Inn Casa Grande Do Bachao - Santa Cristina de Fecha, Santiago de Compostela

Das Hotel liegt ca. 11 km von Santiago de Compostela entfernt. Aber es ist eine Oase der Ruhe, die man nach dem Trubel braucht. Das Frühstück war Exelent. Alles Spezialitäten. Persolnal sehr freundlich. Zimmer sehr rustikal, sowie man es auf einem Gutshof erwartet.

The Casa Grande is lovely. Staff are wonderful, and the grounds are lovely. The hotel is hidden about 4 km off a local road and was a bit challenging to find. We shared our experience with another couple staying there, and they got there the same way we did: with the help of directions from the fellow at the nearby gas station. The house is beautiful and the property in general is beautiful. Rooms are comfortable. There is no air conditioning. You are truly in the forest here, so perhaps it might be cooler at night. I found it a bit warm at night for my taste, even in early May, but that's just me. We took dinner at the hotel the two nights we were there, which turned out to be the best value of our entire vacation. The cost for a delicious three course meal was 15 Euros. Wine was extra, but bottle prices were very reasonable. The dining room was gorgeous, the server was wonderful, and you cannot beat the convenience of having an excellent meal in your hotel after a full day of taking in the sights. The one down side of our stay was the lack of sound proofing in the room. The walls are paper thin, as we found out the hard way via the screaming infant in the next room. When my wife sneezed one night while reading in bed, I thought I heard someone say, "Salud!" The hotel is about 15 km outside of Santiago, which equates to a 25 minute drive. Parking in the city is tough (use one of the large car parks). Further, the local road to the vicinity of the hotel that leads from Santiago is not marked as my Michelin map, GPS or even the hotel staff say it is supposed to be, hence the need to ask for directions. The small road that leads to the hotel from the main road is at times a one lane road, and heaven help you if someone is coming the other way when the road narrows. Despite some negatives, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Casa Grande.

What a wonderful surprise and value! The photos cannot do the Casa Grande justice. It is rustically elegant, unique and overall, comfortable and memorable. We had a good time. There are so many enticing public areas along with the beautiful landscape and roaring river, that this is a true find for the traveler to the Santiago/Galetic area. The engaging staff completes an almost perfect 10 rating.
