The location was near RER go great way to get there from airport.(about 10 min. walk) Neighborhood seemed safe and near places to eat. The price was reasonaable for Paris.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. We were worried that its location would be noisy at night, but we found our three night stay to be quiet and relaxing, even though the action of Rue Mouffetard was just a street away. The hotel staff were more than helpful and gracious. Allowing us to check in early on the morning we arrived after an overnight flight was much appreciated on our part. We would definitely return.

Good hotel. Only stayed one night (that is all we were in Paris, unfortunately). Good location and nice staff. Room was pretty small, even by Paris standards, but for a short stay - not a major problem.

First trip to Paris so we have nothing to compare it to but it was clean if small and well priced for our budget trip Really liked the surrounding area with places to eat and some interesting shops. Easy to get into the centre of Paris as it was just a couple of stops on the metro. Hotel was a little hard to find at first but nothing major. Disconcerting that there was never anyone at the reception when you came into the hotel, always had to wait. American friend said the hotel Internet access was very poor, but who goes to Paris to use the Internet. Would stay here again for the right price.

).Metro' molto vicina. Zona vivace e allegra. Se ritornassi: proverei un altro hotel.

We went to Paris on our way to Italy and this was a great place to get some rest after our flight. The staff at the hotel did everything possible to get us into our rooms early and when we got in, the rooms were comfortable and clean. This is a nice area with easy access to the metro and lots of nice restaurants.

This hotel was perfect for the one night we stayed there. The staff were very helpful and spoke very good english. Room was lovely and clean and quiet at night. The Cardinal Rive Gauche was my third hotel during a 10 day stay in Paris and was by far the best one. The staff was nice, specially the morning guy with glasses (I forgot his name!), he even offered me a cup of coffe when I told him I was not feeling well. My room was spacious enough for one person, and even there were renovation works being done and there was a scaffolding outside my window and men working early in the morning, it didn't bother me as they were soundproof windows. Location was also excellent; the Jardin du Luxembourg is within walking distance and you can easily get to the main tourist attractions as there is a metro station nearby. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!!!

The hotel was more than expected. The room was very clean and not as small as described. The bathroom was small but clean and comfortable. The people from the hotel were very nice and helpful and fluent in English. The hotel is 5 minutes from a metro station (Les Gobelins). Quiet neighborhood. Would recommend for everybody who want to spend a nice romantic weekend in Paris or why not a whole week. Nice pastry house near by and couple of restaurants (Indian food).

Excellent location. Very close to Marche des Mouftard, an excellent market, shopping street with great restaurants. Not at all touristy, very authentic parisien. I highly recommend staying in this area. I also suggest you skip the breakfast at the hotel (over priced) and eat in the market at one of the cafes or bakeries. Lots of selection with much better food at a much better price.

The Cardinal Rive Gauche is located inmidst the 5ème arrondissement of Paris, and this alone would make the stay interesting enough: you have dozens of the best restaurants and bistrots nearby, the famous rue Mouffetard, and all Paris is reachable within a few moments by métro. The Cardinal Rive Gauche offered a warm welcome, provided brochures that informed about current cultural events as well as newest magazines, and even the renovation works on the back fassade didn't impair the sojourn.

A last minute break in Paris, and we're very happy with the hotel in terms of price, location, cleanliness and friendly service. With Rue Mouffetarde down the road there were plenty of eating and drinking options, but the hotel is in a quite street which was great, with a nice nightcap bar on the corner. Recommended

This hotel is ideally located near ATMs, an amazing bakery, cafe, and a rue that has open markets, clothing stores, grocery (european style) stores. It is also close to a metro and RER stop. Bang for the buck I thought it was excellent. The rooms were definitely european size, but it was a very charming hotel. I will be staying there again.

I was very excited to find this hotel in the location but found a hotel right across the road called L'Esperance that was alot cheaper with the exact facilities. The day staff at Rive Gauche were very "c'est la vie" and really couldn't care much about you. I was travelling with my 13 year old son on my own and was ill and could not even get a cup of tea from them, as it was only for the breakfast clients. The hotel was still having renovations done with workmen crashing and banging around on the outside of our rooms which meant we had to have our curtains and windows closed all the time we were there. The area around the hotel closes for eating around 10.30pm which is quite early for Paris but the local bar at the end of the street stays open till 3.00am. The room smelt a little musty, old mould and smoke but otherwise was very clean and of good size for Paris. When coming to Paris again I would look for something else in the same area, which is great, like across the road before I had to stay at Le Cardinal Rive Gauche again especially for its price range. Overall score of 3.

The street and area in Paris was excellent. There are lovely cafes and markets with great food to eat in very close proximity. It is also close to major tourist spots and easily accessible to transport. However, the rooms were extremely small; we had two rooms and one smelt terribly of cigarette smoke. The staff were helpful but not very friendly. I think it was expensive for what was on offer and would stay in the same area again but not the same hotel.

