I was very disappointed with my stay. I had booked the room based on internet pictures and reviews. For 150 euros including breakfast, I received a room that was barely big enough to hold the bed and desk. In fact, you couldn't walk around one side of the bed without banging into the desk. The decor was very plain. The room was very hot and stuffy when I first arrived, and after trying in vain to turn on the a/c or fan, had to ask the front desk to send up a maintenance person. I was informed that the hotel shuts off the a/c after the summer, so if I wanted fresh air, I had to open the window. However, the level of noise from the adjacent street, along with the roar of the rapids coursing through the canal below the window, made sleeping with the window open impossible. We had wanted to have an early dinner, but found the restaurant wasn't open until 7:30 pm. Finally, there was but one gentleman working at the front desk at 6 pm, which made for a longer than usual check-in process.

The rooms need to be renovated, the windows are too small, the bath room was not clean enogh and some items missing which should be standard, the light was broken, there was water on the ceilling, breakfast was horrible and therefore to expensive! We and our friends have been many times in this hotel but this year was the last time, we will go to another hotel in Verona or area of Verona.

The breakfast was not included because of a tiny sentence on your homepage which is very poorly translated into German and is barely understandable. We did not know this and had breakfast which was not very good, especially the service, and cost 28 euros, clearly too much for this kind of service. The toilet of our room was very dirty. We were located in a room to the back of the hotel where there was a construction site which generated loud noises.

The first room we were booked into had a problem with air conditioning (it wasnt working) and as it was 35 degrees, that was a problem. Luckily we were able to change rooms. The staff on recetion were poor - it was chaos downstairs - no taxis in sight, quesues at check in and check out - poor for a 4 star hotel

Leon d'Oro is a nice hotel but set in a very unpleasant area- dark tunnels to get in from town and from the railay station- addicts shooting up around the area and a generally threatening air about a rather derelict former industrial area.

This was our first trip to Verona and as a holiday destination it was terrific. We stayed for 4 nights and thought that the hotel itself was very good. Staff were friendly and efficient, the rooms (there were 3 couples in our party) were all large and comfortable and there was plenty to choose from the breakfast buffet. I read before our trip that a number of people had concerns with the pedestrian tunnel and for the first two days wondered what the fuss was all about. However on day 3 & 4 we did encounter discarded needles and a few people sleeping rough. No one caused us any bother though. We had booked to see the opera and the visit to the Arena was one of the highlights of our stay. We also took the train (hotel is only a 10 minute walk away) and visited Lake Garda, where we took the boat to Sermione - wonderful place. The journey takes less than than 15 minutes. We also took the train to Venice, just over the hour by express, and this was a fabulous day out. If you can, take the express rather than the Regional train which was a bit of a cattle truck. Other options are a train to Milan, which is easily doable, we just ran out of time. So, a great place to visit with good connections to other places to visit. I would recommend it to anyone. PS One word of warning regarding the bath. They have a narrow design and no bathmat. My wife had a very nasty fall and it was pure luck that no serious damage was done. Take care!!

The room was sparse- no need for a running machine. The room was freezing on arrival and took 24 hrs to warm up after switching the AC off. I had to sleep with slippers on the 1st night because there was no blanket to use. There was no soap or TV remote in the room. The reception area smelt of BO - not the bar area. The breakfast was disappointing so we ate out the second morning. The bar service was ok and the minibus into town for the evening worked well.

After booking into deluxe room and ending up with a room smaller than our friends who just had a standard one - we were not happy. Obviously we had to complain. As there were nothing available but suites for the four nights we were staying that is what we ended up with. So from that point of view we cannot complain. Thou I must say that the rooms were quite tired and they need redecorating desparately. Also cleaners kept forgetting to service our room in the evenings and leave some simple things like shower cap. Could do with more supervising. We felt that the staff downstairs was very helpful. Young man at the bar kept us well fed with nice canapes before going to opera. Breakfast was excellent. We visited Verona for enjoyment of the beautiful opera only Verona can offer in the open air. We saw two, our friends three. We stayed for four nights.

