We stayed 1 night and the noise of the vibration of the air condition was nerve-wrecking. Upon request they told us all rooms have this problem and there's nothing they can do. If you need to sleep, don't go there.

Located 5 minutes away from one of the Cite entrances, the room was massive, well equipped and clean but the drains were very smelly and the fridge was so noisy we had to switch it off. The walls were thin enough to hear everything happening in our neighbors bathroom and the breakfast was overpriced and bad quality. We later found similarly priced b&b's inside the Cite walls; I'd would try somewhere else next time.

Excellent location for Carcassonne. Rooms are large and quite well equipped. Reception staff ranged from indifferent to friendly & helpful. Watch out for getting locked out of building between 12.00 & 15.00 and after 22.00

The big advantage to this hotel is its location -- you couldn't get much closer to the old city of Carcassonne without staying at one of the hotels within the walls; it's only a five-minute uphill walk into the town. We had a one-bedroom apartment with a sofa bed in the living room which met our needs. The decor is very basic and the whole facility feels a little bit like a youth hostel, but it was clean and if you are self-catering, the kitchenette is a plus. The breakfast was good value for money, but overall, compared to other places we've stayed in France, this hotel was quite pricy; I think I would check out the competition first if we were to return to Carcassonne, though I definitely wouldn't rule out staying here again.

Fantastic location, right at the foot of the old city, and an easy walk to the river. The rooms were very clean, spacious and ours even looked up at the old walls at night, wonderful all lit up. Definately stay again!

The Adonis hotel was sterile with no warmth to the welcome or in the hotel rooms or public areas. Facilities are kept to a bare minimum and there were no added extras in furnishing or personal. Breakfast was 0K and anyway we could find nowhere in town to buy an alternative. Lcation is good (near old cite) and we recommend the bike hire from the stall in front of the station, from, to ride along thr canal towpath.

The lady on reception was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The apartment could have been cleaner. The location is ideal for sightseeing etc. however returning after dark was a little intimidating.

Reception staff very friendly and efficient. Excellent location for fortified old town but 15min walk to centre of Carcassonne. Facilities basic but clean and modern. Would stay again.

This hotel is walking distance to the old cite. Taxi from the train station was less than 10 euro. Just remember the reception is closed between 12-3pm so arrange to arrive after 3pm.

We had a little trouble finding this accommodation but once we got over this, found the room quite comfortable and staff friendly and capable. Chose this because it was close to the Medieval city which was easy walking distance. Not having to find street parking when we used the car was great as the complex had its own undercover parking which we were happy to pay for.

Stayed in the middle of May, 2011. Very liked it. Very friendly staff, speaks good English. The hotel is right next to the Carsassone wall (old town). Our apartamnet had fridge, micrwave, and all thing for cooking. Inside hotel outdoor tables are very good for evening rest and a couple of coffee -)

In a word: brilliant. Spacious apartment, great location, reasonable breakfast, welcoming and helpful staff. Best value for money of the 4 hotels we have stayed in in France this trip.

Exccellet location, just a few steps from a pedestrian entrance to Carcassonne Castle. Only a few minutes walk from center of town, across the Old Bridge. Staff was very helpful, and appartment was very spacious except for bedroom. Only inconvenience, appartments are only accessible through staircases, there are no ramps, or elevators. We were there in winter so did not have a chance to test the rest of the facilities (swimming pool, etc).

Excellent location (in front of the walls). Bakery nearby. Nearby mini-market is closed in the morning (be prepared if you do not want to order the hotel breakfast). Order the parking in advance if you plan to arrive off reception hours (not only will you avoid problems with searching a place but will be able to avoid staircases - important if you have some luggage). Friendly staff. Spacey rooms. Good equipment (the only exception - lack of tea/coffee cups - perhaps an accident). Strongly recommended for a few days stop (we spent 2 nights).

Beautiful sorroundings under the old Carcassonne town. Minimal-poor room interiors highly reduce our general opinion of Le Barbacane. Good breakfast.

Too expensive for the amenities. French hotels tend to be really expensive for what you get. No comfortable chair to sit and read in. Very spacious by French standards. Great location.

Note: Make sure you bring you confirmation E-mail! We arrived Friday evening (just before 6pm) and the reception was closed (open 24 hours in summer season, but limited hours in winter, but stated open till 9pm Mon-Fri). The confirmation E-mail included the access code for the side door (about 10 meters left of reception) & the access code for wall safe where you could find your room No & key with remote for garage if required (This arrangement is quite well organised as long as you have your E-mail) If you are coming from the Airport, the bus will leave you outside the main entrance of the Cite, with these apartments on the far side, about 15 min walk (best walk around Cite) The apartment was clean & well equipped. Breakfast is available, but must be ordered the previous day. There is another entrance to the Cite on the same side as Residence (left out recpt, will reach open area with church, walkway to right side - Note as the Cite is on higher ground, will have some steep parts in & around Cite. There are several nice restaurants within the Cite and a couple a few outside a couple mins walk from Residence (and a nighclub) Would definitely recommend visiting Carcassonne, but would be better in Spring/Summer as some places were closed for winter also breeze can get quite cold.

The only drawback was that the main bedroom was on the second story, the toilet downstairs, and the stairs were steep and narrow. This was a bit of a nuisance if you need to go the the WC at night.