I have stayed in a lot of mid priced hotels and B & B's in Europe over a period of 25 years. The Cardinal I would rate at the very top in terms of value for money, cleanliness and location. If you want better than what they offer you will need to pay twice the price somewhere else. Space is limited in Paris, some hotels use this as an excuse to offer rubbish accommodation at high prices. Not the Cardinal Hotel - they were great. Excellent bathrooms, double glazing, the Mouffetard at the end of the street, with dozens of restaurant choices, Metro stations right there, and friendly staff. Very highly recommended.

We spent four nights at this hotel which is located in a lovely area of Paris close to an excellent food market. The room was adequate in size (but very small bathroom) with comfortable beds and cable TV including CNN. The exterior and lobby were undergoing renovation but this did not disturb us. The male desk clerk was friendly and helpful but the female clerk was much less interested, especially when the internet broke down. At 4 euro for 15 minutes it was also very expensive. Hotel Esperance down the road let us use their intenet for free (when we explained). We didn't have the Hotel Cardinal breakfast, at 12 euro overpriced, but ate at nearby cafes. We really enjoyed the quiet area which was quiet but close to the Rue Mouffetard market.

It was great to follow the front desk recomendation of walking along Rue Mouffetard. This street has still old houses, that survived Haussmann´s redevelopment. It is one of the oldest neighbohoods of Paris, with a street market that is there since the Middle Ages.

This hotel was better than expected. Our room was large (from previous experience)very modern, very well appointed and extremely clean. We had a room with 2 windows overlooking the street with window boxes containing flowering geraniums - fabulous! Staff were very friendly and helpful, even lending me a needle and thread to sew a button back on my blouse. Lobby and dining area a little small and we had our breakfast outside the hotel. A little bit of a walk to the heart of Paris but through some beautiful local French streets. Would definately use this hotel again and would recommend it to friends.

Cleanliness was our first priority and we were not disappointed. All receptionists were very friendly. Very small room, but that was not a problem as we used the room only for sleeping and as home base between all our visiting. Well located not too far from the Metro ("Les Gobelins" stop, about 2 blocks away). Would book again.

Excellent experience. Hotel is on Rue Pascal, which is a short, one-way side street with very little traffic. We were in room 212 which is on the back side of the hotel looking into what was once a courtyard. So it was VERY quiet !!!! Room was a decent size (not as small as some we had stayed in during our 15 days in France). We did not partake of the petit dejeuner at the Cardinal so can't comment on it's quality or value. We did feel it was expensive at 12 Euros per person. We had to have breakfast outside as my wife is diabetic and she had to have protein at breakfast. There were lots of places close by to do so. For an excellent evening meal be sure to dine at the La Forge which is only about 40 metres down the street. Also, many fine restaurants and shops on Rue Mouffetard which is very close by. Hotel staff were very helpful with directions when I had to return rental car; booking transportation to airport; restaurant advice; etc.; etc. Our room did not have a mini-bar which would have come in handy. But the staff offered to keep anything cold or frozen for us. The A/C was efficient and quiet. The free wireless internet worked flawlessly. We wouldn't hesitate recommending this hotel and will defineitely stay here if we ever return to Paris. Our rates, in Euros, for our 6 nights were: 105, 105. 105, 95, 145, 145. The last 2 nights were for Sept 1 & 2, 2008 when their busy season started again.

The only negative thing about this hotel are the beds. They are very soft and lumpy providing no back support. Other than that, very clean, spacious rooms in comparison to other hotels, good price/quality ratio, good location with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Only a 5-10 minute walk to the metro which can then take you anywhere in Paris. Walking distance to the Pantheon, Luxemberg castle and Notre Dame. Highly recommended

This is my second stay this year at the hotel and I have been happy my choice. I like the location as it is close to markets, bakeries and the Metro, line 7 takes you to most attractions in central Paris. I found the staff to be very pleasant, helpful and accommodating . The breakfast of 13 euros is a bit steep but if you go to a local cafe and have a second cup of cafe creme it is almost the same price.I think convience would be a deciding factor to stay breakfast not the cost.

A very happy 10 day stay here. Don't let the Comfort Hotel name put you off as it is a small hotel and personal. Room spacious for Paris and a nice bathroom. Quiet street and yet only metres from dozens of cafes, bars, bakeries, general stores - everything you could want. Less than 5 minutes to two metro stations in different directions. This metro line was great in that it took you to two large stations for changing/connecting to other lines. Also a short walk through Jardin des Plantes to Gare Austerlitz for the RER train. I went all over Paris by metro and RER. Very close to Rue Mouffetard and all the food stalls and many, many cafes further up and in the side streets. Staff were very helpful and spoke English. I would definitely stay there again as it is a great area without being noisy. Highly recommended.