We were attending the opera 'La Boheme' at the roman Arena only staying a single night. We had difficulty locating the hotel as the map was low on detail. It may be that the expected clientele would have been driving, while we attempted to find it on foot from the railway station thinking a 1km walk would be just right. That was a mistake as we walked for over an hour in several directions before getting the right location. The situation of the hotel is not at all scenic (just off major road) but the hotel itself is well presented and has an attractive facade. I was surprised by the amount of corridor noise from the bathroom, but the bedroom was quiet enough.

Good experience except for the sauna, which should have been functioning- as said when we reserved- but that, in fact, was not. For this reason we weren't able to enjoy fully our stay. The menu at the restaurant was excellent but a little poor was the choice for a vegetarian.

I like the hotel. While it was a 15 minute walk to the center of the old town, I like to walk so that was no problem. My first night there, it was very rainy and it was impossible to get a taxi so I ate in the hotel dining room. It was such a pleasant surprise. Fantastic food. I would suggest ordering what's on the menu rather the the all inclusiv. The cheeses were fantastic and the tiramisu can never be equaled. There were no umbrellas offered at the hotel and after a few inquiries, Elena, one of the front desk people, got hers and let me use it to walk to town. I would recommend the hotel, especially if you like to walk.

Excellent hotel with elegant, luxurios atmosphere and friendly staff. The hotel surrounding ist not very pleasent as it lies close to the railwaystation and clothest to a 8 lane motorway. On the otehr hand, that means convenient access by public and private tansport and you can easy and quick stroll to town by foot. The parking costs 15€ a day in the hotelowned parking garage..... more than the wholesome and luxurious breakfast...

The price is too high for the room and for the service we had to get. We had to pay for the breakfast 10 ero, it's really funny once you charge 176 ero per night, the room we got is very very small for the price, we also pay 25 ero per person for dinner before opera, the food level was poor for the price, and in addition you charge 10 ero for parking. we have a feeling that you forgot that we paid 176 ero, any additional charge is un fair. we spend 3 nights in Florence at 4 stars hotel in the center of the city and we paid much less and we got much much more then yours. we have been in Verona before, but we will never ever be with your hotel. Rather formal atmosphere. Clean comfortable and spacious room (deluxe), but very poor soundproofing from next room resulting in disturbance from TV and conversation. Helpful staff. Breakfast extra and expensive for what was offered. Dismal surroundings. Pedestrian access via an underpass used as a public toilet; also could be dangerous at night. This would deter me from using again. Mini bus to centre on opera nights but demand for this was high so quicker to walk.

The hotel, the room, everything is close to perfect. We found one minus: if you like to walk, you have to go through a passage close to the hotel which is less pleasant -to say the least. Some locals use this passage for other purposes, and it is not renovated too often. No alternative due to heavy traffic. This may not be the responsibility of the hotel, but you have to cope with it (or use taxi). Except for this detail: excellent.

Although it doean't look like that on the map, the hotel is at a long walking distance from the city centre and the route is not too pleasant either. They over charge you for the parking lot. There is only one computer with internet access i the lobby and it was out of service. The rooms have not been renovates for at least two decates.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in this hotel. The price compared to other hotels in its class was remarkable considering what you got. The rooms where cleaned spotlessly every day and where spacious enough with a very nice bathroom. The reception areas and lounge etc where very grand. The restaurant looked very nice although we prefered to walk into the town which took about 15 minutes. The only problem is that when you walk you have to go across the main roads for the first few minutes, this is probably the reason why it is cheaper....but who cares about a road when the hotel is this nice!!

Overall the hotel was of excellent quality with a beautiful breakfast (not included in price however) but I was very disappointed with the location. In the description it stated that it was in the heart of the city but it was outside the city walls at the side of the motorway. The arena was about a 15 minute walk which brought you initally through a long pedestrian tunnel beside the motorway which you wouldn't want to walk through at night so we had to get a taxi back in the evening. Also we were arriving by car and it was very difficult to see how you could get into the hotel because of it's location beside the motorway.

This was a very good hotel, but we found it extremely hard to find! We were driving and it took us perhaps an extra hour to locate the hotel - busy one-way streets added to the difficulty. We saw some signs for the hotel, but these didn't help at all! The location of the hotel wasn't as bad as we first thought. It is right next to a very busy road, but the sound-proofing was excellent, and the walk to the old Verona town was only 10 minutes.

