These are the photos of the little Romanic country-church of the 12th century, it has the structure of a historic building (year 1183). Here you can feel the spell of the past and you can enjoy a real quietness surrounded by a hilly countryside. You can have more historical details during your visit to the church.

In the building aged 1800, there is an old natural cellar dug out from the yellow earth-stone named Tufo, used to maintain the wine thanks to its constant low temperature.

The owner long experience of all rural activities is at disposal to all requesting clients; our farmhouse offers home made product sample and taste, like olive oil and wine.

For hiking lovers, San Gimignano is reachable in only 800 meters, walking along a white road; for all the other ones, we provide a shuttle service back and forth to San Gimignano centre.

It is for sure an "agriturismo" to recommend to all those wishing to fully relax in a very quiet and "warm" environment where the kindness and the competence of the host is simply perfect. My family and myself fully enjoyed the staying at "Il colombaio di S.Chiara"

We stayed in San Gimignano for 3 days. The bed and breakfast is located just outside the centre of the town (approx 1.5 km walk). The Farm Home has beautiful views and the room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was very ordinary, but adequate. Unfortunately, the one family member who is able to speak English was not available and there is no one else who can communicate in English. We found it strange that our bed was not made up once during our stay, the dirt bin was not emptied and toilet paper not replenished. As we were not able to communicate with anyone this presented a problem! The people we did have dealings with seemed to be genuine, nice people but it is not acceptable to not have your room attended in 3 days.

Charming farm setting. Comfortable family-run inn. One room was very spacious, the other not. Very close to town, but not practical without a car. Very hospitable.

My 13 year old daughter and I stayed for four nights and loved every minute of it. Both Mario and Franka were incredibly generous and welcoming. They do not speak English but that did not effect our stay. I quite enjoyed trying out my few words of Italian and they were ever so patient with me.(I never got to meet their son who speaks English). We stayed in the room with the kitchen(the only kitchen) which was stocked with some basics. It was lovely sipping on wine and enjoying a meal out on the patio overlooking the countryside. We did find the white road that goes to San Gimignano. Just backtrack along the road (direction S.G.)to the first sharp corner to the right..a small ravine..and it's on your left(about 100 to 200 yards from the driveway). It looks like it could be a driveway but it's not. It forks immediately and you want to stay to the right. My daughter loved staying at Il Colombaio and wants to return there. If you love the countryside, peace and quiet, friendly atmosphere and a real working farm I would highly recommend a stay at Il Colombaio.

I definitely recommend it and if in the area again will return to Il Colombaio. We arrived very late in the evening and found the farm house with the help of directions given by other guests on venere.com. I suggest that the landlady, who is extremely nice, includes in location, the direction as given by Vicki Brooks Oct 2007 in the guests review.

The most charming and delightful stay. Alessio and his family made us welcome and were ever so helful while we muddled our way to the area. They went above and beyond the call of duty and made us feel as family.

Il Colombaio is a pleasant farmhouse close to San Gimignano. The rooms are spacious and very quiet. It has a pleasant outdoor sitting area where you can watch the surrounding beautiful Tuscan scenery. The owners produce their own very tasteful white wine and olive oil. It has an excellent position for visiting Volterra, the Chianti area, Colle di Val d' Elsa, Monterrigione, Certaldo, and Siena.

San Gimignano is a wonderful town to stroll, shop and sit in the town square enjoying drink, food & people watching. The local artists and restaurants were greatly appreciated. Staying at Il Colombaio Di Santachiara was icing on the cake. It was great to walk out of the front door and sit on the patio overlooking the Tuscany country side. The rooms were spacious and everything was very clean. The family is great!

Mario and his family are very sweet and accommodating though you'll need to brush up on your Italian. He and his wife speak very little english and their son isn't always around. Beautiful views, very clean rooms; interiorly, exactly what I expected from their pictures. The place was hard for us to find in the dark. There is a neighborhood called Santa Chiara just down the hill from the entrance to San Gimignano. This is NOT where they're located. As you're headed towards San G., before you get to the neighborhood of Santa Chiara, there will be a round-about that has an arrow pointed towards Voltarre. that's the way to go. It's down that street on the right. Keep your eyes open for their sign. We had a lovely time and would return in a heartbeat!

The lovely little spot is just south of San Gimignano towards San Donato and not in the direction of the Santa Chiara sign on the edge of town. Lovely quiet little spot, clean and cool. Nice breakfast in the morning. The host is very kind but does not speak a word of English so a few key Italian phrases can be very helpful.

A better map and directions would be useful. We arrived after dark and had trouble seeing the lighted signs. Suggest the directions include something like "Our driveway is at the bottom of the hill, about 1 kilimeter from San Gimignano on the road leading to Castel de San Gimignano. It is on the west side of the road directly across from a bar."

Nous avons passé un formidable séjour, dans une suite digne d'un grand hôtel, et avec un accueil familial que nous n'aurions su espérer. Il Colombaio di Santa Chiara restera pour nous une référence inoubliable. Grazie mille, Franca, Mario, Alessio e i suoi fratelli.

This place was lovely. Beautiful bathroonm and shower and spotlessly clean. The family were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast in the house was good. The only problem was the walk into the town. We managed it well but it could be difficult for people with poor mobility or with children because it's steep and part of it is on a main road with no pavement and on a bend, quite dangerous at night or after a bottle of chianti. Absolutley fine if you had a car, we were using public transport.

Very beautiful place. Rooms are new and nicely decorated. it is located a bit outside san gimigliano city and it has beautifull vineyards all around. The owners produce their own wine and olive oil which is very good. Very friendly couple , we had breakfast at their kitchen every morning and Mrs Franka made very tasty cakes. Just remember that they dont accept credit cards so pay with cash.

My girlfriend & I stayed here in May 2004. Beautiful location 2kms from San Gimi but the owners told us about a shortcut which cut the walk to town to 20mins..brilliant! Very friendly family run, except nobody spoke English because their daughter was away. We managed with our pigeon Italian and they tried hard to explain. VERY clean, beautiful rooms with fantastic furniture. Croissants and sweet cake for breakfast -with coffee of course. The open hearth stove at breakfast was a nice touch as well.

A wonderful stay in a 3 guestrooms home, We felt just as part of the family who is running the business, the scenery is fantastic, a car shuttle is available next door ( for a small fee ) to take guests to San Giminiano town. Since the family produces wine (and olive oil),sampling of these products is available: the red wine vintage 2001 is a pure delight !
