It is a nice hotel. The location is good and only ten minutes to the old town on foot. Breakfast is very good.

we needed a dentist the first day - and got very efficient & friendly help at the desk. The hotel is at the border of being called "in the center of town", but everything in Porto is easily accessable by foot. Lots of galleries around the hotel, young atmosphere... and an excellent bed, 2x2 m for lots of fun... marble in the bathroom :)

It is not so near to the centre but you can reach it in 15 min. walking and it is a pleasure. It has a private parking at 10€/day very comfortable.

Excellent Hotel, a little bit understaff at the reception, there were too many guests and therefore the waiting time at the desk was a little too long. Otherwise the hotel is excellent.

Very competent staff and accommodating. The location first seemed a little far from most of attractions but once you know the area, it's very convenient to walk from it.
Spain, Jan 2009
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly even though they would undoubtedly have preferred to be celebrating New Year. Breakfast was very good ( not included in the price ) the main problem is the location in what for the moment is a rather seedy area, within working distance if you are in reasonably good condition and are not worried about the dirtier sides to Porto.

This was a fantastic hotel. Free internet (via ethernet cable) as well as wifi in public areas. Helpful staff, all with good English. Car park not free of charge, but various areas around the hotel where one could park a car. Nice, clean, modern hotel. Highly recommended.

Hotel totalmente renovado.

A very nice hotel at an excellent price. Everything was clean, modern, comfortable; the only problem was that from our window we could hear dogs barking and at every dawn roosters. Location is also good - a nice and interesting walk has you downtown in 10-15 minutes, and from there everything in Porto is easily accessible. I would definetly choose this hotel again (though perhaps ask for room away from the residential section with the dogs and fowl).

I selected to book a room for a single person and got a spacious room with a nice twin bed (pushed together). The room could be turned into a suite - there was a door (locked) that provided access to the adjoining room. Through that door, I could hear the people in the next room but fortunately they were not too noisy and I kept the volume down on my TV too, out of courtesy. I traveled with 2 other people who got a separate room of their own which was perfectly quiet (no door linking to another room). Big bathrooms - provided most things except for shower cap. Views from the windows are not great but we didn't sit in our rooms all day. Free internet access from one shared computer in the hall - first come, first served basis. Overall, great value, new, clean and well-located hotel with helpful staff. I would recommend it to others and stay there again if I am in Oporto.

We were given a room in what is an annex to the main building, which is probably older. The room decoration was very nice and modern. The hotel is located just around the corner from a street full of hip art galleries (hence the name) and within walking distance from the historic center of Porto. It has private parking but expect to pay extra for it. Breakfast was not included in the hotel rate.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel, and found little to criticize. However, the views from the room were somewhat disappointing (old flats with washing hanging on balconies!)Perhaps you could emphasize that guests should not expect any views from this hotel. Having said that, we found the hotel conveniently situated for the old town, and for the waterfront. Staff were very friendly and helpful. You should emphasize that breakfast is the only meal available, other than limited room service (breakfast was very good). More comfortable seating in the bar area would be an advantage. 2 very good restaurants near to the hotel were Uma Rosa (1km - portuguese) and Artemisia (300 metres - international). All in all a very good and well located hotel - would definitely stay there again. Whether the fault was with Venere or the hotel, there was no record of my "special requests" to mark our anniversary - however, when the receptionist became aware, we returned to the room to find a complimentary bottle of cava and fresh fruit. Much appreciated, and indicative of the excellent staff/ client awareness.

Very good hotel, particulary for the price which offered excellent value. One issue was that the hotel policy does not allow the loan of an iron to guests. This apparently is because of a guest nearly burning the place down before. This is the wrong response to this occurance. It is an international norm that you must be able to use an iron.

Like other Eurostar hotels, Das Artes is strikingly contemporary. The rooms are nicely appointed, and the bathrooms sparkle, but the service is not quite up to Eurostar standards. Our stay was marred by a number of easily correctible flaws. We were forced to stay in a smoking room our first night. The beautiful room smelled like a stable. We had to keep the window open, and the street noise kept us up all night. In fairness, when we complained the next morning, we were given a new, non-smoking room, though we had to do the moving. Other irritations were that the lobby bar was never open. The phone service did not permit us an outside line, while we were there. We had to use a phone at a neighboring gas station. And, the breakfast service suffered from a lack of staffing. Hot items like eggs were not replenished frequently enough. The location is excellent. It is right next to the Roman aquaduct. It is, however, an uphill climb to the center of the city and most restaurants. So, the location may not be ideal for travelers with physical limitations. We were a littel disappointed with Des Artes compared to other Eurostar hotels, but we would be willing to give it a second chance.

A pleasant, moderm, well furnished hotel convenient for the city centre. We enjoyed our stay and our only comments would be: - that by Porto standards it is not particularly good value for money (we have stayed in hotels of similar quality in other European cities for the same cost, yet Portugal is generaly considered to be one of the cheaper countries). - the rooms are nicely decorated but the lighting makes it really difficult to read in bed.