They did not leave any information in the room about the ammenities of the hotel, so we never knew if we were missing something. This would be a great place for a business person to stay, but not quite so good for someone looking to vacation in Verona, due to the distance from town.

We were very satisfied with the hotel and impressed by the price. When we arrived, I thought that i had misread the quote! Really nice hotel, in the luxurious side. The location is a bit dodgy, close to the autostrada but it is walkable to the city. I am sure it is better in spring. We were there in December so it was raining a lot and the 15 min walk was not very pleasant. Good deal. There is also free internet access in the lobby.

I spent a lot of time looking for accomodation in Verona and chose this hotel because of its supposed central location and the fact that it was four star. On arrival i was initially disappointed by the standard of the room as it was small and dingy and not what i expect of a four star hotel. I was then dissapointed to find how far from the centre of Verona the hotel actually was. As I went in October time the walk was too far in the rain and i found myself spening more money on taxis into and out of the centre in the evenings. This was annoying as the cost of the hotel was expensive as it was. On a positive note the bar in the hotel was comfortable and the staff were friendly.

Hotel is nice but staff were not so nice. We asked what time brekfast was and were told but weren't told that the breakfast room was in the basementso thought it must be in dining room. There is no sign on the door into breakfast room. After spending sometime finding breakfast room we got there at 10.30 when breakfast is due to finish and staff were not very polite just said no we have finished even though food was still out. Were told by doorman that there wasn't any extra charge for parking but had to pay 35 euro for parking which is a lot as we were customers. Didn't feel like staff thought we belonged there. It is an expensive hotel but we were on honeymoon and felt like staying in a good quality hotel but didn't feel very welcome and would not go back or recommend it to a friend.

Considering it was located on the side of the highway for a couple not drving it was a very nice hotel with nice staff and nice interior however it lacked the "italian warmth" we felt from the city. It was your typical large hotel that can be found anywhere in the world. Also the walk home in the evenings was much farther then originally thought. Considering the price we have paid, the quality was poor. In addition, they were unable to provide 2 twin beds. There was construction going on in the hotel, therefore it looked unpleasant. The lift from the parking lot was not working and we had to walk uphill for 5 minutes with our luggages at two in the morning. Will probably not stay in that hotel, considering price vs. what you are offered. Thanks.

It was a long walk into town, especially since once you get there, you walk all day long. The hotel is located near an industrial area outside of the center of town. We thought it was very chintzy that they charged for parking and breakfast... this is the first hotel I have encountered in 9 trips to Italy that charged for breakfast ...$10 per person per day. I would not stay there again.

A plush hotel, clean and pleasing to the eye on the inside, the staff spoke reasonable english. Watch out for the prices on the room service menu, they were slightly higher than quoted although there may have been a service charge I wasn't aware of.

The hotel was beautiful, the rooms were comfortable and spacious and the staff were extremely welcoming. I'll definitely stay again on my next visit to Verona.

The hotel, location and facilities were more than expected. But the service was beyond expectations. I had left a coat at the last hotel stayed and when I explained my upset, the young lady at the desk immediately took over and made calls to the hotel, arranged for the delivery of the coat...all with great efficiency and charm. I would highly recommend the hotel...but hope that the directions for those coming by train would find it more easily than we did.

The location of the hotel is near the train station and one of the main roads leading into Verona. Therefore the hotel has good accessibility, but not much of a view. There is quite a bit of noise due to traffic (in rooms facing the road). When you keep the windows closed this isn't a problem. Also, you can here noise from other rooms. Apart from this I think it's an excellent hotel and I highly recommend it

Internet promised that breakfasts are included, so, that was dissapointment when they were not. And car park was too expensive.

The Hotel is only five minutes walk from the train station, and 15 minutes walk from the centre of Verona, so if you're walking it's ideal, the area is not the prettiest in Verona but was not that bad either. All in all I would use again.

Main gripe was that the website did not give any indication of whether the price of the room included breakfast. In fact, breakfast was extra, which we did not discover until checking out. Also, the surroundings were poor eg. near to railway lines/related noise, and that the area was generally run down. Despite the foregoing, the hotel itself was excellent, as was cleanliness and service.

