Poggio degli Olivi is a beautiful and relaxing farm house located in Bettona, on the outskirts of Assisi. In a quiet and secluded position, the hotel enjoys beautiful views of the Umbrian countryside.

An ancient 17th-century farm house, Agriturismo Poggio Degli Olivi features welcoming guest rooms as well as spacious apartments. Immersed in a peaceful and lush setting, typical to the Umbrian hills, guests will be able to relax by the outdoor swimming pool or play tennis to keep in shape during their stay.

The farm house also features a lovely nature trail in the woods where you can go for relaxing walks totally undisturbed.

Upon your arrival, friendly front-desk staff will provide all the information you may need: maps, sightseeing tours, and valuable advice on what to see and do in the surrounding area.

In the restaurant La Veranda, the Umbria gastronomy and the chef's creativity are perfectly combined to create delightful traditional and contemporary specialities. Aromas and flavours are harmonized: olive oil, salami, lentils, red potatoes and truffles.

On the first floor of the house is situated the new Osteria Di Vin Porcello, open on Friday and Saturday night. Here you can enjoy wonderful traditional Umbrian dishes with a different menu every evening.

We stayed here for 3 nights e enjoyed every moment. We absolutely loved this place. Our 8 yo daughter especially loved visiting e feeding the goats. Also visiting the pigs e Ugo the pony. The staff were very friendly e welcoming. The surroundings e views of Assisi, Spello, Perugia are amazing. It really was a great location! We will definitely come back here e make this our base next time we are in the area but stay for longer.

Apartment we had is very good for families or small groups of friends. Location is central to Umbrian tourist sites but a car is required to get around as the accommodation is quite isolated. Very good restaurant on-site.

we stayed at Poggio degli Olivi in a double room for five nights in mid-June. This upmarket Agriturismo sits in a large olive grove above the village of Passagio and produces its own olive oil as well as pork products from their herd of pigs. The surroundings are spectacular with beautiful views and a network of footpaths through the estate. There was a sunny private seating area outside our room; the weather was unseasonally hot and the air-conditioning was more than adequate, better than many italian hotels we have stayed in. The restaurant terrace overlooks the valley with Assisi in the distance, the food was first class and the more informal Osteria which was open at the weekend was equally good. Beware though:if you are not on half-board you need to give warning that you want to eat in the evening or you may find the restaurant is closed. There is a large pool with bar which unfortunately was not open at lunchtime when we wanted to use it, for reasons which were not clear to us: perhaps the management should be a bit more explicit about the hours. We shall certainly stay here again and would recommend it as a great base for exploring central Umbria and all it has to offer. However we would recommend the good-value half-board option as there are few alternative restaurants in the area and it was a nuisance to drive long distances after a day's sightseeing. A word of warning though. As the term Agritourismo and the pricing suggests this is a working farm with rooms rather than a conventional hotel and so there are limitations on the service, for example the reception area is manned only during certain hours and you have to check in before 7pm. We found the staff charming and helpful but Umbria is not Tuscany and some spoke limited english so you may need to make a little effort on occasions. Our faltering italian was enthusiastically received!

I stayed at Hotel Il Poggio degl Olivi 9-22-07 through 10-02-07.The entire experience was fantastic. It is a perfect location, as a home base to tour all of Umbria.I also visited Le Marche;Tuscany is very close, but I had been there recently. The service, accomodations, amenities, were the best. The restaurant served delicious, fresh, gourmet food.I would suggest having a car, in order to be able to tour the region comfortably. I would stay there again, of course.

We stayed at the Poggio degli olivi end august start september. It was a wonderful stay in a quied paradise. The hotel is located on top of the mountain, with a onbelievebel view. We did not take half board, but after the first meal we were pleasantly surprised. The kitchen was very good. In the evening from the dinning room a wounderful view over Assisi. The staff was competent. The singnalisation to find the hotel is very good, but I advise to do the road the first time during the day. Next trip to Umbria we will stay at this hotel again.

This hotel is in the countryside, in a beautiful location overlooking Umbria. It was delightful to open our window in the morning and breathe fresh air and hear the roosters crowing. However, we had one of the apartments for 5 days and did not know that it did not include dailing housekeeping (the website has now been changed to make it clear, due to our complaints). Although changing the sheets would have been nice, it was not as gross as being expected to use the same towels for 5 days. For two days, we had no hot water and had to take cold showers -- there were no instructions in the room how to turn it on. We ended up having to heat pots of water on the stove to wash with in the morning. We just got a shrug and a look like we were idiots from the staff for not knowing to push a tiny little red button with the tip of a pen to turn it on. Also, there are no dishwashing supplies such as soap and dish towels to clean the dishes. The dishes were dirty when we arrived and obviously had not been cleaned properly by the previous guest. The photographs in the website are deceiving and the rooms are no where near as nice as what is displayed. We did not take breakfast at the hotel,as we decided to buy our own groceries and eat in the room rather than pay the 8 euros per day per person, so cannot comment on it. Once we got used to the idea of using dirty towels and got the hot working as best as it could (still not great in the end as it only heated enough water for one shower at a time) the place was okay -- due simply to the location in the countryside. I don't think I would stay here again -- at least NOT in one of the apartments!

The hotel was one of my favorites on our two-week vacation. The hotel is a working olive farm high on a hilltop in Umbria, very central to Assisi, Perugia, and other towns of interest. The scenery was beautiful, the rooms/bathrooms were very spacious and it was very quiet at night. The hotel's restaurant was great. The only things of concern was that the directions on the hotel website and the directions from MapQuest got us lost (we had to get directions from some very nice non-English speaking Italians, which was interesting). I would call the hotel to confirm which exit to take off the highway. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We were very happy to find such a nice place to stay, quiet, luxurious, a great pool and all of that for a price to be very OK. If something could be improved, sorry to say it,this would be the breakfast. Meinhardt Keller, Vienna

I made the mistake of arriving in the Assisi area after dark which turned out to be a mistake. The B&B is situated in the foothills below Bettona, and in daylight is extremely easy to find as you can get bearings from Assisi and Bettona. However in the dark, it proved very frustrating criss-crossing country roads for a couple of hours. We arrived about 10pm after the official restaurant closing time, but the staff couldn't have been nicer and our late meal was superb. The accommodation is good, in rooms set in small blocks adjacent to the main house. Breakfast is on a balcony with the same superb view across the plain as the restaurant. The swimming pool is spacious, with a small bar and shower/toilet block outside. All-in-all, I can't speak highly enough of this B&B/Hotel - a lovely place in gorgeous surroundings with very friendly and professional staff.