Nice looking hotel, modern and well located. Off street parking facility is good and price for parking is reasonable. Had a nice stay there. Gripes: Why only one computer with internet access for all those guests? Why charge 10 euro per guest for breakfast when most Portuguese hotels fold it into the room rate and you can get a great continental breakfast with fresh squeezed OJ for 6 euros for two people at the coffee shop 20 meters up the street?

Porto is an amazing city and Eurostars Das Artes is a beautiful hotel! The rooms are modern and spacious, there is free internet in the lounge, a great bar/patio and a VERY tasty breakfast. I found that booking ahead of time online was far more affordable than booking at the hotel. We had to extend our stay by one night and the price went up by 20 euros, compared with the price we had paid booking online! I would go back to Eurostars if visiting Porto again and I am interested in checking out other Eurostars hotels when travelling to Europe.

We stayed in Porto only for two days. Main landmarks are at walking distance from the hotel, situated in a typical and vivid road. The hotel seems to be new or newly refurbished, and is very refined, indeed. The relationship between price/quality is the best. Just one negative point: we paid 10 euros/day for the parking place, but the management anyway claims not to be responsible for any damage to the car in the park (in fact we found a little scratch on the back of our car, but no insurance was active); therefore it's better to leave the car in the street...

The hotel is very good. It is a walk to anywhere in this town but we enjoyed the walk. I would suggest the bus from the airport as it goes through parts of the city you wouldn’t see otherwise and remember to get off at the hospital. The breakfast is good and worth the expense (if it is a Sunday). We travel abroad about once a month and we recommend this hotel, if you don’t mind walking. Go to a few Port houses!!

Hotel is a brand-new building in the pretty-old and ruined city center of Porto. It provides whatever one can expect from an easy stay in a city tour; clean and quiet rooms, close to the main attractions, friendly staff and cheap (70-80€ per night). It is an excellent value-for-money offer. I’d definitely go back to Porto for a long weekend and stay in this hotel again.

we stayed 5 nights on the 4th floor.chose this hotel because of the excellent reviews and we were well pleased.be warned porto is very hilly but taxis are reasonable.tram 18 departs every 30 minutes from outside the hospital at the end of the street.change at the tram depot to the no 1.single trip 1.35 euros valid for an hour or maybe 2.porto was spectular.enjoyed very much the funicular, trams and museum, heron island ,the ferry across the douro and the boat trip under the magnificent bridges.spent lots of time chilling out in the riverside bars so didnt make the port lodges.receptionist gave us 2 great restaurant recommendations .sorry cant remember them.for a slightly more upmarket meal try the restaurant :irene jardine:.only open a month but fabulous.irene personally prepared and served her homemade chocolate cake .gorgeous.thanks to ryanair we will be going again.ps what a fantastic airport.

Except the room was very cold when we arrived, everything was ok especially for the price we paid! More signs for the direction in the town could be helpfull (we turned around the hotel during 15mn before to find it! and the light outside was out of order!). We found at the reception, (it was late at night) a charming guy who tried to speak french (he did it well!).we spent 3 very good nights there! Very good value

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel for a weekend getaway, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Best Euro breakfast we have had yet, great quality and plentiful hot and cold food replenished continuously. Our reception was friendly, efficient and very helpful/informative even at midnight (thanks to Ryan Air.) Our double bed was two singles made separately and pushed together (both nights, despite our needs being obvious after the first night.) Rooms were spacious clean and great onsuites. Maybe it was just our adjoining rooms, but sound carried easily from next door. The hotel was very tastefully presented (being in the art district) and is only a 10-15 min walk thru the old centre (World Heritage Protected Site) to the river, and the port cellars. Easy to get to on both the night and day busses from the airport, but use the metro if its running. I think the hotel cat just wants to be left alone, it will only warn you once!

I'd booked a single but was given a twin with queen sized beds, so I'm biased. It's a little remote from the tourist sites (about 10-15 mins walk) and Porto has some pretty steep hills, but it's not a big problem if you're used to a bit of walking. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Overall an excellent hotel that I definitely recommend.

The hotel is modern and "funky" but the rooms are not particularly functional for people staying longer than one night (e.g. inadequate drawer space). We had to change rooms after the first night for this reason and found that there were other problems in both rooms (in the first, the TV only had a few channels, in the second, the phone would not call out). While some of the staff was helpful, several others were not.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. A bit challenging to find in rush hour traffic, but finding anything in Portugal is a challenge because many streets are not marked, or are one-way. Room and bathroom impeccably clean and large by European standards. Did not eat at hotel, there are lots of restaurants close by for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Hotel staff extremely helpful, suggested good restaurants. My only complaint was that they would not provide an iron and ironing board - not because they did not have them, but because a customer the previous week had almost started a fire and they are now penalizing all future customers because of one careless person. This is the third time and thrid country we have used venere.com, and will use this service again on our next trip.
