We were getting a little frustrated because this was a little difficult to find. We did eventually find it though and my wife and i were in awe. The view from this property was incredibly beautiful. We had dinner there and I beleive that it was the best dinner that we had in Italy. No menu, no choices, we were given food as if we were in someones' home. We were surprised to find that it was also the most reasonable in terms of cost. This place felt like a "gift" to us. Perfect, perfect, perfect!

Great location to use as a base for exploring the region. The farmhouse is situated on a hill with a spectacular view. An amazing pool area is onsite as well. The food and wine were incredible. Best house wine I have ever had. Would recommend staying here for the food alone. Our only complaint is that the directions to this place are inadequate. You need to look for the signs for Castello de Cobara instead of Podere il Caio (which is only one of the properties managed by the Castello). There you will check in and be given directions to the actual farmhouse where you will stay. Also, you cannot check out until the office opens at 9:00 a.m. without prior arrangements. We will be back and will stay for longer next time ( at least 3-4 days to take advantage of the area and the farmshouse's pool).

THE PROPERTY IS A LITTLE REMOTE BUT WORTH TO DRIVE THERE. THE RESTAURANT SERVES TRADITIONAL UMBRIAN DISHES AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY SPEAK ITALIAN ONLY WE ENJOIED IT VERY MUCH.

Podere Caio was a surprise to us, never having stayed on an Agriturismo property before. I expected to be helping milk the cows or bringing in the crops, but instead, was most delighted to find a collection of small family farms that had been converted to tourist/vacation housing, all of whom met at the main building - the Podere Caio - for dinner. My wife and I were somewhat concerned, given that the staff spoke zero English, which luckily was not a problem for me, but also that there were no menu choices at all for dinner. We simply were served what was cooking that evening. But what a dinner it was. Easily one of the most enjoyable meals I've ever had in Europe. The extraordinarily welcoming staff makes you feel part of the family and provides a wonderful vacation experience. This is not an easy location to find, however, and if you visit in warm weather, be aware that the rooms are not air conditioned. But if you want an accommodation that will make you feel more like a local and less like a stranger, don't miss Podere Caio.

I can thoroughly recommend Podere Caio - inspite of the fact that we did not speak Italian and the owners did not speak English - we managed fairly well and once we became accustomed to the arrangements for meals etc. we were reluctant to leave such an idyllic location. The views from the property were amazing!
