Farm House Casale Il Caggio - Ciggiano, Civitella in Val di Chiana

This is a very underestimated. The host were excellent. Nothing was a problem. Food was excellent.

Wonderful 11 day visit. Beautiful farm, fun animals and great location for visiting Tuscan towns. Outstanding food. We had an apartment with a kitchen which allowed us to eat a big midday meal in towns we visited and have breakfast and light supper in our rooms. Groceries available in Monte San Sovino, but plan to have some meals at Casale. Gabriella is a fabulous cook. Car absolutely required.

This was a lovely place to relax in between visits to the hill towns of Tuscany. The dinners were excellent made even better by the fresh ingredients right from the farm. Quiet and peaceful, few visitors, great views and a swimming pool. Perfect!

We just returned from our trip which included a wonderful stay at Casale Il Caggio! Paolo & Gabriella have created a wonderful little oasis of relaxation. The location is a bit remote, but when you sleep at night there is not one bit of "urban noise" to be heard. Do not neglect to take advantage of the fabulous dinners Gabriella will cook for you in the evening. We could return from our sightseeing, rest briefly and then eat the very best food of our entire trip!! In short, the rooms are simple, but very nice. You cannot miss noticing the little objects placed so carefully & artistically in unexpected places. The bed was very comfortable & storage plentiful. The grounds are lovely; flowers and cozy seating areas everywhere. Last, but not least, you are welcomed by the two family dogs, Tommy & Lala, both very sweet natured and well behaved! We loved our stay & would highly recommend Il Caggio to others. You do, however, need to be aware that the location is a little remote. The distance is not great, but you will drive for a short distance on a gravel road and there is nothing nearby in the immediate vicinity. We loved the quiet break from the frenetic pace of Rome! We will remember our time there for a long while, always with a smile!

What an absolutely wonderful stay we had a Casale Il Caggio! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel as if we were staying with dear friends or family. This might not be for everyone, but walking through the incredible kitchen and well-appointed living room up to our room, we were regularly treated to the homemade cakes, tortes and more that were available every morning. This 'agriturismo' is not far from the A1 (10 minutes or so), but it is hard to find - both on GPS and because there are no signs. Perhaps it is because the hosts want to keep it secluded and quiet ... but once you are there you will be treated beautifully. We had dinner one night of our two night stay and only regret we did not eat there both evenings. The pool is large enough for good swimming - and there is a beautiful jacuzzi. Though perfect for a mature couple, there were many travelers with children who felt right at home.

We returned to Casale il Caggio for the second year and found it to be exactly as we remembered: a quiet secluded location with spacious grounds and well distributed chairs to sit and relax in peace. Excellent swimming pool, long enough to be able to swim properly! table tennis under the trees and marvellous food with superb hosts.
