Good hotel overall (higher ** or lower ***) Nice and spatious rooms. Tiny bathroom but comfortable. No noise overall except doors banging in the morning when people started leaving their rooms. 5-10 min away from several convenient metro stations and close to the Rue Mouffetard where you can eat well for 5-15€. In walking distance to the Pantheon and Notre-Dame.

The hotel is very clean and very quiet, the beds are very comfortable, and a nice size tv. The room is quite small, but is ok, compared to other Parisien hotels of the same category. Nice location. The only down side - no towel hangers.

Lovely hotel. Would definitely stay there again. Great location - very near metro stations, and lots of restuarants, cafes, supermarkets, and yet was in a quiet street. Rooms looked recently refurbished - modern and very clean. Free room safe, wifi and the ability to leave our cases on the day of departure were all a bonus.

There were constructions being made between 8-17. When we complained about that to one of the staff members (a receptionist with a moustach) he did not even apologize, just said "c'est comme ca". In addition, there was a tax of 2 euros per day that was added to our bill the possiblity of which was mentioned in the small letters of the web pages only. When we tried to understand the reason for this addition, the receptionist (same guy with moustach) was extremely rude and abnoxious about it. Nevertheless, nice hotel in a marvelous location.

Close to the Mouffetard street. Close to the Metro station. Well situated. Very quiet. We had a very nice stay. Good price for an hotel in the center of Paris. We had a big room not on the street side. Very pleased. We'll go back there. The only thing the breakfast is expensive : 14 euros so we didn't have the breakfast at the hoteL. They were nice to keep our luggage the day we left the hotel until the end of the afternoon so we could visit the town.

Overall this is a very nice hotel (considering the price range.) We had only one issue, but since it impacted the quality of our stay it merits mention. There is a pub directly across the street which, on weekends, stays open to 3:00 AM. Sleep is impossible if your room faces that pub. The hotel conveniently neglected to mention that to us. We were exhausted the next morning as a result. Then we had to really press to get moved. It should have been automatic. Nice people, but not very pro-active. We won't return as result.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. We were worried that its location would be noisy at night, but we found our three night stay to be quiet and relaxing, even though the action of Rue Mouffetard was just a street away. The hotel staff were more than helpful and gracious. Allowing us to check in early on the morning we arrived after an overnight flight was much appreciated on our part. We would definitely return.

First trip to Paris so we have nothing to compare it to but it was clean if small and well priced for our budget trip Really liked the surrounding area with places to eat and some interesting shops. Easy to get into the centre of Paris as it was just a couple of stops on the metro. Hotel was a little hard to find at first but nothing major. Disconcerting that there was never anyone at the reception when you came into the hotel, always had to wait. American friend said the hotel Internet access was very poor, but who goes to Paris to use the Internet. Would stay here again for the right price.

).Metro' molto vicina. Zona vivace e allegra. Se ritornassi: proverei un altro hotel.

The Cardinal Rive Gauche was my third hotel during a 10 day stay in Paris and was by far the best one. The staff was nice, specially the morning guy with glasses (I forgot his name!), he even offered me a cup of coffe when I told him I was not feeling well. My room was spacious enough for one person, and even there were renovation works being done and there was a scaffolding outside my window and men working early in the morning, it didn't bother me as they were soundproof windows. Location was also excellent; the Jardin du Luxembourg is within walking distance and you can easily get to the main tourist attractions as there is a metro station nearby. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!!!

The hotel was more than expected. The room was very clean and not as small as described. The bathroom was small but clean and comfortable. The people from the hotel were very nice and helpful and fluent in English. The hotel is 5 minutes from a metro station (Les Gobelins). Quiet neighborhood. Would recommend for everybody who want to spend a nice romantic weekend in Paris or why not a whole week. Nice pastry house near by and couple of restaurants (Indian food).

Excellent location. Very close to Marche des Mouftard, an excellent market, shopping street with great restaurants. Not at all touristy, very authentic parisien. I highly recommend staying in this area. I also suggest you skip the breakfast at the hotel (over priced) and eat in the market at one of the cafes or bakeries. Lots of selection with much better food at a much better price.

