La Casala brought back to its former rustic charm thanks to a passionate restoration, offers the possibility to stay in an old 17th century rural hamlet surrounded by a natural park of secular olive trees, chestnut trees and other fruit trees. La Casala is composed of three farm buildings which formed a unit absolutely auto sufficient: from the old buildings (stables, dryers, cowsheds, cellars) were created four independent flats, three for the guests and one for the owners. La Casala can boast diverse peculiarities: a unique microclimate, a spectacular view on the Apuan Alps set between the green hills of Lunigiana and scattered with medieval villages and castles. Let’s not forget that in half an hour drive we can reach “le cinque terre” La Spezia, Lerici, Tellaro and last but not least Versilia. During the winter season, it’s possible to get to the ski stations of Ceretto Laghi at 2000 metres.

We are sure that La Casala with its quietness, its confortable flats (built and furnished according to the traditions and with respect to the original structures) will make you fall in love with Lunigiana.....

We loved our stay at La Casala, and hope to return someday. The hosts, Marco and Carla were so friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The small dirt road was a bit difficult to traverse and we didn't want to drive back down to get dinner, so before we knew it Carla had prepared a beautiful dinner and Marco went to the local farmer and brought back a lovely wine. /the breckfast was wonderful, with fresh breads and orange juice. The apartments were beautiful, newly refinished and clean. This was our favorite stay in Europe and wish we had stayed in the area for a week. We will be back.

CASA MARGHERITA

Quando l'abbiamo vista la prima volta non era altro che un cumulo di pietre e travi annerite.... nel passato fungeva da fienile; ora, dopo quattro anni di fatica, è diventata la "Casa Margherita"; un affascinante e confortevole alloggio su due livelli: al piano terra è si trova un'angolo cottura, una zona tv (plasma) con divano-letto ed un comodo bagno, mentre il piano superiore - con pavimenti in legno e travi a vista - è diventato una romantica camera matrimoniale con il letto a baldacchino. La Casa Margherita ha un ingresso indipendente ed una terrazza privata.









Casa Margherita
When we first saw it, it was only a pile of stones and blackened beams: it used to be a hayloft. Now, after four years of hard work it’s become Casa Margherita: a charming and comfortable two-floor accommodation. On the ground floor you can find a kitchen area, a TV zone with a sofa bed and a bathroom. On the first floor there’s a romantic master bedroom with a four posts bed, wooden floor and visible beams. Casa Margherita has an independent entrance and a private terrace.
Girasole and Camelia
A stone arch is the entrance for both flats. On the ground floor of both flats there is a kitchen area, a TV, a sofa bed and a gracious bathroom. The night area is a beautiful loft which reminds of an old hayloft. The games of colours makes each flat unique and will take the guests to a far away world made of subtle nuances and old remembrances.
Casetta del papà
A warm and welcoming flat has been built from an old chestnut dryer: on the first floor there’s a wooden loft for the night while on the ground floor you’ll find a kitchenette, a TV area, a sofa bed and a dining room; a large and bright bathroom with shower completes the flat.

By car
Where are we? - How to reach us.

By car.
Take the A12 Parma / La Spezia until the exit “ Aulla”. Then, go towards Fivizzano, before getting there take the right exit and follow the signs for Gassano and/or Equi Terme. 500 mt after Gassano but before the junction for Equi terme, take the small road up the hill at left. Keep on for 1500 metres to the hamlet of La Casala. Whoever chooses not to take the motorway can explore the lunigianese territory by taking the secondary road n° 62 Cisa (Parma- Sarzana) to Aulla. From there go towards Fivizzano as explained above. Coming from Reggio Emilia, go through the pass of Ceretto on the secondary road n° 63 of Ceretto (Reggio Emilia- Aulla) on which you’ll find the junction for Gassano/ Equi Terme . Then follow the indications above.


By train
By train.
Get on at the station of Parma and /or La Spezia on the Pontremolese line up to the station of Aulla. From there get the train towards Lucca which links Lunigiana with Garfagnana and stops at the station of Gragnola.
