Located just a stone’s throw from one of the most stunning stretches of Ionian coastline of the Salento region, Tenuta del Barco in Marina di Pulsano is a place that exudes old-fashioned charm; a place where visitors can immerse themselves in nature, surrounded by the peace and tranquillity that only the real Apulia can give. One can reach the natural, public beach and the Ionian Sea in just a few minutes by bicycle. Guests may also use the bathing establishment facilities and the Tenuta’s attended parking lots, located along the Ionian beach.
The Tenuta del Barco (the Barco estate) gets its name from an ancient dry wall, or “Barco”, the handicraft of master wall builders. Little remains of the old fold, used over the centuries to provide a temporary haven for herds of sheep and goats, only the portion enclosing the farm’s pine grove.
Just a few hundred meters from the wild sand dunes of the Salento coastline, there’s a 17th-century farming village, the Masseria Porvica, right in the centre of the Tenuta.
Having chosen a different path from that of mass tourism, Tenuta del Barco kindles an authentic atmosphere of hospitality, tangible above all in the pleasure of sharing with guests the best of everyday life.
The Tenuta del Barco estate offers board and accommodation in seven residences looking onto the courtyard of an old farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century, and in seven pine-built cottages nestling in a cool pine grove. Apulian cuisine is based on local agricultural produce and fish. What makes the Locanda del Barco restaurant so great is its loyalty to this tradition. Indeed, the more than hundred hectares of the Tenuta are planted today, as in the past, with table and wine grapes (the Tenuta uses its red malvasia and negroamaro varietals to produce an excellent D.O.C. wine), with olives for Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and with durum wheat, melons and tomatoes.

Great place, people were more than helpful, chef is fantastic, we were spoiled during our stay. Room was terrific, spacious and clean. Property was a country setting...

It’s very easy to get to the Masseria Porvica: it is located just 50 km from the A14 motorway Taranto tollgate; from there, proceed just up to the outskirts of Taranto and then follow the signs for Grottaglie (regional highway 7 TA-BR). Take the S. Giorgio Jonico exit and follow regional highway 7ter in the direction of Pulsano or Lizzano.Transportation is available to and from the Taranto Central train station (35 km) and to and from the Airport of Brindisi (55 km) or Bari (100 km).
