Have stayed here before and always had an excellent stay. However on this occasion, as fed back on checkout, there were some small issues which marred our stay, and that you would not expect for the price paid. There was a cleaning issue in one of our parties rooms, where a soiled mug was left in the room - not one that the occupant of the room had used,? Also trying to understand how the breakfast works is very confusing -please management - take note - there were so many people in the restaurant complaining to each other about how confusing it was - and the staff seemed embarrassed by it. The staff, as always, were excellent and very polite, professional and helpful -especially in the restaurant when the toaster was taking ages. I know these seem small things, but I would rather give feedback in the hope improvements are made, than just not go back again. Stayed in standard room, however the first time we stayed was in a standard room, and it was a newly refurbished room and was very nice, however this time the room was in need of upgrading.

Great hotel and excellent Xmas party. Room was fantastic with a superb view of the bay. Bar prices are a bit steep and it was a bit noisy (from adjacent rooms)but overall would recommend if you want a good hotel in Scarborough.

A nice hotel, with nice facilities. Our room was nice but overlooked a flat roof skylight and blank wall which gave us no view whatsoever but this was not a major problem. Breakfast prices need looked at as they are very expensive and we chose not to eat there - £14 for a single cooked breakfast; I don't think so ! Overall very good and despite a confusion over parking prices which they resolved in my favour I would stay there again. The location is excellent.

Staff were very welcoming though friendliness on departure needs practice! Room was nice and clean. Walls very thin as we could hear the couple next door talking at 7.00am! and having the tv on loud! Never experienced this at any hotel stay before. As a couple we found the bed uncomfortable as it was two single beds pushed together. Parking was difficult as spaces limited. Spa facilities were very nice.

Our used wet bath towels were taken out of the bath and put out for us to use again, I did not realise until I had a bath and had no choice but to use them. I was disgusted with this hotel. Complaints are treated with contempt

Lovely hotel, good facilities, staff absolutely charming with the exception of one surly barman. Noisy neighbours, dealt with swiftly by night porter.

Beautiful room - big, clean, comfortable with huge bed, lovely sea view and balcony. Stunning. But let down by poor welcome and staff being process driven rather than customer focussed. Continental breakfast was poor for £10pp. Dinner was OK, but the tables were sticky (no table cloths in a 4*?) and avoid the chocolate brulee! It had tinned strawberries on the top rather than a brulee topping. But we were a captive audience as there is nowhere else to eat in a reasonable walking distance.

We enjoyed the stay. I felt let down by additional charge for cooked breakfast which wasn't as good as the continental. The bar had problems with cocktails Lack of ice crusher, disappointing. The spa was nice but temperature in steam was low , ambient temp was low and the aroma room was just cold. I thought fire and ice was included too which it wasn't. The stingy charge for a second towel in the spa is a let down and not really what you expect in the surroundings. Dinner was really good , the staff were helpful and friendly even when explaining the hotel extra charges. Loved the sea view from the third floor , though the window was struggling to hold the sea breeze. A drink in the lobby area in front of the woodburner was a warming treat

Don't stay in room 157 you have to crawl into the bath to put the plug in! Then you have to climb into the sloping rear of the bath the rest of the bath is in an alcove and unreachable. No bath mat so getting out is scary- especially if like me you're in your 60s. Also we don't eat breakfast so read papers and left room at 10.45. On the door was a bag with all the room items in - tea, towels milk etc in a bag saying 'we didn't disturb you' whilst what it meant was 'clean the room yourself'!! The noise in the night was terrible. I think we were next to a storage room and people were in and out and shouting and banging doors. Also outside our window workers were making noise from very early on. The room was nice, clean etc and the service (bar) was average. The barman seemed to wish he was somewhere else. But reception staff were friendly and helpful. Maybe would return but would need a different room.

The break at the hotel was great, but was spoilt by mindless vandalism to the whole row of cars parked outside the hotels, even more so when informed by police this was the third time this had occured. However we cannot fault the hotel and staff as up to this point we had thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent hotel, good rooms, good food, and relaxing surroundings, with helpful & courteous staff. The only downside we found was that parking can be a little awkward with most being on street disc parking (disc's provided free by hotel). This is mildly compensated by a loading area outside the hotel for alighting guests and luggage. Overall well recomended & a hotel I would gladly return to!

Excellent hotel,. Very busy on check in at 3pm, however, plenty of reception staff who were very efficient and friendly in offering a speedy check-in. Upgraded to a sea view room which was a pleasant surprise, unfortunately our room was very noisy as it was directly opposite the life shaft.

Having attended a Sunday lunch party at the hotel, my 6yr old son and I then stayed Sun & Mon night (October Half Term) in a seafront twin room, perfectly adequate for our needs as were the facilities. The wardrobe space was limited but unused by us in any event. My son was very excited by the pink/purple lighting in the bathroom which gave it a tranquil feel. The spa area and gym looked really good but I was only able to use the pool with my son being so young which is fair enough (Restricted times when children can use the pool which again is fair enough as there is plenty to do in Scarborough with children!) Majority of guests seemed to be on the older side which creates an air of calm but which also made me feel I had to keep telling my son to quieten down which is a shame when you're on holiday (and he wasn't particularly noisy - it just felt that way because everyone else seemed so quiet!) I paid £140 for the 2 nights on a room only basis which I admit is expensive. It would have been an additional £14.95pp(!) each day to include breakfast so we took our own breakfast items and enjoyed relaxing in our room instead (without the 15% surcharge for room service!) I would stay at the hotel again but would be able to make better use of the facilities if travelling with another adult. This is the first time I have used Venere.com. I found the site very helpful, especially as it provided the best online price!

The Crown Spa is the jewel in the crown of hotels in Scarborough. Both inside and out does not disappoint. The lounge area is contemporary and relaxing and the bedrooms are spacious, ours had a huge king sized bed where my Mam had her best nights sleep in years! My two daughters were thrilled with their four-poster and the pinky, mauve lights in the bathroom.Pool is on the small side but had lovely surroundings.Breakfast was plentiful, cereals toast, preserves, croissants, yoghurts ,etc as well as the cooked choice. We will definitely use the hotel again. The only downside is that it is quite a walk from the lift drop off for the elderly or those with walking difficulties.

This was a one night stay for a business trip, I booked a single room with breakfast for £52 which was excellent value, I didn't use the facailities available. Food was excellent and I enjoyed the stay, Parking wa on the road outside which was a little inconvenient but did not cause a problem.