Really good little hotel for a weekend in Paris. The location was perfect to be out of the City but close enough to be able to stroll in. Also there was a good selection of restuarants & bars close by so you could stay local of an evening. Breakfast were offered but at 12 euros it was expensive. However it was easy enough to get breakfast locally in the Cafe`s so no problem.. I would and will recommend this Hotel and hope to use it again next year.

Our stay started excellently with the offer of a prestige room, Not sure why. Perhaps because we had booked through a site that requests reviews. The room was large with a good sized ensuite boasting bath, excellent shower and hairdryer. The room has a television that worked well. We did not take breakfast. The reception was well informed and professional although they could not sort the safe box that was not working. The hotel is very close to Moufftard with its exciting shops, dancing in the street on Sunday and music on every street corner on Saturday. This was because it was Midsummer night. The music could be heard in the room but it was not intrusive. The hotel is a walk from the Pantheon and a walk from the metro so ideally situated. For us the hotel was perfect. I don’t know what the non prestige rooms are like. Probably not as big but we were lucky and had a wonderful break in this exciting city

We were in Paris for a oong weekend. we did not want to spend time or money inside a hotel room. This place was great. Easy to get to from the airport, clean, quiet, great location - the street market round the corner is brilliant - good for the Metro and reasonable priced. If you want to spend double the money on a flash hotel then go ahead but I'll stay here again.

Overall was very satisfied with the Hotel and the staff were as helpful as they could be given the language barriers. My room was spacious enough for one and the only hotel that offered me a bath which was used daily.

Overall very clean - better then you can expect from a Paris hotel in this price range. The location is somewhat distant from the key attractions, but the area itself is very nice and not 'touristic'.

Very nice hotel at Quartier Latin. Two blocks from metro station, very near Rue du Monge, a nice street that finishes at Bl Saint German. Nice surroundings to walk and discover. Air conditioning working fine, nice bath and shower, very good bed. Elevator. Front desk people spoke english and were very nice. We learned from them at venere and recomend them. We would stay again without blinking.

Very clen, helpful staff, rooms were small, but we were there to see Paris, and didn't spend time in the hotel but to sleep.

After many stays in Paris, usually Rive Gauche, I was very pleasantly surprised by the excellent room condition, the clean and unmarred halls and carpets, the air conditioning, and (for Paris) the comfortable room size. Beds were comfortable also. Located at the top of Rue Moufftard, easy access to one metro line. Not really close to RER, walk to Place St Michel in 20-25 minutes. Airport shuttle for departure is best bet, not outrageous and very on time. Overall, the price and quality were a solid find and I will return.

We were greeted by a nonworking elevator and a very hostile manager/owner who barked at us for wanting to have our luggage brought up. He told us to return in an hour. Elevator still not working. When we asked for change of a 50 euro bill, the desk attendant claimed to have none (never heard of that before). Desk attendant also was annoyed at us when he called a taxi that did not arrive after 20 minutes and we said we would just walk.

The market street - Mouffetard - was SO lovely. Just a couple of blocks away. Internet access at the corner copy shop very reasonable. Breakfast and lunch at 'salle a manger' (on mouffetard - no sign but right near the church at the beginning of the street) was divine. Use the metro station Les Gobelins - it's the closest and easiest. What a great trip. And Ramon, at the front desk, a pure charm.

minibar not working and empty. Room a bit small, but in a good and quiet area. Close to the 5th arrondissement, Notre-Dame, etc.. ideal for a romantic stay in Paris at reasonnable price.

When I arrived, they offered me to go to another hotel which is in front of Cardinal Rive Gauche. I decided to stay in Cardinal and there was no problem. The only bad comment I can say is that having advised them that I was going to arrive at 9,30h I hadn't my room prepared until 11,30h. This fact made wonder around the "quartier", which is incredible, especially Rue Mouffetard. In close proximity you can find a market, lots of shops, restaurants... everything you expect. It's a different Paris, but it's as nice as anything you can find in that wonderful city. My room was lovely: extremely clean, recently renovated, and over all: QUIET. It dind't face the street, though it is a very quiet street anyway. The first time is a bit tricky to find, but let yourself guide you by the church near Censier Daubeton metro station. Wonderful stay! I will repeat!

Please! Don't tell anyone about this fine hotel! The staff was really pleasant and helpful (I speak French, so that helps, but they were very courteous to all the guests and most helpful.) The only two things I commented on were (1) the location of the computer, crammed into a corner, with no space, and the slowness of the internet, but the receptionist said he was aware of the cramped quarters, and that they were going to move it to a more convenient and comfortable spot. Apparently, the hotel is rather new; and (2) the breakfast, which was great, but it would be nice if they would serve whole grain cereal, or muesli. Corn flakes are ok, but something more wholesome would be nice. The petit déj was pretty darn good, though. I won't give my room number away because it was the quietest room I have ever had in Paris. (Except for the sparrows chirping ever so happily every morning!) The location is par excellence. One couldn't ask for more.

