A good hotel in a convenient location just 5 minutes from Central Station and walking distance to most of the main attractions. I think the hotel was a little expensive but then again most capital city hotels are and particularly with the £ being so weak against the € at the moment. Staff were excellent and there was no problem storing baggage for us on both arrival and departure. Room was a little small although it was clean and modern. Mini bar items were extortionate as usual. On the whole I would recommend it as good base for exploring Amsterdam for a few days. The best value night restaurant we found in Amsterdam was next door - Humphreys. Reasonable food and wine with nice staff and a set menu better than most in Amsterdam a city not really noted for its cuisine.

Hi! we spent just one night in Golden Tulip Centre in Amsterdam before living for a cruise to the Norvegian Fjords and the Nord Cape. The hotel is close to the Central Station and it is very easy to get to the attractions- that's why we reserved the hotel. We had a nice, clean, quiet room on the third floor. It can be recommended for longer stay, too Peter-Budapest

I got a very unpleasant and rude welcoming with no understanding of my wishes and no service to help me out. Very very disappointing. I will never use this hotel again. Too bad such an international hotel employs such poor quality staff.

Clean, comfortable room & welcoming helpful staff. We were there in downtown Amsterdam on a holiday weekend, it was just wild outside so we were grateful that the hotel was an oasis of peace!! Lots of places to eat within walking distance & easy access to boat trips & trolleys to get to places arther away.

Good Quality and I would recommend staying here. The rooms are spacious and it is reasonably close to the train station. It is a large hotel and some of the rooms in the addition are a bit far away from the main entrance. To get to my room I had to take two different elevators.

When checked in, receptionists could not find my reservation and had to wait for about 15 min until they went to check the status at the website. Apparently, there is some problem in the communication between the systems.

Very good relationship price/quality. As i found on prevoious comments, they wanted my credit card, I didn't give it and they asked me to pay cash at once. We didn't have breakfast because too expensive; with 4 euros you can have a good breakfast nearby. The restaurant humprhy's was very good.

Stayed here Aug 21-23, 2008. Was quoted 135Euro per night for a "final cost to be charged of 180 Euro" (as it read on my Venere.com printout), but they added a tax of 12 Euros to my final bill. When I checked in, one receptionist said that it was a "tourist tax." When I checked out, the receptionist said that it was a "city tax." I even showed them my Venere printed receipt, but they insisted on charging it anyway. I booked 4 hotels with Venere during this trip, and this hotel was the only one that added more to the Venere.com quote. The rooms were clean, cozy, and secure. The interior hallways were somewhat drab and older, but only on the floors above the lobby. The hotel location is close enough to the city center and the train station that you can walk everywhere. Also, there is free computer/internet usage near the main lobby (2 computers). If you arrive at Amsterdam by train (from the airport or international rail), just follow these directions: Upon walking out the front door(s) of the station, you will have an option of crossing one of two very small bridges to get into the city. Go across the one on your right, follow that street until you get to a traffic light and city buildings. Continue straight on that street for about 500-700m and you will see the hotel on the left. You can't miss it if you stay on the correct street. A tram car drives up and down this street all the way to the train station.

Hello, I will try to be objective on that one. Minuses: -Nobody offered to bring our luggage to the rooms -The room happend to be situated in 1.2km walk-distance as we had to switch 2 different elevators to get to it, and the distance between them was quite long - not that i mind walking but not in the drunken nights. -There was cocaroach taking a walk everynight in the bathroom (which was mixed with the toilet). -An angry romanian(?) cleaning lady was given from us 20euros for the incovnience she had to clean a clogged drain after a drunk-incident finishing in a throw-up.Althought that she cleaned it herself and agreed she reported it to the front desk so we can be charged an extra 50euros for extra cleaning service. For a reward a 100eur perfume went missing + our room was ignored for cleaning the next 2 days by the room cleaning service. A Vertical window not able to be opened more than 10sm leaving the only air conditioning options to an ancient air vintilator which didnt even had remote control. No pay tv service available, only the hardware. The tv was set to so quite volume limit that we had to be dolphins to be able to hear something The canal system was not well set in the bathroom so in case some water goes out of the bathtub while u r showering (as there are no shower cabins) then u r doomed to walk in a water untill the next cleaning of the room (which as we were ignored for 2 days made us feel like we are in Venice with water everywhere). The whole hotel is looking old and not well mantained. Also i guess the darkness in the whole hotel combined with the bad weather(not their fault) creates feeling for depression for the people who are not under the influence of amsterdam's privilegues. No room service in the late hours. Horrible view, and not that much the view as beeing in ceneter of amsterdam doesnt gives you beach and palm expectations but the windows of the surrounding buildings were so close that if u dont have HBO in your

The hotel is excellently placed - 5 mins from the train station, just off Damrak. The room was clean, the bathroom modern and fully working and the beds were comfortable. I really could find no fault with it. The only thing I would say is that the breakfast at 20 euros a day (16 euros with Venere discount) is somewhat exorbitant. Hence the breakfast room seemed to be empty most mornings.

Hotel should offer a continential breakfast option in addition to the 20 Euro breakfast. Many of us do not want a huge 20 Euro breakfast! Limit the time on the internet in the hotel lobby to 30 minutes maximum if others are waiting. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again at your hotel. It was convenient and I very much liked the room and decor (peaceful blue).

For our trip, we took a shuttle bus from Schipol airport. At the time of check-in at Golden Tulip, it was found that an article was accidentally left behind in the shuttle bus. The hotel staff was very responsive in contacting the shuttle bus service and arranging a drop off of our missing article. Other than the excellent service from staff, we found the hotel room to be quite comfortable and sufficiently quiet. Highly recommended!