The Cardinal Rive Gauche is located inmidst the 5ème arrondissement of Paris, and this alone would make the stay interesting enough: you have dozens of the best restaurants and bistrots nearby, the famous rue Mouffetard, and all Paris is reachable within a few moments by métro. The Cardinal Rive Gauche offered a warm welcome, provided brochures that informed about current cultural events as well as newest magazines, and even the renovation works on the back fassade didn't impair the sojourn.

This hotel is ideally located near ATMs, an amazing bakery, cafe, and a rue that has open markets, clothing stores, grocery (european style) stores. It is also close to a metro and RER stop. I was very excited to find this hotel in the location but found a hotel right across the road called L'Esperance that was alot cheaper with the exact facilities. The day staff at Rive Gauche were very "c'est la vie" and really couldn't care much about you. I was travelling with my 13 year old son on my own and was ill and could not even get a cup of tea from them, as it was only for the breakfast clients. The hotel was still having renovations done with workmen crashing and banging around on the outside of our rooms which meant we had to have our curtains and windows closed all the time we were there. The area around the hotel closes for eating around 10.30pm which is quite early for Paris but the local bar at the end of the street stays open till 3.00am. The room smelt a little musty, old mould and smoke but otherwise was very clean and of good size for Paris. When coming to Paris again I would look for something else in the same area, which is great, like across the road before I had to stay at Le Cardinal Rive Gauche again especially for its price range. Overall score of 3.

The street and area in Paris was excellent. There are lovely cafes and markets with great food to eat in very close proximity. It is also close to major tourist spots and easily accessible to transport. However, the rooms were extremely small; we had two rooms and one smelt terribly of cigarette smoke. The staff were helpful but not very friendly. I think it was expensive for what was on offer and would stay in the same area again but not the same hotel.

I have stayed in a lot of mid priced hotels and B & B's in Europe over a period of 25 years. The Cardinal I would rate at the very top in terms of value for money, cleanliness and location. If you want better than what they offer you will need to pay twice the price somewhere else. Space is limited in Paris, some hotels use this as an excuse to offer rubbish accommodation at high prices. Not the Cardinal Hotel - they were great. Excellent bathrooms, double glazing, the Mouffetard at the end of the street, with dozens of restaurant choices, Metro stations right there, and friendly staff. Very highly recommended.

We spent four nights at this hotel which is located in a lovely area of Paris close to an excellent food market. The room was adequate in size (but very small bathroom) with comfortable beds and cable TV including CNN. The exterior and lobby were undergoing renovation but this did not disturb us. The male desk clerk was friendly and helpful but the female clerk was much less interested, especially when the internet broke down. At 4 euro for 15 minutes it was also very expensive. Hotel Esperance down the road let us use their intenet for free (when we explained). We didn't have the Hotel Cardinal breakfast, at 12 euro overpriced, but ate at nearby cafes. We really enjoyed the quiet area which was quiet but close to the Rue Mouffetard market.

This hotel was better than expected. Our room was large (from previous experience)very modern, very well appointed and extremely clean. We had a room with 2 windows overlooking the street with window boxes containing flowering geraniums - fabulous! Staff were very friendly and helpful, even lending me a needle and thread to sew a button back on my blouse. Lobby and dining area a little small and we had our breakfast outside the hotel. A little bit of a walk to the heart of Paris but through some beautiful local French streets. Would definately use this hotel again and would recommend it to friends.

It was great to follow the front desk recomendation of walking along Rue Mouffetard. This street has still old houses, that survived Haussmann´s redevelopment. It is one of the oldest neighbohoods of Paris, with a street market that is there since the Middle Ages.

Excellent experience. Hotel is on Rue Pascal, which is a short, one-way side street with very little traffic. We were in room 212 which is on the back side of the hotel looking into what was once a courtyard. So it was VERY quiet !!!! Room was a decent size (not as small as some we had stayed in during our 15 days in France). We did not partake of the petit dejeuner at the Cardinal so can't comment on it's quality or value. We did feel it was expensive at 12 Euros per person. We had to have breakfast outside as my wife is diabetic and she had to have protein at breakfast. There were lots of places close by to do so. For an excellent evening meal be sure to dine at the La Forge which is only about 40 metres down the street. Also, many fine restaurants and shops on Rue Mouffetard which is very close by. Hotel staff were very helpful with directions when I had to return rental car; booking transportation to airport; restaurant advice; etc.; etc. Our room did not have a mini-bar which would have come in handy. But the staff offered to keep anything cold or frozen for us. The A/C was efficient and quiet. The free wireless internet worked flawlessly. We wouldn't hesitate recommending this hotel and will defineitely stay here if we ever return to Paris. Our rates, in Euros, for our 6 nights were: 105, 105. 105, 95, 145, 145. The last 2 nights were for Sept 1 & 2, 2008 when their busy season started again.

