taxi from the airport costs 6-8 Euro. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we'll come back to this modern, quiet and clean hotel.

This is an absolutely excellent stopover for a late or early flight and delivered all that was required. The inclusive breakfast was the best we have had anywhere in Italy and the room was fantastic at 62 euros. Despite the workaday location, we could have had an excellent holiday just staying at the airport and doing day trips! We had mislaid a case key en route and the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. I could not recommend this hotel more highly.

Perfect location for those having a car. Not suitable for those without a car. Would surely return in future.

Très bon accueil pour cet hôtel 4 étoiles. Nuit calme et confortable. Une partie du personnel parle Français/Anglais... Restaurant au sein de l'hôtel ouvert jusqu'à 22h (40€ pour 2 personnes 2 plats - 2 desserts - 1 bouteille de vin, couverts compris). Petit déjeuner varié et copieux. Navette pour se rendre en ville 2€/pers. Nous recommandons cet hôtel.

Hotel clean and staff friendly, but surroundings mean car or taxis, which are not expensive. Also excellent service by staff calling taxies quickly. Great location for airport but not good for town center. Dinner in evening simple, good and not expensive.

Yes the 1st time. We´ve asked for a triple room but in fact they gave us a double with extra bed and there was almost no space to go around.

Rooms were not clean and smelt terribly of smoke. Dinner "buffet" was awful and expensive. Reception very condescending and not efficient. Stayed at seven 4-star hotels during our trip and this was not even in the ball park of the others.

Exactly what I was expecting - an affordable transiting 1-night stay. The pleasant surprise was how close it was to downtown Pisa (5 minute drive).

Near to airport hotel. Room was very clean. Would recommed going to dining room for breakfast - we had room service, breakfast was brought by a pleasant and friendly staff member - but food was cold on arrival.

Struttura bellissima, personale molto cortese, servizio navetta ottimo, colazione ricchissima(dalle torte, alla frutta, ai salumi, ai più classici cornetti). Se non si è muniti di auto si arriva solo in Taxi(costo 8 euro dalla stazione o dall'aeroporto) o con la navetta(costo 2 euro per andare all'aeroporto,o alla stazione o piazza del Duomo)... ma conviene tantissimo!!

Very bad drainage smell on reception air cond. not working in room on first complain the staff at reception say he will swich it on 5 min later call back cose still not working got offered another room but not taken cose i hade checked in at 12:30 am and hade to be at airport at just 5 hours later and didnt want to take a chance to waste another half hour changing room to may be find the same problem !ist a shame cose the hotel room looked very clean and toilet very new !(may be 38 grade through the day made feel air cond. more importante )

A large, impersonal hotel which is OK for a one night stay prior to an early morning departure from Pisa Galilei Airport. Member of staff at desk when I checked out at 4.30 was "busy" doing something else and I had to wait. He couldn't manage even to say goodbye. Not impressed by attitude of hotel towards health and safety - wooden wedges holding open fire safety doors and alarm cord in shower tied up so high as to be useless if you actually needed it. Would look for somewhere else the next time.

A simply modern hotel.. cleaned, professional staffs, fairly breakfast, enough space of public and parking area. A bit difficult of access to city centre of Pisa, if you don't have car. However it's so close from pisa airport. I have been satisfied overall.

This is our 7th stay in just over two years, will return anytime!

Very slow check-in procedures! You should collect the documents and give the key, not keep th guests wait all the registration operations, the filling-in, photocopies, telephone conversations etc Housekeepers don't understand Italian properly and made up the room in spite of our asking to wait until the return from breakfast

The man at reception was the worst one seen for a long time. No hello, no eye contact with me while I was talking to him.

This is my 4th time staying in this Hotel and definitely is not my last! Shuttle service which is complimentary from Hotel to Airport and Pisa is well organised now with fixed timings and outside hours as well. Staff is also helpful from reception to waiting staff at Breakfast.

This hotel is very convenient-close to the Pisa airport and the rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable.

Could hear traffic all the time, windows closed but did not eliminate sound, only booked the hotel for one night only to ensure arrival at the airport 4:45am. Difficulty sleeping due to the noise. Alarm call provided at 4am. Unfortunately the price included breakfast but had to leave before this was served. Enquired about a "room only" price. This was not available. Taxi for the airport arranged by staff, prompt arrival.

