Inn Borgo Casa al Vento - Gaiole in Chianti

They write in their brochure that silence is protagonist. It surely is. Our stay was perfect--the countryside an unimaginably beautiful one that we had thought existed only in imagination; the staff helpful and friendly, the atmosphere relaxed, the long afternoons by the pool to cool off a perfect way to end the day.

The highlight of our honeymoon stay was the location, in midst of the "wild" Chianti, with easy access to Siena, Florence and Pisa. The area is absolutely lovely and equally suitable for relaxing or sightseeing. Casa al Vento lies far off the beaten track above the midevial village of Barbischio. It is quiet, old, beutifully restored, we loved it! Used the restaurant only once, the pool never, we were just too busy touring around and getting sucked into landscape and history. A place highly recommended!

If your objective is to stay in a farmhouse away from the hustle and bustle of the cities, this is your place. It sits on its own hill surrounded by wine vineyards and olive trees in the valleys. Nothing within walking distance, quiet as can be. They dont mention this in the facilities but you have to pay extra for change of linens and there was no hair dryer in the room. The pool was not open in April as stated but,the views were great,the privacy was great, not alot of english spoken, but that was fine. Gaiole in Chianti is about 15 minutes driving from the house where you can shop for groceries. We loved our stay it was relaxing and centrally located to explore Tuscany, but I dont think it was quite worth the price you pay for it.
