exterior At Forio d'Ischia, immersed in some seven hectares of pine grove and one of the finest and fully intact oases of Mediterranean maquis, just a paces from the enchanting villa that once belonged to Luchino Visconti, there stands the Mezzatorre Resort&Spa, which, situated at the tip of a promontory dropping steeply into the sea, enjoys a unique and privileged position on the island, surrounded by an atmosphere of magic and rarefied tranquility.

An ancient tower dating to the16th century, used by the local population as protection against the assaults of Saracen pirates and later become the property of Baron Fassini, constitutes the central core of the hotel, while new constructions - blending with the style of the Tower,and discreetly hidden amid the green - are distributed in a splendid park of pines and holm-oaks. The common spaces, restored in full respect of their original appearance, are comfortable and have a friendly, welcoming air.

The hotel offers numerous services. Many of these are comprised in the price, including a shuttle service by boat to and from Ischia harbour, two private bays, a private heliport in the hotel grounds, an open-air swimming pool (always heated), tennis court, gymnasium, piano bar, porterage, satellite TV and a round-the-clock telephone switchboard with call service in the morning.

There are also many extra services on request, including windsurfing and diving, tours of the island in motor boat, bus or the island's typical microtaxi, excursions to Naples, Pompei, Capri, Positano and Sorrento in motor boat or taxi with expert guides. Small domestic animals may be brought on request. We can also organize for you transport to and from Rome or Naples airport.

The Island of Ischia is situated in the Gulf of Naples, just a short hop from Capri. It consists of six municipalities: Ischia, Casamicciola Terme, Lacco Ameno, Forio, Barano, and Serrara Fontana.The hotel is located between Forio and Lacco Ameno, the centre of the latter being only 1500 m away. This part of the island with its clearly Mediterranean architecture, embellished by numerous cupolas and towers, is a favourite haunt of artists of every kind.

The rooms in the park, recently constructed in a style to blend with the tower, are all provided with a private terrace and represent a well-nigh ideal environment for anyone wishing to be in close contact with nature.

Rooms Sea Park
The sea park rooms are situated in the immediate vicinity of the tower, each with its own private terrace, from which you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Gulf of Naples and the Island of Procida.

Rooms Upper Tower
All the rooms in the tower look out over the sea. Though less spacious than the rooms in the park, they are greatly requested on account of the fascination and romantic atmosphere characteristic of the epoch of their construction. They also have the advantage of being directly linked with the Health & Beauty Centre and the internal thermal baths.

Rooms Tower Suites
The finely furnished tower suites enjoy a fine view over the sea and have a Jacuzzi hydromasssage tub in the bathroom. They all have a divan bed in the drawing room and can therefore accommodate a third person.

Rooms Junior Park Suites
For those who want the comfort of a suite and yet remain in close contact with nature there are the Junior Park suites. They all enjoy a fine view of the sea and three of them also have a private garden and a Jacuzzi minipool.

Ischia is connected to the mainland by an efficient sea transport system.If you want to reach the island by ferryboat, the trip from Naples lasts about two and a half hours, but the hydrofoil service is much faster
