Inn Il Colto - San Gimignano
Via Baccanella 15 - San Gimignano
877-662-6988Outside the farmhouse there is a garden and loggia. This is where we serve breakfast during the summer, and where you can relax, enjoy the sun and admire San Gimignano, with its beautiful towers, while savouring excellent Colli Senesi Chianti wine, extra virgin olive oil and our raisin wine " Vin Santo del Nonno" , all produced by us in keeping with tradition and with the utmost respect for nature. Next to the farmhouse stands the owner's house, built around the end of 1800, and the working farm which has been there for the past 70 years.

I have never stayed in a cleaner place, so if that is of importance, choose this place. The hotel is closer to city than what is stated. You just climb some steps and there you are. Very nice garden and a very lovely view of the city. Convinient parking behind gates. No breakfast, but that is just around the corner. Very nice hostess. Recommendable. Taste her wine.

This B&B was nice, although there was no breakfest, we were the only people there and they were closing down for the season, the location was perfect, a 2 minute walk if that into San Gimignano, there was a wonderful winery about a miles walk away, the owner suggested 2 resturants to us which were both delicious, the one closer to the B&B is more worth it for the money. We loved this place and would definatly recommend and go back again. Such a beautiful town

Great location for walking to and exploring San Gimignano. Clean and tidy. Supermarket close by. No fridge in room. Not very soundproof as could hear person talking loudly on mobile in room next to accommodation.

Anna was a superb hostess. The location is perfect for visiting San Gimignano. Parking is secure and the rooms were clean. Anna provided us with a bottle of wine and bread and cheese(s)for us to try - EXCELLENT.

We truly enjoyed our stay at II Colto. Our hostess provided the BEST continental breakfast we had in all of Italy! Homemade croissants, homemade jams. The view from their yard is stunning. The room was adequate and I loved her windows and curtains. We were able to park on their property and then walk to the city easily. We wish we could have stayed longer. We would definitely stay there again if we are fortunate enough to return to Italy.

My husband and I spent one night in Il Colto. Very cozy, very relaxed. It is important that asking for direction before arrival. Anna provides very detailed and accurate information. The house is very clean and quiet, yet very close to the main gate of San Gimignano. All the rooms are equipped with a private bathroom. The facilities and furnithre in the room are new and of high quality. The only inconvenience is that there is no internet point in the house. We had our breakfast in the little garden, which is very dreamy. Breakfast prepared by Anna is 5 euros per person. If you don't need it, there is a supermarket nearby, about 2 minutes on foot. Anna also recommends a restaurant just several steps away, which provides food of high quality and the price is reasonable. Life here is slow, so just relax and enjoy everything!

Great place. The best thing is that it has inside parking and it's 200 m from the city centre.

The room was nice and the owner was very helpful. This is a small, three room space and the owner is VERY picky about how you treat the room, etc. She was a little too attentive and it was hard to relax and enjoy. Also, the place is very, very, very hard to find and the directions are deficient. But, we liked it and the price was great.

An excellent base for sight seeing of San Gimignano. 5 mins into centre and ideal to have the secure car park. Plenty of places to eat. The host Anna proved to be a great source of local information and advice for places to vist and where to park in Florence and Sienna. Our first visit to Tuscany and this venue with Anna as host increased our enjoyment

The location of the property was amazing as it was just outside the city walls. However, we found it almost impossible to find using the given directions. Anna, the owner, is helpful, pleasant and welcoming. Assume you will be walking to the city proper so no need for expensive parking. There are hills and steps so you must be able to navigate them. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our 3 day stay at Il Colto and would recommend to anyone looking at this price range.

The main attractiveness of Il Colto is its closeness to the town. We had GPS, but it was so difficult to find this place. The inn keeper is friendly and speaks basic English. The breakfast at the pattio is pleasant. We thought that the bed is a bit soft and the bathroom is small. There are many cats roaming in the property, so if you do not like cats, you might want to avoid this place. You get only liquid hand soap in the bathroom and are expected to buy shampoo & bar soap for yourself. The room is basic and clean.

