Vulcano belongs to the Aeolian archipelago, measure 21 kms and is situated in the Southern area of the main island of Lipari.
The island is formed by the aggregation of three small mountains and volcanos: at the South the Aria mountain, an extinct volcano, at the centre the Gran Cratere or Fossa Grande or Cono di Vulcano mountain, still in activity with volcanic manifestation represented by several fumaroles, and at the North the smallest and lower Vulcanello.

Das Hotel Orsa Maggiore hat unsere Erwartungen durchaus erfüllt. Eine fehlende Strassenbeleuchtung auf Vulcano kann nachts ängstliche Leute auf dem Weg zum und vom Hotel etwas verunsichern.