The only problem is the welcoming in hotel. Staff do not smile at all and they seems to not know how the reservation is and who made the reservation

The Leon D'Oro Hotel in Verona represents excellent value for money. The hotel itself is spacious, luxurious and well located to the centre of town (about 10 minutes walk)with a fantastic Italian marble entrance hall, a feature which is reflected throughout the hotel even down to the bathroom fittings. Service is generally welcoming and the Reception and Bar staff are extremely helpful. My only reservation regards the quality of the hotel restaurant. Whilst the service was impeccable and the presentation superb, the actual dishes served did not reflect the rather misleading menu descriptions and were, at best, rather bland. This is entirely at odds with the luxurious surroundings and the general very high standards of service.

Outward appearance and communal/reception areas were excellent but rooms were basic in contrast. Provision of tea and coffee-making facilities in rooms would have been much appreciated, as would a bath in the on-suite. The bed was also a little hard. Generally a pleasant stay though. Convenient location.

Excellent hotel in good location. Could provide a better railway station link as it is vertually next block yet taxis are charging between 8 to 10 euro per trip. Bar drinks are expensive.

The hotel is not easily reachable without a car. Walking to or from either the train station Porta Nuova or the city centre means you have to cross an eight-lane major road. The breakfast buffet was a delight, by far the best I had in three weeks of traveling through France and Italy. However, on my third and final morning I had to leave early and asked for an alternate breakfast of some kind in my room. The staff did not appear to be accustomed to such a request. Finally they promised (in writing) to have something brought to my room... but nothing appeared. When I mentioned this upon my check-out the guy in reception didn't appear to be very interested in solving my problem: "Nobody told me about this". Until the moment I realised I wasn't going to get any breakfast at all before starting my 14-hour train-trip to Sicily I was rather pleased with my stay but this had me quite disappointed. Nevertheless: Those arriving by car and not requesting any particularly difficult kind of service (such as an early breakfast) will probably enjoy this hotel. /per

We were very happy with our choice and rate all categories excellant. We had one difficulty with comprehending the map for walking to the hotel and had to take a taxi. However, once there we did find we could walk to the station from the hotel. It was merely the heavy traffic was confusing for new pedestrians. The hotel employees helped us understand the pedestrian route.

We spent only one night here, and used none of the facilities, but our stay was very pleasant. This is a business hotel, located a few minutes drive from the old city of Verona, but it's a straight drive (about 5 minutes) to parking outside of the city gate. The room was spacious and clean, and the hotel very quiet. We were especially grateful that the air conditioning was working efficiently, as the temperature at midnight was 32 degrees C.

Les chambres avec lit double sont plus spacieuses que celles avec des lits jumeaux. Le prix obtenu en réservant par l'intermédiaire de venere.com est environ 40% moins cher que si on reserve via téléphone. Evitez les oeufs au bacon.

Hotel is a little further out of town than I had imagined from the map. Street lighting poor near the hotel, but no safety issues to report. Free shuttle bus to and from town for part of the evening very useful.

A enjoyable 3 days at the hotel which was only a few minutes walk from the main Train & Bus terminal. Walking time to the main Arena area was about 15 minutes so a good location to be away from the hustle & bustle but close enough to walk. Not much in the way of facilities but as most of our days were spent outside the hotel, this was not a problem. We had paid a higher rate for a delux double room and although the room was very clean & tidy we were a little disapointed with the size as it was quite small. We had expected more for our money ( The on-suite only had a shower / no bath) Pleasant staff & kept very clean.

Although very close to the train station, it's awkward to reach on foot with luggage (the route crosses a busy road and is quite intricate). We finished up taking a 2-minute taxi ride to go back to the station. We especially appreciated the hotel's shuttle bus to and from the opera. We found we usually had to wait a while to speak to anyone at reception. Now I'm having trouble with your website. When I click 'continue', I simply get the same first page of the questionnaire. I found the problem. You should say 'one or more items not complete'

Overall I thought the hotel was excellent. We had difficulty finding the hotel by car as I thought it was only a few minutes walk from the Arena, but once we got there we were very impressed. The room was a bit dark and in the bathroom, a light by the shower would have been helpful, but overall we had a very enjoyable stay and I would recommend to other visitors to Verona.