AN excellent hotel, one I will definitely recommend and stay in again. Rooms were big, clean, and had modern bathrooms with a good shower. Staff were extremely friendly and the hotel is located at the bottom of the wonderful Rue Mouffetard. I lived in Paris for a year and the 5th arrondissement is definitely the nicest to stay in.

The hotel was exactly what we expected. It's a good and unexpensive comfy (what means small in Paris) room in Rice Gauche. The price was indeed very good for Paris and the hotel is comfy enough to provide you with some quality rest. The room is not dirty, but could be more clean. We thought that in the first nights our room was not properly cleaned, but the cleanliness improved from the third day on. The only problem we had with the hotel was the misterious absence of towels in the second night, but the problem was immediately solved by the front desk (at 10 pm). The area is not bad and there are two metro stations nearby, but perhaps because of the wheather, it was not very cheerful. That means you whether have to walk or take the metro to find some life. You may walk to the Blvd. St. Michel to see some life but it's a nice walk and you can take the Rue Mouffetard (20 minutes at least). And then, once you are there it's a short walk to Ile-de-la-Cite or St. Germain-de-Pres (a very nice area. If you can pay more, stay there!).

Very nice hotel at a reasonable price. The location is good and near the latin quarter. Enjoyed my stay and could stay there again. The only disadvantage is the "continental" breakfast, which contains just the very basic items, is overpriced and is served at 3-4 tables next to the reception, however it is optional so you can skip it.

In an interesting location - restaurants, churches, best icecream shop in Paris! Very close to public transport. Hotel was very pleassant but breakfast an extra and not really worth the money especially with local patsisseries close by. I will stay here again. Was a little awkward to find on arrival.

No problems at all - good location which meant no need for taxis. Room small but clean. Nice & quiet on 3rd floor towards end of corridor (no. 303). Lift/Stairs to all rooms. Recommend taking a 5 min walk around as there's 2 metro stations nearby (only found second the day we were leaving) - gives you more options when you're trying to get back from somewhere else in the city. Ask for a 'carnet' at the metro which is a book of 10 tickets slightly discounted. Saves a lot of hassle, especially as some station entrances don't have ticket kiosks and the machines only take coins! Getting there: On south side so assume handy for Orly airport. No problem from CDG as you get the train to Gare Du Nord (get carnet here) then get the metro to Gare D'Lest and then straight on to Les Gobeilns. Hassle free! The Bars in the squares usually have happy hours around 6-8 - cocktails are then cheaper then most beers/drinks...can be much better value in an expensive (but brilliant) city.

Good middle class hotel at a nice location. Rooms are small, but cosy. Some of the rooms need a repaint. Breakfast is typical french. At 8 euro's you might prefer to take it somewhere else. Be sure to take a walk through the very parisien rue Mouffetard.

The Cardinal was just about perfect. Clean, quite, and not terribly small rooms. Location was a big plus. We took the RER from CDG airport and walked with luggage to hotel, about 15 minutes. Get a map that shows rue Pascal before you leave home. It helps. Easy to walk anywhere or take the Metro. Good food and gift shops very close. Try the Petit Bistro and/or the Crete on rue Moufetard (just down the street from the fountain). Enjoy your stay, I know you will!!!

We stayed three nights in Paris and found this hotel to be fairly well situated in the Latin Quarter with a metro stop a 5 minute walk away at Les Gobelins. The restaurant two or three doors down from the hotel is excellent and not touristy and the little bar across the road is quite good as well. Nice little street market near the church (as is the laundromat). Paris Metro makes getting around really easy and inexpensive.

I stayed in a single room and my stay there was great. The staff was helpful and my room was immaculate. There are many brasseries and cafes in the neighborhood. The hotel has easy access to the subway and is about a 20 minute walk from the Louvre and other sites in the central area of Paris. I will happily stay at this hotel again.

Fantastic hotel, especially for the price. The location is absolutely fantastic- Rue Mouffetard in particular, but also the proximity to Notre Dame and the Seine to catch the boat to other sites. This hotel is also very well located in terms of public transport. We took the RER directly from the airport to Port Royal which was a 10 minute walk away. The Les Gobelins metro stop is also extremely close. The room itself was lovely, not massive but with all the amentities including a nice and clean bathroom, bar fridge, lovely window overlooking the street. The only downside was that the bathroom did not have a shower curtain so the whole room got wet when we showered! I woudl definitely stay here again.
