Inn Il Colombaiolo - Pienza
Podere Colombaiolo 12 - Pienza
877-662-6988The farmhome, family run, dates from the 15th century and has been recently restructured, providing guests with every comfort. The property, nestled in 30 hectares of land of olive groves, vineyards and lawns, gives guests the opportunity to observe various types of birds and deers, as well as the farm animals - hens, cockerels, plovers, turkeys, ducks, geese and the friendly farm dogs.
One of the best places we had stayed in Italy. Everything was as described, easy walk to Pienza, beautiful views from the farm, very friendly hosts. Will stay there ...

My wife and I spent a very enjoyable 8-night stay at Il Colombaiolo in early May. We chose it because of its location and very high Venere guest rating which proved to be fully justified. Our room was spacious and comfortable and also cleaned daily by the always helpful Lucia. Il Colombaiolo's elevated position provides panoramic views over the picturesque Val D'Orcia. It's also within a 10 minute walk of Pienza with its historic buildings, interesting streets and choice of good places to eat and drink. We'd happily return to Pienza and to stay again at Il Colombaiolo and would therefore willingly recommend both to fellow travellers looking for an exceptional base to tour the area.

Really great stay. The room was beautiful and the entire place was spotless. Lucia was very welcoming and gracious, and helped us out on the phone when our airline misplaced our luggage. The place is private, with a beautiful view overlooking farm country, but it is about 10-15min. walk outside of town. It really wasn't bad. I would recommend this B&B highly.

Unforgettable. We staid in 2005 for the first time at Il Colombaiolo and were so charmed by our stay that we now had to go back and stay there again. We were once again the only guests and were treated like kings with a wonderful breakfast in open air with view on the valley surrounding Pienza. We can only recommend this very highly to our friends!

This was a fantastic agriturismo location. My husband and I were there on our honeymoon and were very pampered during our stay. Highly recommended!

The warm welcome, the breathtaking view out of our room, the rich breakfast, the cleanliness of the appartment and surroundings and last but not least the very good care of Lucia have made this stay unforgettable to us.

Our stay at Il Colombaiolo was one of the highlights of our 3 weeks in Italy. It's in the perfect spot for touring the surrounding hill towns, and Pienza itself is a magical village to spend the day in. Highly recommend Trattoria Latte Di Luna and their suckling pig! Lucia and Maresco, the breakfasts, the view and our room - all fabulous. Lucia - there are still no snakes in New Zealand!

We had a fabulous time at Il Colombaiolo. The room was HUGE and very clean - the bathroom alone was the size of most urban Italian hotel rooms. We didn't expect or frankly need all the amenities provided but they were lovely. Lucia was the perfect host - kind, interesting, helpful, but respectful of your privacy. She made and incredible breakfast every morning. It is one of the things I miss the most now that we are back home (everyday we stayed was different goodies each morn). Pienza is a great jumping off point to explore all the hill towns. You can walk to Pienza but because we mostly went out at night and had rain, we usually drove in (not a problem). The price is truly great for the experience. I highly recommend!

Room was great. We were 3 people in a room with a double bed and a single and it was very spacious still. Our only problem with this place was that there were too many rules regarding having ANY outside food or beverages in the room and they had signs posted EVERYWHERE telling you these rules. We ended up hiding the cheese, fruit and bottle of wine we had purchased off site as the signs were very specific about fines, etc etc. I am sure this has to do with the Italian laws rather than the family, as Lucia and her husband were fabulously courteous, friendly and helpful. If rules weren't so crazy, we would have extended our stay for 4 more nights and cancelled our other reservation elsewhere! Beautiful location with amazing morning views of valley. Was so peaceful to sit and drink our coffee on patio and watch the sunrise!

We traveled to the region with another couple and all of us agreed, this was the nicest B & B we stayed at. Much thought was given to all the comforts & conveniences. The room were absolutely beautiful. The breakfast provided was the best we had had of 4 bed & breakfast locations.

The location was centrally located for visits to Orvieto, Montepulciano, Pienza and various other towns. Lucia and her husband are so friendly and warm. The place is spotless and comfortable. We walked to town for dinner and had a fun and "scarey" walk home in the dark, with the flashlight provided by the farm -- which provided a lot of laughs! The rooms were very spacious and the views were fantastic. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. When we went into the town for dinner it was somewhat late, but, we could tell it looked like a place that would be fun to explore if we had more time. Lots of little shops for local products. We were traveling with our children (12 & 13) and they really enjoyed it too. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Il Colombaiolo was a wonderful farmhouse with all modern conveniences. It is extremely close to Pienza, which is a great little town and which is conveniently located near all the major sites in Tuscany and Umbria. Lucia's breakfasts were fabulous and different each day. Our family (four adults) will long remember the pleasant week that we spent at Il Colombaiolo.

First visit to Pienza - five of us were on a self-booked hiking trip from Buonconvento to Moltepulciano - excellent. Colombaiola was very nice -- pity it didn't have a resataurant.

The CD we received was a very welcome surprise. The breakfast was extaordinary. It will appeal to anyone who has a love of nature and an appreciation of the agricultural/rural way of life. I would be unafraid to recommend this B&B type of stay, to anyone who was going to stay in this general area. We look forward to opening the Olive Oil. Jim & Mary

Everything is wonderful: the house, the room, the owners. The breakfasts were the best we had in Italy, with fresh fruit every day, and served on a very nice terrace with amazing view. We have already recommended Il Colombaiolo to our friends, and if we ever come back, we know where to stay. Mille grazie Marianne & Jan-Olov

Beautiful location, with an amazing view over the Val di Orcia. Breakfast was wonderful, with a wide variety of items available, and served on a lovely patio (weather permitting). Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, though it was rather warm when we were there; the circulating fan helped, and it did cool down a bit at night. Getting into town is not too difficult, though it's uphill going, and there is a stretch that you have to walk along the edge of a fairly large road (which is a little scary, especially after dark).

Il Colombaiolo was one of the most memorable places we stayed in Italy. The hosts want to meet all your needs but also respect guest privacy. The rooms are beautiful and have many comfortable and personal touches. Excellent breakfast! We found the walk to town enjoyable, although the first few hundred yards are along a busy road. The setting is lovely, overlooking the valley.

Il Colombaiolo was absolutely fantanstic. We stayed in 7 different places around Italy, and this was the very best. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and extremely clean. The owners were very eager and willing to help. The breakfasts were the best we had on our trip. We would definitely recommend it and plan to stay there again.

We had a very nice time in Pienza. Lovely place and very friendly people. The breakfast and all small little details were perfect. The only miss was that we though Apartment meant including kitchen. Since we had breakfast included the kitchen wasn't. I think it would be better to include the use of the kitchen and add for breakfast (more logical to me). Anyhow a place to remember with a big smile! Grazie Mille!

This place was the best accomodation during our 11 days trip in Italy. Very nice view to the valley, beautifully decorated apartment with lots of space, warm welcoming. The breakfast was also tasteful. Location is good, it is easy to walk or ride with mountain bike to Pienza. Only minus was price for heating. Very good value for money. Excellent place, we were there only one night but definitely we will come back!

A perfect place to use as a base for exploring Tuscany. Outstanding accomodation at a great price. The breakfast service was the best for our trip to Italy. A lovely place to stay with friendly host despite not much English. Will definitely stay again.
