Fattoria Voltrona - San Gimignano

Disappointed in "Tuscan dinner". Too expensive for quantity and very ordinary. Chose to eat in town. Rooms lacked standard amenities..radio,clock,tissues,ice etc. Nights were cool, no one could get heat to our room. Otherwise great view great wine. Overall agood place.

Beautiful setting and could not get better food and unlimited wine when you pay for lunch and dinner there. AMAZING views! Only down side is the lack of air-conditioning but with the pool on the hot days it is fine.

Arriving at the Voltrona farm is everything you hope for, gorgeous scenery, stunning Tuscan style homestead set amongst rolling vineyards & olive groves. We were greeted warmly by Susannah at reception who showed us to our room...her favourite because of the beautiful view from our bedroom window. She looked after us so well for the 2 days we stayed, answering all our questions & giving us maps & advice for the walk through the vineyards into the town of San Gimignano...a must to do!!! We ate dinner in the restaurant both nights, great country style set menu with wine included, excellent value for money! We would definitely return & recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Tuscan experience & value for money.

The farm is quite "off the beaten track". The surroundings are beautiful, but the room itself was extremely simple, no air-conditioning, and very small bathroom. I requested a room not near the dining room (as recommended on this site), but that's what we were given, and we were woken by guests returning to their rooms at night. The doors/walls are very thin. The breakfast was very modest.

Our stay at Fattoria Voltrona was excellent. Our host, Salvatore was great to talk to and spent time with us. The staff also were very helpful with any queries we had. We didn't need to go anywhere to eat because we enjoyed the food they served so much. Brekky was also delicious. We enjoyed our stay very much and I will definitely stay there if I go back to San Gimignano.

Talk about being deep in the heart of Tuscany! What a view, what a place. Location is spectacular and easy reach of Pisa and Florence. *Rooms are clean and large, bathrooms well maintained. (Ask for a room that is not in the breakfast area; it can tend to be noisy as four or more people come in and out.) *Every employee had a smile on their face and was genuinely happy to serve you. *The lunch and dinners are excellent value, especially with the unending wine carafe! The wine for purchase (organic Chianti) is value priced and wonderful. *If you are looking for a day of simply relaxing, stay at the farm as everyone leaves to sight-see, then the farm is absolutely peaceful and still during the day. Perfect for book reading or wandering. *Be sure to visit San Gimignano (6 km away) ancient centre, and don't miss the viewing platform from the top of the town.