The only negative thing about this hotel are the beds. They are very soft and lumpy providing no back support. Other than that, very clean, spacious rooms in comparison to other hotels, good price/quality ratio, good location with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Only a 5-10 minute walk to the metro which can then take you anywhere in Paris. Walking distance to the Pantheon, Luxemberg castle and Notre Dame. Highly recommended

This is my second stay this year at the hotel and I have been happy my choice. I like the location as it is close to markets, bakeries and the Metro, line 7 takes you to most attractions in central Paris. I found the staff to be very pleasant, helpful and accommodating . The breakfast of 13 euros is a bit steep but if you go to a local cafe and have a second cup of cafe creme it is almost the same price.I think convience would be a deciding factor to stay breakfast not the cost.

A very happy 10 day stay here. Don't let the Comfort Hotel name put you off as it is a small hotel and personal. Room spacious for Paris and a nice bathroom. Quiet street and yet only metres from dozens of cafes, bars, bakeries, general stores - everything you could want. Less than 5 minutes to two metro stations in different directions. This metro line was great in that it took you to two large stations for changing/connecting to other lines. Also a short walk through Jardin des Plantes to Gare Austerlitz for the RER train. I went all over Paris by metro and RER. Very close to Rue Mouffetard and all the food stalls and many, many cafes further up and in the side streets. Staff were very helpful and spoke English. I would definitely stay there again as it is a great area without being noisy. Highly recommended.

Really good little hotel for a weekend in Paris. The location was perfect to be out of the City but close enough to be able to stroll in. Also there was a good selection of restuarants & bars close by so you could stay local of an evening. Breakfast were offered but at 12 euros it was expensive. However it was easy enough to get breakfast locally in the Cafe`s so no problem.. I would and will recommend this Hotel and hope to use it again next year.

During my entire stay through Europe. Rome, Venice, Paris and London this was by far the worst hotel. The service was HORRIBLE the horrible breakfast was 10 Euros...(coffee and bread) and did I say the staff was horrible? The location was miserable. Would never stay there again and would tell everyone else to stay AWAY!

The hotel was just as described. Staff were helpful and spoke English. Room was clean and of an adequate size, although we did not speend much time in it to be honest. It was situated at the back of the hotel and consequently very quiet. I would not hesitate in staying at the hotel again - it is very well situated near the rue mouffetard where there are lots of places to eat.

Our stay started excellently with the offer of a prestige room, Not sure why. Perhaps because we had booked through a site that requests reviews. The room was large with a good sized ensuite boasting bath, excellent shower and hairdryer. The room has a television that worked well. We did not take breakfast. The reception was well informed and professional although they could not sort the safe box that was not working. The hotel is very close to Moufftard with its exciting shops, dancing in the street on Sunday and music on every street corner on Saturday. This was because it was Midsummer night. The music could be heard in the room but it was not intrusive. The hotel is a walk from the Pantheon and a walk from the metro so ideally situated. For us the hotel was perfect. I don’t know what the non prestige rooms are like. Probably not as big but we were lucky and had a wonderful break in this exciting city

Breakfast is not included in the price and costs €14,00; if it were the price-quality rate would be higher. Anyway, in the immediate surroundings of the hotel there are several places serving a good breakfast at a reasonable price.

The hotel is good, the only thing who i don't like it are: The breakfast are not soo good and i find the price NOT included, the internet service is very expansive and using a bad browser. The room are not so big, but clean and quite.

I booked a room for me and for my two colleques in this hotel, because they are advertising "individual air conditioning in every room" in Venere site. There wasn't any air conditioning in any of these three rooms! We stayed only one night and it was not too warm, so it was not a big issue. Otherwise room was fine, big and clean. Breakfast was much too expensive, quality quite poor.