Il Colto was a real find. Within 5 minutes of the main entrance to San Gimignano, it couldn't have been better situated, especially since parking was available within an electronically controlled area. The view from the garden was amazing, looking right over their vineyard to San Gimignano. Speaking of the vineyard, we purchased a bottle of their own wine which was very palatable. Anna, our hostess spoke English very well and was most accomodating. Our room was in a fairly new building with excellent bathroom facilities. All in all great value for the money.

Il Colto is absolutely perfect. Anna is a wonderful host, so friendly and welcoming. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and very comfortable, the garden a haven with fantastic views and the location couldn't be closer to the Porta San Giovanni. The olive oil I brought home with me from Il Colto is delicious and will remind me of our lovely stay for months to come. Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous!

Il Colto has location going for it. But Anna needs to understand her clientel. She did not offer breakfast and made it clear it was our fault for not asking for it. The place is nice but Anna does not understand her customers and seemed a bit put out by having us there.

Lovely room. the only problem is the location, it is out of the town(the map is quite misleading). I spent 1 hour to find it, it was not easy, especially lots of people can't speak English. Next time, I would like to stay in the town, the night view is great there!

What a find! The location of Il Colto was perfect being close to the city walls and centre of San Gimignano. Free parking was a bonus. The owner was really friendly and welcoming and made our stay a delight. Breakfast in the garden each morning was wonderful. I recommend Il Colto without reservation and would certainly return there. Ana, the owner, is extremely kind, we arrived at 2 a.m. (delayed flight) and she welcomed us with a smile! The location is perfect, so near the centre, and it has a parking place for your car, great advantage. As the only negative thing I'd mention that our room was next to the breakfast room and, as it is not soundproof, the noise could be heard. Maybe it is not a problem for heavy sleepers!

This was wonderful!! We love the area and this B&B is in the perfect spot. Anna was so nice and so helpful. We really enjoyed it. Our only negative thought would be that breakfast was not what we expected. We were a bit disappoointed in that. This is our parent's first visit to Italy and they absolutely loved it. We certainly plan to go back again and will spread the word that this place is absolutely wonderful!!!!

Il Colto was a lovely oasis in Tuscany. It's located right outside of the walls so there's no need to find additional parking to get into town or to take the bus. Anna is very very careful with her things so everything is in excellent condition, and she was very helpful with suggestions and directions. The only thing that's a little inconvenient is that there's no real option to keep your car parked there or leave your suitcases for a bit if you want to explore in the morning. We just ended up taking everything and paying for parking in the lot. Otherwise, this was an excellent choice! The garden outside is lovely for gazing out at San Gimignano and having a nice glass of wine.

My stay at Il Colto was wonderful. The location was perfect - close enough to town for an easy walk, yet tranquil with a beautiful view over the hillsides and old town. The room was lovely with modern and homey features. Anna, the owner was a delight. She provided excellent service and was helpful with all my requests. I couldn't have made a better choice for accomodations than Il Colto. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Our visit started out poorly with the very poor directions that were not accurate - despite having a GPS device the location could not be reached by it's street address. When we finally did find it, the location was indeed within easy walking distance to San Gimignano. The room was adequate with a large bath and a good shower. Very clean. The bed was VERY hard with poor quality linens. There is A/C which is a plus in the summer. We did not have the optional breakfast as there was a COOP grocery around the corner with pastries and fruit. Overall, not the the great value we anticipated.

Charming B&B very near the gate of San Gimignano (hardly a 5 minute walk). Private room in the annexe of the main house. Very convenient and comfortable. Has private parking on the premise, which is helpful as the parking cost in Tuscany is quiet high. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Our stay at Il Colto was one of the best if not the best we've had throughout Europe. The accommodations were fantastic (spacious, clean, room and bathroom, with a terrace and garden in front of the B&B for breakfast or a drink), the welcoming superb (Anna is a gem) and the proximity to the town undeniable(5 minute walk). I would recommend it to anyone. We plan on going back with the kids.

For a night's stay this was perfect for my partner and I. It was just a few steps from San Gimignano. It also offered offroad parking behind secure gates, has a lovely tranquil garden, lots of cats (outside) and a very hospitable owner - Anna. Anna doesn't speak a lot of English but with the use of a phrase book no problems. Great. Would not hesitate to go back again.
