Inn Agriturismo La Canonica - Certaldo

Wonderfull farm and hotel, lovely people. Room was really nice, clean and comfortable. Realy realy great.

A beautiful, secluded ranch with clean, spacious accomodation. Good size swimming pool (not heated) + paddling pool. Our part of 18 stayed at La Canonica for my daughter's wedding in nearby Certaldo. Room sizes varied, with some having beds in mezzanine areas (hot) but my own appartment was VAST and we were more than happy with the accomodation, helpful staff, and grounds. I would have no hesitation in returnng to La Canonica. Small points to note for other travellers reading this review: 1) see the VENERE location map for the correct location- as Google maps shows the wrong location 2) La Canonica is in a virtually mobile phone 'dead area' with little or no reception. 3) A car is essential. At 3.6km outside Certaldo, and steep hilly roads, you will not want to walk to Certaldo in 30 degrees ... For all that, if you have a car, go see the medaeval town of Certaldo Alto ; get the train to nearby Siena (stunning) ; or just relax at the wonderful La Canonica.

Beautiful domicile in delightful surrounding. The only minor issue is the local road passing the property with medium traffic. Overall a recommendable place to spend couple of days in the Tuscany area!

We enjoyed staying at the Agriturismo La Canonica very much. The rooms are very nice, the food is excellent and the surroundings beautiful. We can definitely recommend it and would love to come back.

A wonderful agriturismo in the middle of Tuscany where you can cook yourself and enjoy the view of the countryside at a reasonable price

We decided to spend our vacation at La Canonica, because the prices seemed fair and the evaluations of others were very high. We can only come to the same conclusion. Important: a car is neccessary since the hotel is outside Certaldo and a taxi costs € 15,- from the station to the hotel... The train rides are cheap though. The only thing that did not satisfy me completely were the noise of the few cars that pass by on the road. That is maybe 'cause the Italians are fast and loud drivers :-). The staff were very very nice and warm to everyone and the restaurant + the once a week special event with food, drinks and desert incl. are awesome! Nice place especially for families. Swimming and horse-riding are fun!

A very pleasant holiday in a real apartment with a rather spacious kitchen and a very large swimming pool. Some traffic noise from the road and some holidaymakers unable to go to bed at a reasonable time!

Tolle Umgebung, sehr gepflegte Anlage mit freundlichem Personal, ein klasse Restaurant, besonders der Barbeque - Abend ist zu empfehlen! Für Reitfreunde wird ebenfalls viel geboten. Auch einen Ausflug ins mittelalterliche Certaldo Alto sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen.

A nice property in a pleasant if uninspiring setting. The lack of directions to the property is appalling. Not everyone has GPS! (You need to look for major traffic lights on the northern outskirts of Certaldo and then follow signs for Montespertoli - the property is about 3 miles out of the town on the right hand side.) I feel that the lack of presence of staff on Sunday and Monday is not acceptable at this price. (We locked ourselves out of one of our rooms at night and had to wait over an hour for someone to come to let us back in.) Rooms are large and well apointed but cooking facilities are a bit basic - a microwave and toaster would have been useful. Fine for a short stay but if you planned to self cater for a fortnight could be a bit awkward. Nice restaurant but bit pricey and property is out of town so no easy access to other restaurants unless driving. Well placed for trips to Florence, Siena and San Gimignano but Certaldo itself has nothing of note to offer. Overall would say a good base to explore central Tuscany but not particularly good value for money.

Can not find the hotel by GPS, just follow the one reviewer's instruction.

I never stayed at the agriturismo place. I was not sure what to expect. What I found was just fantastic. Large, airy apartment overlooking Mediterranean landscape, on site gourmet restaurant serving local food, horses, lavender, sounds of chirping birds... the list goes on. I highly recommend this place to anyone that loves country leaving with touch of elegancy.