3rd trip to Paris, having stayed in hotels large and small. Prior to booking was wary - Comfort Inn? - but upon arrival realized my apprehension was unfounded. Great location, staff and room. Probably stay here on my next trip.

Hotel is directly opposite a music bar, so if you get a front room you'll have to wait until the music stops at midnight on a weekend to get to sleep. Rear rooms are OK apparently. No meal taken in the hotel, but there ar so many good eating and drinking places within easy walking distance.

We highly recommend this hotel for individuals or families touring Paris. This hotel is strategically well located in downtown Paris, close to public transportation, shops, eating facilities and other places of interest to tourist. Staff speak English, there is shuttle buses to and from the airport, rooms include full bathrooms, staff is very helpful, and the price for our double room was very reasonable. Hotel is in a great part of Paris. Metro is nearby but not sure why anyone would want to travel far from the hotel. Best neighbourhood in Paris with Mouffetard Street markets and cafes just around the corner (nb don't go to the markets on Monday they are not open!) and Notre Dame precinct just a short walk away. Hotel has typically small parisian rooms but overall it is a great and great value for money.

The hotel was nice and the staff were friendly BUT, the cleaner was vacuming at 9.30am on Sunday morning. Check out was not until 12pm so it was very annoying as we were constantly disturbed as more guests left the hotel. The location was good - we did a lot of walking.

In a pleasant part of the city and quiet as on a side road. Bars restaurants and shops quite at hand. Not too far from the Metro connection. Plenty of on street bicycle rentals available. Room functional and tidy with a good bathroom. air conditioning / heating available.

Tiny room with too much furniture. Some of staff was quite pleasant while others were surly and unhelpful. Still, a pretty good value for Paris and surroundings (Montparnasse) and access to public transportation were great.

Surprise 50th Brithday treat for my partner. Could not have chosen better. Location was excellent. Easy access from airport to hotel. Remember to purchase a batch of 10 metro tickets at the airport. Tip, first Sunday of each month most places of interest 'free entry'. Reception staff at the Comfort excellent giving you tips where to eat.

We were in Paris for a oong weekend. we did not want to spend time or money inside a hotel room. This place was great. Easy to get to from the airport, clean, quiet, great location - the street market round the corner is brilliant - good for the Metro and reasonable priced. If you want to spend double the money on a flash hotel then go ahead but I'll stay here again.

Overall was very satisfied with the Hotel and the staff were as helpful as they could be given the language barriers. My room was spacious enough for one and the only hotel that offered me a bath which was used daily.

Overall very clean - better then you can expect from a Paris hotel in this price range. The location is somewhat distant from the key attractions, but the area itself is very nice and not 'touristic'.

Very nice hotel at Quartier Latin. Two blocks from metro station, very near Rue du Monge, a nice street that finishes at Bl Saint German. Nice surroundings to walk and discover. Air conditioning working fine, nice bath and shower, very good bed. Elevator. Front desk people spoke english and were very nice. We learned from them at venere and recomend them. We would stay again without blinking.

After many stays in Paris, usually Rive Gauche, I was very pleasantly surprised by the excellent room condition, the clean and unmarred halls and carpets, the air conditioning, and (for Paris) the comfortable room size. Beds were comfortable also. Located at the top of Rue Moufftard, easy access to one metro line. Not really close to RER, walk to Place St Michel in 20-25 minutes. Airport shuttle for departure is best bet, not outrageous and very on time. Overall, the price and quality were a solid find and I will return.

We were greeted by a nonworking elevator and a very hostile manager/owner who barked at us for wanting to have our luggage brought up. He told us to return in an hour. Elevator still not working. When we asked for change of a 50 euro bill, the desk attendant claimed to have none (never heard of that before). Desk attendant also was annoyed at us when he called a taxi that did not arrive after 20 minutes and we said we would just walk.

The market street - Mouffetard - was SO lovely. Just a couple of blocks away. Internet access at the corner copy shop very reasonable. Breakfast and lunch at 'salle a manger' (on mouffetard - no sign but right near the church at the beginning of the street) was divine. Use the metro station Les Gobelins - it's the closest and easiest. What a great trip. And Ramon, at the front desk, a pure charm.