We enjoyed this hotel after a long trip in Italy in not so nice hotels. We needed to catch a red eye to the Pisa Airport and it was only a $15.00 taxi ride and 5 mins and we were there. The free shuttle they offer does go earlier than 7am. We also enjoyed the add on of wi-fi in our rooms which had also been a real hassle throughout Italy. All in all if you need to have some modern amenities and a quick ride to the airport this is a great place for the price. If you want to stay more than two days forget it and go enjoy a place in town or by the beach.

We chose My Hotels Galilei because it was near to the airport. We were not at all satisfied with the room because it was too small. We ordered a three-bed room and there were hardly place for our suitcases. Even as a double room it would have been too small.

Room smelt of cigarettes despite requesting a non smoking room ! Check out was manned by one person in the morning so took far too long. Breakfast was good. Location was unattractive part of town.

Camere sotto la media per la sua categoria. Buona sistemazione per passare la notte prima di prendere l'aereo a Pisa, ance se forse in futuro cercherei un'altro albergo. Accoglienza freddina e non troppo cortese. Non sembra così nuovo come invece credo che sia: tenuto male.

So convenient for the airport, but quiet considering how close to main roads. Excellent bat, lounge facilities. Unbelievable value including 'mammoth' breakfast.

We checked in at about 11pm (My wife, 22 month baby and I). We were given a handicap room with a defective bathroom (shower drainage was very poor so after use, the whole bathroom was flooded extending to the carpeted area outside bathroom door). Spoke to the manager the next morning who admitted they were aware of the problems with my room but could not give me an explanation to why I was assigned that particular room even though they were not fully occupied. He promised to follow up with an explanation to my email. However, I am yet to hear from him.

This is a great hotel if you are just passing through. New and "modern" (you could be in a Marriot in Columbus OH) and reasonably priced. It is relatively close to the airport (you could try walking there, but don't - you'll get lost or die on the roadside - no sidewalks), but far (nothing is really "far", but it was a 14 Euro taxi ride) from town. Good breakfast, good internet access. A good place for the business traveler, not so great for the tourist because there is nothing to see or do in the immediate neighborhood of the hotel. We used it as a place to recover from a trans-Atlantic flight before taking the train elsewhere - worked great for that.

My Hotels Galilei offered us with spacious rooms that had a large tv that offered various channels. Breakfast had a lot of variety and was really good

Outstanding value for a modern hotel. Very close to the airport. Not for those looking for old world charm. This was the nicest room I have ever stayed in while traveling in Europe.

Nice clean big modern hotel. Good value. Away from the centre of things in Pisa but its proximity to the airport make it ideal for late flight arrivals, early departures or car hire (at airport). Although close to the airport, it's a little difficult to get to it because of highway intersections.

Staff really helpful. Restaurant rather 'clinical'. Breakfast was quite poor with very little cooked items available. Would have prefereed a bath rather than a shower but room very acceptable. Internet available in lobby. Good location for airport.Rather expensive for a one night stay.

We spent two nights in this hotel, both before and after our trip to Tuscany. This is a recent hotel with very spacious reception and seating area. Rooms are on the small side though. We booked a triple which is really only a double with extra bed. Clean and comfortable though. Reception staff are efficient but welcome is a bit cold. Self-service breakfast buffet was included and quite nice and plentiful.

My wife and I found the first stay in a Galilei Hotel adaquat to that of a rather boring business stay.No cosiness , no Gemütlichkeit, just businesslike, no feeling of "being something like home".Favourable was the short distance to the airport Pisa.

It would have been nice to have more hotel facilities. I was only there for 2 days but I could see myself getting bored if I stayed any longer. Its good if your just going to use it as a base to travel as the hotel shuttle was excellent. Only problem is the times as it stops at 7pm so you cant go out for dinner and the dinner in the hotel was far too expensive for basic food.

1. Room was 28 Celsius - and no a/c! Had to sleep with window open and we both woke up with numerous bug bites. 2. We booked solely because of proximity to Pisa airport. Map provived by front desk was TOTALLY unclear - and was contradicted by clerk, who was slighty more accurate than the map. Decided we better take a dry-run that night. Had we not, we would have missed our early morning flight!! 3. Although hotel purports to serve an int'l airport, instructions on phone are only in Italian (see next point) 4. The switch to turn off lights above TV is totally hidden. With unilingual phone instructions, couldn't reach front desk [dialing '0' didn't work]. Had to go down, in my pyjamas, to find out how to turn off lights!! Answer is that you have to blindly reach around and behind the TV to find it! 5. A terrible experience!

I hated to rate this hotel, it was so convenient. The clerk spoke perfect english, the hotel was wonderful (business hotel) and as close to the airport as you could ask for. Great internet, A/C worked great, good breakfast and wonderful staff. Now it's never available and the price is going up.