Mooie agirturismo gelegen in de heuvels rond Certaldo. Mooie tuin met groot zwembad. Appartementen zijn groot met keuken en zitbank. Wel jammer dat er geen ontbijt verzorgd wordt. Het restaurant is ook uitstekend. Aanradar de bistecca di Fiorentina!

Our stay at La Canonica was incredible. After having a terrible time finding the place and arriving at 10:30pm, Antonio was still waiting for us, and the restaurant was also still open to feed us. If you stay here you have to eat at the restaurant - WOW is all I have to say. Just get good directions, very small signs and google maps is useless. We have already recommended this place to 2 groups of friends. The location is very central in Tuscany. The Wed market in Certaldo is fun and great to pick up some food to cook up in the room. The room was beautiful and huge. The grounds are gorgeous, Antonio was great, and the price can't be beat. If you are coming from Poggibonsi, take a right at the last street light in Certaldo. Then at the T-intersection go left and then follow the windy street for 5 minutes and LaCanonica will be on your right hand side. The street signs say the wrong name so call up ahead and get good directions! But it's worth the search...what an incredible place!!!

Wir waren zum ersten Mal auf La Canonica, aber wir kennen die Gegend. Dennoch ist das Finden der Adresse nicht einfach. Die Beschreibung ist irreführend, da es einen Ort Canonica gibt, dieser ist aber genau entgegengesetzt vom Agriturismo. Sinnvoller Hinweis wäre, Fahrt bis Certaldo, weiter Richtung Empoli, bei der letzten Ampel in Certaldo befinden zwei Hinweisschilder zum agriturismo La Canonica, sonst nirgends. Ortshinweis lautet Montespertoli. Alles andere ist irreführend. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt, der Aufenthalt war wunderbar angenehm. Das Wetter erforderte im Appartment die Heizung, die ausgezeichnet funktionierte. Leider konnte die herrliche Terrasse durch die vielen Regenstunden fast nicht genützt werden.

This was the best over all vacation my wife and i have taken. The owner Antonio, his sister Della and the rest of the staff were absolutly wonderful. The resturrant was first class, the location was great (less then an hour to Firenza and Siena, about 1.25 hrs to Pisa and 2 hours to Assisi). Alot of smaller Tuscany towns within 30 minutes. Will recommend this Farm House to every one.

Beautiful surroundings and lovely accommodation with an excellent restaurant and a very nice host. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay very much.the rooms were comfortable and spacious for the two of us and the grounds were were very picturesque with many beautiful horses on view.It was an excellant base for getting around the area and seeing places such as Florence ,Sienna,Pisa etc, etc.The only problem we did have was in locating La Canonica,possibly a bit more detailed directions required as you enter Cetaldo would be helpful.Other than that my wife and I would have no hesitation in the Agriturismo properties again.

We were happy with everything except the lack of staff. The restaurant meal was superb and the service excellent. However, on the day of leaving, the maid turned up at 9.30am expecting to clean the rooms. We were still packing up and we felt very rushed as we didn't expect to leave the room until 10am. I am disabled and it takes more time for me to get ready. When we did leave the room there was no one aroung to pay. There was no member of official staff at all in the complex - only the maid and gardener. The office notice claimed that there was someone in reception until 11am. The cleaner had demanded our key so when we decided to leave, without having seen anyone and waiting in the courtyard for two hours, we couldn't get out of the complex. We drove around and sat outside the gate sounding our horn until someone from the stables came and opened a private side gate for us to leave by. We still haven't received an invoice!!! We were angry and disappointed by this episode. Also, I thought it very unsettling that children were playing in and around the pool, if something happened to them, then there would be no one around to offer help or summon emergency help if the need arose. I couldn't comprehend how the guests were left alone in the complex with no official member of staff around. Nor did we see anyone in the two hours that we waited. Obviously, because they had our credit card number then they would have taken the money from that, but even that was annoying as we didn't want to use that particular card to pay. We wanted to pay cash!!! This matter should be dealt with as it spoilt what had been a very nice stay.
