- No welcome drink even though they promised to provode one with the room. - Nobody waited us at the airport even though the hotel limousine was pre-arranged several days in advance !!! For a 5 star hotel this a serious drwaback. - Good and cheaper transport alternatives abound at the airport but you have to do your homework and serach, ask, etc. - very good location in the center of Old City. Efficient tram network just across the street. Rooms ok, nice, big, but noisy - the morning payer made us wake every morning at 6 a.m. !! Only earplugs helped. Istanbul is absolutely fabulous! Friendly people but beware of too many services offered at a price and surcharges for tourist at every corner. However, if you take care, everythings should be fine - just remember to say No.

The first room they gave me was on the street side and the noise all night was terrible. They moved me the following morning, the first room was quite a bit lower than what I reserved and the second was not any better. They finally gave me the same level room as reserved as I refused to settle. Breakfast was included in our rate and was fine except they started closing everything down at 9:45 and breadfast ended at 10:00 and they even cleared the table as we sat there. There are no English speaking people except for reception and even getting coffee was difficult. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

From Ataturk International Airport: Leaving the airport, take a left after the 1st set of traffic lights and turn right onto the E-5 to Bakirkoy-Aksaray. After 6 miles/10 km, take the exit called Aksaray - Sultanahmet. Passing the old city walls, go straight to Sultanahmet way and then make a u-turn in front of the Grand Bazaar. The Crowne Plaza Old City Hotel is on the right hand side.
