We booked the Podere Giulio agriturismo for one night just before starting a cruise from the port of Civitavecchia not far from there. We chose it based on the lower price and wanting to stay at a farmhouse during our Italy trip. This hotel was not exactly convenient to anything, but I guess that's not surprising for an agriturismo. The rooms were very large, with a big bed downstairs a partial kitchen, a sitting room area and even a loft with 2 twin beds. However, our only disappointment was that instead of an old farmhouse where someone lives, this just seemed to be a rural version of a motel with a big restaurant and nice breakfast. It had a friendly & helpful staff, and we enjoyed talking with one of the young owners (family owned by 3 brothers and their mother). They also own a second agriturismo 300 meters from there, he told us, and he lives at that one. We could see the water (coast), but it was not close enough to want to walk over to it and walk around the beach before leaving the next morning. However, that would be nice during a longer stay. We recommend it as a an overnight stay on your way to or from the Rome airport or a cruise ship.

One of the highlights of our trip: Sandro & Michele went out of their way to make us feel at home! This was my first stay at an agriturismo, and I was unsure how 'rustic' it might be. I need not have worried. The place was sparkling clean, the largest room we had during our trip through Italy, and kept very warm for us (we arrived on a cold, rainy Sunday, and I was so relieved to step into a warm room with a hot shower!) The beach is just a short walk away, and it's a 10-15 minute drive up to Tarquinia--a really charming, romantic town; definitely stop in the museum and head over to the necropolis. We decided to eat at Podere Giulio's restaurant for dinner. That meal was one of our best memories from the trip. 1. We were the only non-Italians in the room. 2. The food was VERY, VERY good; and Michele helped us decide what to order from start to finish. 3. The atmosphere was so warm and lively--with a big wood-burning oven in the room, groups of families and friends chatting all around, etc. By all means, grab at least one meal here! I would absolutely stay here again & recommend it to friends travelling in the area. This is also a great place to stay the night before you catch a flight at Fiumicino. It took us about an hour to drive to the airport from Podere Giulio & the scenery along the way was much prettier than driving down th A1. All in all: a perfect 10. We loved it!

We stopped off here on our way between the Cinque Terre and the Amalfi coast. Our apartment was wonderful. It was very large and spacious and modern. From the pictures I knew there was a beach and was disappointed that it wasn't closer. It was a hike through a number of fields along a country road...we did not have time to make it there as we arrived so late in the afternoon. Dinner was lovely and it was interesting...it was the only menu on our whole trip to Italy that was only in Italian, no English. This isn't a problem, it was fun, it's only an observation. We came home with olive oil produced here.

It was a great experience. They have private access to the beach, it is incredible to stay alone in the beach!! Breakfast was quite good, with all biscuits and croisants made by themselves. It would be great to have kitchen. They only have fridge.