The parking is provided by the city and paid to the city. The price was different than what was on the web. It cost me a lot more than I expected for parking. Otherwise, staying at the Golden Tulip was great. It is located at walking distance from most seeing site. Breakfast is expensive and we preferred small restaurant at walking distance.

Room was a good size with nice decor. Hotel staff was new and made check-in difficult. Other guests were loud and messing with our door around 3 am which made for bad nights' sleep. I would have thought a 4 star hotel would have had a quieter clientele. The required 50 euro deposit for the mini bar was an annoying and stupid issue. For just a tiny bit of snacks and water in a basket (not even in a frig), they were quite overprotective and "tight-wad"ish about it. Instead of just asking me if I had anything from it and then trusting my word about it, I had to wait at check-out while they went to check it before giving my deposit back! I've had way better service at 2 star hotels.

A nice hotel conveniently situated a short walk from the station and some attractions and near the trams for the museum area and concert hall. Breakfast buffet is very nice if a bit expensive and take care they do not charge you full rate if you have a discount. Since it was our first time in Amsterdam, i felt that the receptionist (she was a trainee) could have been a bit more helpful as we didn't understand what she was saying about where the car park was situated. Also, we felt the mini bar was very overpriced especially since most of the food and drink was out of date. It was also a bit annoying to find the cleaners banging on the door twice at 8.30 am in the morning when you're fast asleep in bed and don't have to be out of the hotel until before 12 noon. Apart from that, the hotel was lovely, the room was nice and very comfortable.

The hotel receptionist was surprisingly courteous and helpful. I have never been to Amsterdam, or Europe, before. The city itself seemed a little friendless (and it was raining, which didn't help). This was the best hotel I stayed at in Europe (I stayed in hotels in Munich, Katowice, Venice, Florence, and Milan). The room was very spacious as far as European hotels go. The room was also very modern and nicely decorated. I particularly liked that the wireless internet was free to use. Also, the room had a nice LCD flat panel TV which had a welcome message on it when I first entered the room. The hotel is perfectly located near the Centraal Station. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to have a stay in a higher-end hotel in Amsterdam without having to pay through the nose.

This is a good quality business type hotel and therefore somewhat lacking in atmosphere in what is essentially a party city. The room was fine with an extremely comfortable bed and excellent linen. I have two main issues. The reception staff were somewhat unhelpful particularly in respect of settling the bill. Despite written confirmation of costs, they attempted to charge me the full stay rate of 295 euros as a daily rate. The hotel was value at the full stay rate, certainly not as a daily rate. Also on the day of our departure, despite a 12pm check out time, the room maid attempted to clean our room from very early, - something not appreciated the morning after the night before. despite a request to reception, this continued all morning with 4 attempts to enter the room.

Nevertherless i would recommend this hotel but if you are a non-smoker then make sure you get a non-smoking room as our room smelt of smoke. The location of this hotel is absoutely excellant - only 5 minutes walk from dam square and 5 minutes walk from central station.

Overall our stay was very good. The room quality and location were excellent. Two problems arose. We were only in town on an overnight on our way back to Canada. I would not use your hotel in future and would find one that would allow an early check-in - late check out that would accommodate our flight schedule. Secondly, we tried to order the hotel chuttle and at first reception seemed not to know what I was talking about. When he did finally ask one of his collegues he seemed very unfamiliar with the system and did not instill confidence that I would be obtaining transportation to the airport. BEst regards, Marnie

The special rate through Venere offered a superb value for this quality "business" hotel. The location, just 3 blocks from Centraal Station, and very close to major Trolley lines, is perfect for the first-time visitor. The rooms are very clean, modern, and quiet. Yuo can walk to Dam Square, Magna Plaza, and Anne Frank Huis. There is also Internet access on 2 computers in the small lounge area near reception. I highly recommend the Golden Tulip, having also stayed at one of the company's hotel in Milan.

This is a very well run hotel in very central location. I have been to A'dam many times and this is the best value hotel I have stayed in. I stayed in a junior suite which was lovely but there some issues with noise from deliveries during the night.

Main complaint is the welcoming at check in. She did not discuss the breakfast with me. Also, there was a light bulb out in the bathroom that I reported and it was not fixed. At check out, they charged me more than the quoted price and luckily I had a print out of the confirmation with the price. Also, the city tax was not noted on the quoted price and it was an extra fee.

First time in Amsterdam and staying at the Golden Tulip made our experience a quality one. The hotel is a very short walk from Central Station (handy if you have heavy baggage). The staff at this hotel are excellent and more than willing to help their guests. The rooms are what you would expect from a good quality hotel and the breakfast is also very good. The hotel feels really secure, you cannot enter the lifts etc without having your room card so no worries about room theft etc. The location is also excellent if you like to be amongst the city life with all the usual places to see within walking distance and although it s a busy area you hardly hear any noise. Many thanks to the staff who allowed our friends to leave their luggage in the storage area even though they were not hotel guests!! Excellent hotel overall!!

Ottima posizione. Molto carino anche il ristorante convenzionato accanto. Forse 23 euro di colazione sono un po' troppi...

only two gripes that really let them down. No room service; not what I expected from a 4-star and also a Golden Tulip. They suggested using the restaurant next door who were quite good, but I really expect room service for things like club sandwich, for instance. Also, their version of a twin room was a double bed with two mattresses. Ummmmm....

I had sent email asking if breakfast was included but never heard back. Upon check-in we were told it wasn't included but was available for 17Euros per person - very expensive breakfast! That was my only complaint which is minor. Great proximity to train station.