Two kinds of customers; Italian conference participants with very expensive ties, and people going to and from the airport. We wish they could run a shuttle service to the earliest planes in the morning also. The cafe on the hotel ground floor had excellent food and very reasonable prices!

The only difficulty was getting from the airport to the hotel as it is only accessible by taxi (which are in short supply!) and I wasn't aware of the shuttle bus service

The food in the restaurant was of a high standard but the service did not match it! People were leaving the restaurant half an hour after being seated as their order had not been taken. The waiters were wandering around the restaurant with plates of food, trying to work out what table they were meant to be serving.There was a slight improvement after 2100hrs when another 2 waiters appeared, but it was too little, too late. The hotel is in a very convenient location for Pisa airport but we will not return to stay there. Not a 4 star hotel!

I am very happy with my hotel Galilei.I travell with my wife and a 4 year old son.We all find everything very easy in pisa as the hotel provides us the shuttle service.The employees of hotel and perticularly shuttle driver is very nice.We will refer this hotel to all of our friends.

A great place to stay if you need to catch a flight the next day. Only 5 min from the airport with easy access. Rooms are great and staff as well

Excellent hotel for an early flight departure in the morning.It takes about 10 minutes by taxi to get to the main sites in Pisa.The meal we had in the restaurant was very good and probably better than finding somewhere in Pisa when stopping only for 1 short night.We left too early for breakfast so cannot comment on quality or staff etc. Would definately recommend anyone to stay here if only on a short visit.

The rooms were nice and clean, staff good at reception and multi lingual, It would have been nice to get tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. There was a mini bar, but it was expensive. The German girl in the restaurant was rude and with attitude at breakfast time. Otherwise very co-operative, we missed the shuttle at 6.30 am and they immediately put us on the next available one, which either went to the airport or the station in Pisa, very helpful.

Enjoyed our stay and we had an excellent meal in the restaurant, highly recommended

Muy bien situado para quien llegue tarde al aeropuerto y/o salga temprano. Tienen un eficaz servicio de lanzadera gratuito al aeropuerto y al centro de la ciudad. Nuestro avión llegó a las 23:10 y pudimos ir al hotel en 5 minutos sin necesidad de coger taxi. El hotel en general está muy bien, así como el desayuno, que estaba incluido sin nosotros esperarlo.

Perfecto si dispones de vehículo, aunque hay un transporte a la ciudad. El hotel es muy limpio y bien conservado, cerca aeropuerto. Recomendable, nosotros ibamos de paso, fue excelente.

Ottima soluzione per chi deve prendere un volo dall'aeroporto di Pisa, poichè è davvero vicino. Inoltre c'è una navetta per chi non avesse l'auto per raggiungere l'aeroporto. molto moderno e confortevole, e ha pure dei prezzi contenuti. raggiungere il centro di Pisa è abbastanza semplice (in auto)e ne vale la pena per chi non ha vmai visto Piazza dei Miracoli e la Torre!

Ideal as a stopover for Pisa Airport with shuttle service to and from. Not good situation for much else.

We needed a hotel in Pisa as we arrived late and were picking up our hire car from Pisa airport the next morning. This hotel was excellent. Rooms modern and clean, good breakfast, efficient service and, best of all, a shuttle bus that took us to the airport the next morning.If you need a stopover hotel in Pisa this is the one.

This hotel is very near the airport, it is not in an area that you allows you to walk to any other places eg restaurants. The restaurant at the hotel was not what I would expect in a 4 star hotel. We didn't eat there because the choice was so poor - 3 main dishes 2 of which were fish, at a fairly high price. Compared to all the other places we ate at in Italy this was a pathetic menu. If you are a traveler and want a place to stay this would do, but it would not be my choice as a place to stay if I was touring the area

Shuttle service from airport to hotel would have been nice. If you provide a shuttle it is nice if you can take it from the airport.

I required an overnight stopover near Pisa Airport and not too far from train station early the following morning. My Hotels Galilei met my requirements adequately. Taxi Fare from airport and to train station was less than 10 euro each destination. I requested a single room and was pleasantly surprised to be given a double at the same rate.

We considered the hotel to be excellent value for money and well suited to our needs although the location was not particularly attractive. We would definitely stay there again. Check in/out was quick and easy. Plenty of parking.

We stayed in a double room which had air con which we needed. The hotel exceeded our standard we where very pleased.

