El Geco Verde is a family-run eco hotel close to the natural parks of Castril and Cazorla. The hotel boasts a tranquil and unspoilt location in open countryside with spectacular views all around.Most of the year, relaxing and dining takes place on the hotel´s spectacular outdoor terrace, shaded by a mighty Spanish Oak tree. Here you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside which, on a clear day, stretch for more than 150km to the Sierra Nevada of Granada. On the terrace, loungers are provided for those who wish to soak up the sun and between the end of May and the end of September guests can cool off in a 24sqm splash spool.In addition to the spacious and comfortable rooms, clients may also enjoy the hotel´s cosy living room with its unusual double aspect fireplace, leather sofa, oak bookcase and antique rug; the perfect place to read or revive oneself on a cold winter´s day. This is also provided with a television and a DVD player. Books and DVDS in a variety of languages are available on loan from the family collection, primarily in Italian and English, with some Spanish examples also. The grand dining area is similarly inviting, benefiting from the heat of both the aforementioned fireplace and a large eco-friendly pellet burning stove, which also powers the central heating system. Outside of dining hours, these social spaces are perfect for playing table games, accessing the internet, poring over maps and planning activities or walking routes. The hotel offers a fixed daily menu (vegetarian option) of fresh homemade Spanish and Italian cuisine, for guests only and with prior reservation. The house has its own organic kitchen garden and produce is mainly sourced from here and from other organic farms in the local area. Though primarily a small “boutique” style hotel, El Geco Verde can also be hired in its entirety. As such it is suitable as a small conference or meeting venue, with six bedrooms and accommodation for up to 18 people.In terms of activities, there are many established walking routes in the nearby natural parks, amazing bird watching opportunities just on our doorstep, kayaking, canyoning, horse riding and stargazing are all avilable with prior booking.The Altiplano is not short of fascinating historical and cultural sites such as a Bronze age village, prehistoric museums and cave dwellings just to name a few. This stunning property generates its own power thanks to a large solar power installation and every effort has been made to ensure that impact on the environment is kept to a minimum through the use of renewable resources such as pellets for central heating and recycling of all waste materials and packaging.
