One of most splendid and beautiful places to see is the Hotel Groslot in the Place de l’Etape. This 19th century red bricked building still retains its fine interiors from the period. If this is your idea of heaven there are plenty more renaissance townhouses to see, such as the Hotel Cabu which houses the Orlèans city museum, the original town hall and the Masion Jean Dailbert.

Orlèans also features several open air squares, such as Place du Chatelet, again lined with magnificent town houses, some dating back to the 16th century, and the historic Place du Martroi which contains a 19th century statue of Joan of Arc.
