Il Noceto is situated in the Porritto estate, at an altitude of 1235 metres near the village of Santa Domenica Vittoria, on the road from Floresta to Randazzo at 30 Km from Taormina and 20 from Volcano etna It is a part of the Nebrodi Natural Park, bordering Etna and Alcantara Natural Parks.
The Agriturismo "Il NOCETO" is situated on the watershed between the Tyrrhenian and Ionic seas,40 Km from Patti and Milazzo where the ferry-boats and hovercrafts leave regularly connecting Sicily to the Aeolian Islands in approximately one hour enjoyable sea crossing. Taormina, Giardini Naxos, Bronte, Randazzo, the Alcantara Gorges and Mount Etna (for a pleasant guided excursion in a day) can be easily reached, as can Catania, Messina, Siracusa, Palermo and Monreale, Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples, Caltagirone and Piazza Armerina which are approximately two hours driving from "Il NOCETO".
The Agriturismo "Il NOCETO" has 14 bedrooms with private bathrooms, and facilities for the disabled, where 31 people can be lodged; the rooms are comfortable and airy; when requested, extra single beds and television sets can be provided. The restaurant consists of two dining-rooms and a wide veranda overlooking the volcano Etna; home made traditional food and vegetables is the basic menu. Our restaurant offers home-grown and organic food and also typical Nebrodi area dishes. Our own farm and other local products are on sale.
We speak Italian, English, French and Spanish.

The Farm Home is run by a lovely couple who obliged us with their hospitality and were so kind to waste their time accompanying us to the nearby village police station in order to help us declare that we had lost our passports. We are grateful to both Giovanna and Nino.

This was the first time in Sicily and we wanted to be overlooking Mt. Etna. The location was perfect, our hosts were superb and very attentive, though not intrusive. The food was excellent and plentiful. The scenery was magnificent and the area was beautiful. We would love to go back to see Sicily in general and these people in particular - we intend to do so in the future.

As for professional reasons we had to be near Catania, we decided to go by car and take a week of leasure. We found this farm place on the internet and took a chance. It was easy enouh to find (people in the village know the place and many of the elder men speak German or French). We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The location is beautiful and quiet with a great view of the Etna. We used it as a base to explore the eastern half of Sicily by car, the location is perfect for that. Our room was great with many windows looking out over the Etna and very quiet except for the occasional sound of cow bells. The landlady speaks good English and the landlord French, very helpful. They are sympathetic people and we did spend some time with them on various occasions, discussing a variety of topics and tasting each other's favorite drinks. Very pleasant. All in all our week at this farm place and with these people was memorable and whenever we need to visit southern Italy again we will certainly remember it and have another stay. We recommend it without any reservations.

Room Details

The rooms are in most cases double and often with three beds. They are comfortable and airy so it's possible to add extra single beds. We have an independent apartment with a three beds room and a second single bedroom with a large bathroom in common.
All the rooms have painted wood beds, with night tables, a wardrobe and a wooden writing-desk.

How to reach Il Noceto Inn

By car
From Messina
Motorway Messina- Palermo (A20). Exit Patti. Go on towards Randazzo up to the crossroads of Favoscuro. Continue towards Randazzo for 3,300 kilometres: on your right you'll see the sign "Il Noceto".

From Palermo

Motorway Palermo - Messina (A 19 and A20). Exit Brolo. Go on towards Palermo following the SS 113 up to the Ponte di Naso (soon after the ERG service station), turn left towards Sinagra, Ucria, and Floresta up to the crossroads of Favoscuro. Continue towards Randazzo for 3,300 kilometres: on your right you'll see the sign "Il Noceto".

From Catania

Motorway Catania - Messina (A18). Exit Fiumefreddo. Continue towards Randazzo. Then follow the SS 116 (Randazzo - Capo d'Orlando) for km. 11.600 : on your left you'll see the sign "Il Noceto". You can also follow the map.

From Catania you can also follow the road 211 for Paternò, then the SS 284 towards Bronte and Randazzo. In Randazzo take the SS 116 (Randazzo- Capo d'Orlando) for 11.600 kilometres: on your left you'll see the sign "Il Noceto"

By airplane
The Sicilian Airports are: Palermo- Punta Raisi, Catania-Fontana Rossa and Trapani- Birgi. You might also land at Reggio Calabria airport. You can hire a car in any airport or city.

If you arrive at Trapani- Birgi, take the motorway Trapani Palermo (A 29), then Palermo Buonfornello (A 19) and Buonfornello Messina (A20). Exit Brolo. Then follow the instructions "from Palermo by car".

If you land at Palermo or Catania airports, follow the instructions "from Palermo and Catania by car".