Originaly told the hotel was 100 metres from the airport but after going to the information desk found out it was 1 Km from the airport. The receptionist when we arrived was very curt and when asked the way to Pisa we were told to turn left outside the hotel. This was true but she omitted to tell us that it led on to a busy dangerous road through an industrial area.

This is a very new and modern hotel. It is very convenient for the airport - just 4-5 minutes away by car. Directions provided were easy to follow and accurate. It is also close to the city centre and the Leaning Tower. There is a shuttle bus for access to the centre, sights, airport & train station, but since I didn't use it or enquire about it I don't know the cost. The hotel is clean and comfortable with no noise from the airport or main road, which is adjacent. Breakfast is OK, but the dining area is a bit like a conference room.

UpSide: Clean efficient modern hotel very convenient to Pisa Airport. Very useful when travelling on business. Rooms clean, well equipped and comfortable. DownSide: Airport Shuttle finishes quite early. Restaurant useful but average quality (one meal only so may have been a poor night) and ambiance quite poor, an aircraft hanger with palm trees and relatively expensive. Verdict I would definately use this Hotel again as one uses any chain facility for the reliability of the product rather than any inherent charm.

Everything was great: the welcoming, the bedroom, the bathroom.. except for the departure. The night before we left, we asked for a way to get to the airport (the next morning), and they offered us a free minibus. They told us to make a reservation and so we did. The next day, the restaurant opened almost 15 minutes late (if you have to take a plane, that's quite a lot..) so we couldn't enjoy the break-FAST.. after that i went downstairs and tried to pay, but the man there was a little bit slow. he took 15 minutes more to attend to another man that was leaving that morning too. i tried to look at him with sad eyes, as if i tried to say: "please, we are going to miss the plane..!", then i told him i was in a hurry, but said that the minibus was waiting for us. We finally paid and went to the minibus, but it was full (why was the resevation for?). I went to the airport while my girlfriend had to stay at the hotel, waiting for the minibus to come back again. She finally got into the minibus and came to the airport at time! she met two girls at the minibus who told my girlfriend they had had the same problem with the man at the desk. Apart from this little experience, the man who attended us when we arrived was very nice and the bedroom where CLEAN & NEW. And you have a plasma or LCD screen in your bedroom. The bathroom clean and new too. Offering us the possibility to get to the airport by minibus was also great. Overall, quite good

It was a short but pleasant stay in the hôtel for me and my girlfriend. And I will not fail to recommend this hotel to my friends or my knowledge which will want to remain in Pisa.

We had a very early departure from Pisa Apt and this hotel offers a perfect location. Great Front Desk staff's orientation for both ck-in and ck-out time. Dinner menu and food quality not particulary outstanding ... they could do better

Excellent business hotel. If you're after a nice cosy hotel for holidays in the city center, this is probably not the one although it is great value for money.

The statement that this hotel is '100 meters' from the airport is inaccurate. It is approximately 1 km along a very busy limited-access highway to get to the terminal! In spite of the proximity of this hotel to the airport, it is impossible to get from the hotel to the airport on foot. There is a free shuttle during 'normal' hours, but I had to pay (not too much--4 Euro) for a ride to make a 6 AM flight. The airport is so close to the city center in Pisa that it is almost better to stay in town--from there one can walk to the airport. From this hotel, due to the layout of the highways, this isn't possible. A further note--the heat is controlled from the front desk, not from the thermostat in the room--if you want the heat turned down (it was set at 26 degrees!!), you have to call the front desk.

The hotel was excellent for an airport hotel but the location description was deceptive. Although it is not far from the airport the route is impossible on foot and taxis are a must to get anywhere unless you can sort out the courtesy bus. The hotel could improve this by linking the bus to flights more effectively.

The room was comfortable, clean, quiet and very reasonably priced, staff were friendly. we didn't think the breakfast was as good as mentioned by other guest reviews on this site, it was just a normal bland hotel breakfast...! best thing about this hotel was the views of the mountains from the staircase the next morning. overall its perfect for a one night stay if you arrive late as we did but don't think we would have stayed any longer...

We was in Pisa (by car) to meet some relates of my wife. The room and bathroom was good and the rate chip, the breckfast very rich and INCLUDED in the price, the parking FREE. We will choose again this hotel the next time. But note you NEED a car because the hotel is 3km far away from city center. Be carefull for extras (as internet connection, mini-bar,...) because they seem very expansive, so we did not use them.

Excellent hotel and very friendly staff. though this hotel appears to be in the middle of nowhere it is within easy reach and walking distance to pisa town centre, with a free car from the hotel should you require though i did not see this advertised, they also provide free transport to the airport which is approx 5 minutes away
